I'm not sure what this potassium citrate mixture is all about.   Is this something you are buying and then mixing it yourself for a health problem?  If this is for a documented medical condition, why not get a prescription from you physician and a pharmacy?

I do have a prescription in the UK, but as I said in my original post I wont be able to bring enough back with me to last me the entire time I'm planning to stay in Thailand and I've no idea whether or not a similar product has been approved in Thailand since Google isn't coming up with much (at least in English).

Note that this is not pharmaceutical grade.

Thanks, I should get some tested in that case before I depart.

Potassium citrate is readily available on Lazada. It is sold by the kilo.

A uric acid problem is better treated by eliminating red meat from your diet and eating white meat in modest quantities with some fat. That is local pork and chicken. Salmon from Norway is best eaten raw.

Thanks, I'll look into that if the iHerb stuff turns out to be bunk. My specialist gave me the full run-down with regards to diet - I now only eat chicken or certain fish (not too high in purines) one or two meals a week, and have dropped alcohol; sugary drinks; and confectionery completely.

Do you mean that you take 6gm per day, as in my arithmetic, 20ml / 5ml = 4....x1.5 = 6.?

Does it work for gout as that is caused by excess Uric acid?

Are kidney and gall stones caused by Uric acid?

Yes 6 grams per day, as recommended by my specialist. Some stones, the ones I've had in the past, are caused by uric acid build-up; but the most common are caused by calcium oxate, iirc, whilst a small portion by struvite or cystine. I'm not qualified to comment on whether or not potassium citrate would work for gout but it's definitely worth looking into given the relation. I also take cherry extract and quercetin supplements, due to tentative  reports of them helping with gout - not that I've experienced gout myself (yet).

Edit: There's a table here, a bit further down the page, with the relative incidence rate of the different types of stones (calcium phosphate is another one I forgot to mention)

Pocitrin taklets here contain 231.5 mg potassium citrate. Available at pharmacies

These are compressed tablets not a powder

Lazada has what appear to be caspules 99 mg  https://www.lazada.co.th/tag/potassium-citrate-now/?exlaz=d_1:mm_150050845_51350204_2010350204::13:12361258253!116250847885!!!dsa-19959388920!c!!!!593083946049!&gclid=CjwKCAjw3oqoBhAjEiwA_UaLtlCyVsH0qVpTwSoNG8SH8z-YWtslQ91vir_W4fpyNo_9S6Boo87AaRoCOgkQAvD_BwE

I see some powders ion Shoppee but from China and I am not sure can be considered pharmaceutical grade.

But if what you already have is liquid, can you not just further dilute it?

Thanks very much, Sheryl. Sorry I should have been clearer, I didn't mean to imply that I require a weaker mixture, only to give an ideaa of the strength I'm actually after due to my doseage requirement.

I'm in the UK atm and it might be a bit tricky to bring enough of the mixture back with me to last - the pocitrin might do the trick in a pinch though. Cheers!

Haven't seen a public one in Hua Hin. I am wary of doorway ones, especially with the random quality of Thai building. A pull-up tower is the best option IMO:

I've used a doorway one in the past without issue, about 3 months of usage. Admittedly I was rather skeptical at first but it soon became apparent just how unlikely it is to fail, and even if it does you have to bend your feet back just to get off the ground so not too risky. I wont be in town for too long so a tower is rather overkill for my needs. Cheers anyway.

Yes, it is very hard to find on the streets. Apparently, in Thailand this sport is not popular. I also bought mine at Lazada.

I've only ever seen them along Jomtien Beach and in Queen Sirikit Park in Pattaya. It amazes me the amount of outdoor public gyms I've seen that have much more, relatively, complex pieces of equipment but have neglected to include pull-up bars. As you say, I guess it's down to a lack of interest amongst Thais - a lot who might use them likely already using Muay Thai gyms.

I'll probably just pick one up at Decathlon in Bangers.

  4. Does anyone know if a public outdoor pull-up/chin-up bar exists anywhere near central Hua Hin, or failing that somewhere I can purchase one of those extending doorway bars?

Obviously there are plenty of gyms around but I only need the bar 3 times a week, and as I only run and do calisthenics I don't need a gym for anything else - seems a little bit silly to fork out the gym fee just for some pull-ups.

  5. Where can one find public toilets on Wongmat? Went there a couple of times before covid and never noticed any (but didn't need them anyway then), but after having a nose around on Google street view there doesn't seem to be anything obvious like there is dotted around Jomtien.

Since my last visit I now have an ileostomy, so I'm a bit more careful about researching the bathroom situation before I go anywhere.

I still do that, even on a one-way street

Same here, I set myself a rule to always look both ways even on one-way streets after I stupidly, for god knows what reason (probably dementia kicking-in), assumed Pattaya Klang was one-way and only checked one direction as I crossed, not realising my error until I reached the other side. Probably one of my luckiest escapes, given it was about 3pm and a street clear of traffic being quite a rarity at that time of day. Couldn't believe how foolish I'd been, nor how fortuate I'd been to be so foolish at that exact moment.

Nope nothing on their website because they list their end/begin points only which is IMHO a bit confusing

You could try calling their call centre 1624

Cheers I'll give them a call.

You could also try NCA (Nakornchai Air) as all there buses that arrive in Pattaya will end up in Rayong..

NCA bus station is near the intersection with Pattaya klang, turn right at the traffic lights and maybe 200 meters on the left hand side is their bus station

Thanks for the suggestion I'll pop in and see if they have anyrthing. Nothing listed for Pattaya on their website but Rayong is there so quite possibly there'll be something running along Suk.

  9. Tried a search but nothing came up, what's the best way to get to Rayong by public transport in daylight hours? The yellow bus that passes through from Mukdahan doesn't seem to be running anymore, unless anyone knows different? At least, it's not showing up on 12goasia and the like, and fares are showing on the official website as 0 THB. I think Phetprasert might run a service that comes down through Laem Chabang from somewhere northerly but there doesn't seem to an English option on their website and I'm terrible at reading these non-standard Thai fonts they use.

Also how about songthaews, could I just hop on a white one at Sukhumvit then change at Sattahip for a second one bound for Rayong?

My plants have always flowered despite street lights, the moon, the woman turning on the outside lights, etc. I always think the 'streetlighting' tale is from those who have never grown.

This is currently flowering by my living room window ........

    IMG_20221210_075751.jpg

Thanks, that's good to know. Surprises me given how sensitive they can be to light leaks when grown indoors. Did yours ever hermi on you?

  11. I always get para but so long as I stay indoors it's not really an issue and doesn't prevent me from enjoying myself. Being stoned in public, on the other hand, is hell on earth; I've always been quite envious of folks who can do that without getting the fear.

Some of these plants are 12 feet tall. I didn't feed them enough. Are they ever going to bloom? It looks like all of them are about to flower but I thought that two months ago.

Just my first crop. I'll do better next time. Auto bloom seedlings are currently growing

Depends what strain, some will take quite a while to kick in and if you have a light-source nearby (such as streetlighting, or a floodlight) there's a fair chance they won't flower at all regardless of what they are (unless they're autos).

Around 15-20% of Thai citizens have Chinese ancestry so what's so strange about this?

Yes, and amongst the Thai upper-class that percentage is much, much higher.
