  1. Wikipedia has a list that is "probably" more authoritative.    They only count people that stay in a city 24 hours.  Not all that different a list.  Hong Kong leads in that one, with three Thai cities in the top 20.  Bangkok 2nd,  Phuket No. 16, Pattaya at 19.

P.S.  Edit:  It seems to use 2019 data.

  2. Some people on this thread seem to be aware there were two events today involving the Constitutional Court.

The first one related to shareholding of media shares.  It was submitted too late to be considered by the court today and they only meet on Wednesdays, so that will look at it next week.  So this one does not change Pita's MP status.

The second event was on their agenda today and related to whether Move Forward's plan to change 112 was tantamount to trying to overthrow the monarchy.  The court accepted this second one, so I think -- but am not sure -- that he is suspended due to this second event.

I still don't get how the executor of an estate an be deemed to be the owner of any part of the estate.

The executor of the estate also can be a beneficiary of the will, and often is.  Many people will select one of their grown children to be their executor.  Children are primarily the beneficiaries of parents' wills.

Yes of course; it's always from 'Neighbouring Countries' as Thai's don't burn anything do they ?   That's why when i ride my Bike every morning a could easily lose count of the smouldering Bonfires, Rubbish Heaps and Paddy's seen every day of the week !

Thailand seems to do most of its burning earlier in the season.  Fires now are mostly from Laos.

Thanks for your update.  I also registered on 25 August and have not heard back yet, but it sounds like I might still get that elusive first jab of Pfizer at Central Festival.

And indeed, I was notified this evening (Sept 15) that I have an appointment on Sept 20 at Central Festival for the first Pfizer jab.  So, they are still working through the list.

Based on reading the OP, it sounds like the OP is not really seeking a rapid antigen test but is actually seeking an ANTIBODY test. He wants to know if he had Covid-19 in the PAST. Not currently.

Jingthing is correct.  The OP is confusing the rapid antigen test, which tests for infection NOW, with the antibody test, which tests for whether one had the infection in the past.

I am reliably informed that one can have the antibody test done at Bangkok Hospital Pattaya, by appointment, at the building in the back.  I do not know how much it costs or how one obtains an appointment.  If anyone chases down that information, we will appreciate your exposition.

"Singapore, the Philippine, Thailand and Taiwan are among those that have sought or signed deals for Moderna or have already begun receiving vaccine batches."

Other recent reports indicated that Thailand wanted 10 million by the end of the year but only got a committment for 5 million to be delivered by that date with the rest coming in 1Q 2022.

Seems to me that 5 million doses should be more than enough to cover those willing to pay the 3,400 baht.

That's a plausible take, but yesterday's story said the contract has not been wrapped up yet.  I think I will wait for some clarification before plunking down my money.

  9. At low tide this morning about 10:30AM, I walked along the surf from the Jomtien police station to Cafe Le Mar and back, and I saw at least 30 jellyfish stranded on the sand, so they are indeed out and about.

  10. With respect to my question about reopening the Third Road gym, Lucas, a manager type there, told me yesterday "not open maybe for the next few months."  As others have alluded to, a number of their clubs have been closed permanently (even before Coronavirus) and they are actively trying to sell a bunch of that equipment.  But the Third Road club, it seems, will eventually be back up and running.

Just keep in mind that even after decades of research they still haven't been able to find an effective vaccine against the AIDS virus.

Perhaps more relevant is SARS, which is also a coronavirus.  17 years and counting, still no vaccine for SARS.  I'm not holding my breath for a vaccine.  If it comes along, great.  But otherwise this damn thing won't go away until we have herd immunity (50-70% have been infected).  We could be in for a long slog.  At an infection rate of 100/day and a population of 66,000,000, most of us will be dead one way or another before herd immunity is reached.

Just a quick note: it's not real-time. It's updated 2-3 times daily, from the sources in the lower right hand corner links. The largest increases in figures have usually been added in the mornings (Thai time). You can see last update time in the top box on the site, which is maintained by John Hopkins University in US.

That's correct.  The Chinese data is near real time, though, according to the blog accompanying the site.

    "GIS Dashboard
In response to this ongoing public health emergency, we developed an online dashboard (static snapshot shown below) to visualize and track the reported cases on a daily timescale; the complete set of data is downloadable as a google sheet. The case data visualized is collected from various sources, including WHO, U.S. CDC, ECDC China CDC (CCDC), NHC and DXY. DXY is a Chinese website that aggregates NHC and local CCDC situation reports in near real-time, providing more current regional case estimates than the national level reporting organizations are capable of, and is thus used for all the mainland China cases reported in our dashboard (confirmed, suspected, recovered, deaths). U.S. cases (confirmed, suspected, recovered, deaths) are taken from the U.S. CDC, and all other country (suspected and confirmed) case data is taken from the corresponding regional health departments. The dashboard is intended to provide the public with an understanding of the outbreak situation as it unfolds, with transparent data sources."
