  1. 'm just interested, curious, I've no skin in this game but did she go back to Burma to visit family? Is she on a ME? Or is her family in Thailand?

If you want a replacement 21k + grub sounds ok to me. Where do I apply? I've seen Uncle Buck, I'm well qualified.

She got another job close by I think. No problem, just want to make sure I have no legal responsibility anymore

Will keep you in mind when the upgraded one leaves :) - are u cute ?

  2. Its not possible for you to cancel her Visa. Only the issuing authority can do it.

My ex-employer tried (that was vengence) and they told him to errr.....go away, in not so many words.

Cancelling the work permit should give you enough remove to protect you from any comebacks.

Thanks for the advice. Will stick w that then. Thought visa could also be an issue

I am very out of date - in the old days when u left a job and WP removed, u had 3 days to leave the country

  3. Thx - klong 16 near Nakon Nayok has it - 85,000 baht. Kinda thinking why - gliding in Australia was about. 40,000 baht ( including rows ). Will get the mrs to check again with clearer Thai :)

  4. We had a Burmese housekeeper who converted into a nanny after we had twins. She started out as a typical village girl, not knowing much, was well looked after with a salary towards the end approaching almost a degree level entry level job and pretty. Overseas trips and ate what we ate and we considered her a part of the family - even encouraged her to finish high school at our cost

But it’s never enough and wanted more so she no longer works w us

Cancelled her work permit today but visa still valid apparently, and would prefer to cancel too and let her new employer jump through their own hoops

Any advice if can and where to do for Burmese ? Thx

  5.

The relevance "to me" of the fees (160.00 USD upfront non-refundable) that I don't have to pay up front to Thailand for a 30 day visa , means that (in my convoluted logic)  I have an extra 160.00 USD  in my pocket to spend as I choose when I get there as opposed to before I get there.

I don't know if you read what I wrote completely but Thailand is not on the list of countries who can travel to USA (or Canada) and receive a free visa on arrival . However USA  and Canada are on Thailand's list for a free 30 day visa on arrival .

dual pricing is the relevance to me if you choose to interpret it differently you are free to do so.

In 24 years of Travelling to Thailand I have always declined patronizing

any establishment that charged any sort of dual price... it's no problem to just say no.

I get ur point but respectfully disagree and not related to this topic

To go to an extreme - if no visa required for ie Ethiopians to travel to USA, Australia etc - there would be an influx. There are costs in handling visas which are borne by the traveller

If Thailand was worried about a foreign influx - they wud instate the need for visas before travelling too

Ps thais can travel to Vietnam for free unlike most westerners

  6. Finished a course for Gliding in Australia and went solo - loved it, but sadly, not possible in Thailand.

since I live in bangkok, thinking of maybe doing ie ultralight. Does anyone know where can learn / get certified around bangkok / Chonburi area- I have Thai ID so no probs with visa etc.

if anyone interested to invest  / share in a decent ultralight - message me.

Loved flying (gliding), don't want to stop now .

  7. Again... (see earlier post #35 )

OP is comparing pricing in English for admission which includes a special live dance performance on Sat-Sun with Thai language pricing for everyday admission (not including the special weekend live dance performance). Pricing in English for general admission that matches the admission pricing in Thai which the OP cited can be found on-line: https://www.trazy.com/experience/detail/teddy-bear-museum-pattaya-discount-ticket

I believe the OP has unfairly criticized this business for dual pricing because he failed to do an apples-to-apples price comparison. If true, the OP has unfairly damaged this business (which by-the-way appears to be a franchisee of a Korean-owned chain), and should admit he was wrong.

You really should pass up that extra bowl of stupid in the morning. Using this logic, then farang price should then be the same except for that one hour a week. How also they separate the tickets of show and no show would be interesting.

For me not an issue anymore generally as have Thai ID, but even that has been rejected in Pattaya at a tourist trap as I am a white Thai

  8. Can get in with a driver license , quite boaring.

I can stomach the DL requirements, but had in one place in Pattaya they insisted I pay Falang price, envelope though had Thai ID - racist

If you can get it with a Thai Driving license etc the dual pricing is less offensive and its not based on nationality and undertones of xenophobia, it would just be targeting tourists which I think is more widely acceptable.

I have been to places who refuse Thai licenses - insults the shit out of the smart ass cashiers

Went to Narrogin gliding club in Western Australia to learn to glide, finally did my first solo last Sunday, and finished today with 7 solo flights to my name. Last flight today was wonderful, went up pretty high and greased the landing at the end.

Pretty challenging as gliders pilots need spin training which is not the norm with power planes ( all the ppl people on our course have not done it ). Tow cable break simulations also required quick and decisive actions

    Had a great time

This pick is of a glider from a club member which had a 25.6 meter wingspan
