  1. I was just wondering if i should be planning some time in savannakhet. I will report back.
  2. Im already in mukdahan. If i was near poi pet i would use that. There is no problems i was just wondering if anyone crossed recently. I have never used an agent i dont like to support that for a simple border bounce.
  3. Well the last we knew at the end 2024 when nong khai was having problems people were still re-entering at mukdahan same day.
  4. Does anyone know the current climate as far as a border bounce at Savannakhet. Can you do it same day or they request overnight stay now?
  5. Yeah i noticed the same in bangkok in my truck just bouncing around everywhere cant relax and cruise on smooth road. I will say the main routes in the north, central, and isan are really nice now. I remember 10 years ago it was just a worn out 2 lane road in a lot of parts. Now many sections have been widened to 4 lanes with smooth pavement.
  6. You should be able to enter with a new visa, the problem is if you go to an immigration office for an extension you will need to clear this overstay. 500 baht per day up to a maximum of 20,000 baht.
  7. honestly DMK is the worst, I would consider cancelling and just flying to KL if you only need a brief time before going back to europe.
  8. Why spending all this money?? Go the dark side of pattaya to the train station. Its a twice a day service, you go bkk first then to Aranyaprathet the poi pet border for about 80 baht total. Dont listen to the outdated fear mongering online about poi pet. Get your stuff organized and know what your doing you will be fine.
  9. as usual this is about all that needs to be said... "I felt the locals just tolerated us but there was no rapport. "
  10. You are brainwashed to believe you are somehow free. It does not matter what country you are in, if you got a birth certificate after you were born you are a slave to the system. Truly free people are living in the woods or jungle somewhere, and they do what they want at all times with zero government involvement. We are getting further from this everyday that passes.
  11. Consider that Phuket immigration alone does around 228 million baht per year on foreigner visa extensions and you have your answer.
  12. In thailand that means discussed lol. I have seen this "agreed in principle" many times over the years yet nothing ever happened. It may happen but its definitely not certain.
  13. lots of options... Cambodia unlimited Philippines 16 months Vietnam 90d Malaysia 90d
  14. At the time, I believe they were concerned about vietnam going to 90 days and stealing a lot of tourists but that didnt really happen.
  15. For me and you but thats not how thailand operates they have to see it in practice then they change things
  16. Totally agree, they have realized now the tourist visa is useless and nobody does it anymore. The revenue at thai embassies around the world probably took a big hit.
  17. It's being discussed but not yet formally published in the royal gazette so we will see if it actually happens.
  18. I was thinking about getting a DTV but hell no. Getting pulled aside for 30 min every time you re enter the country no thanks. And this is the first visa run you did so it will only get worse over time as more people do this and they dont like repeat visa runs/border runs to continue a stay. As always with these type of visas its not a permission to stay 5 years straight, its basically just a multiple entry tourist visa where you may or may not be allowed to enter each time depending on officer discretion.
  19. Its because you lived in thailand in the past, so they are wary on why you come so much now. Its a bit overkill imo but not our call. I would take a break for for 6 months, then keep your visits short and spread out in the future.
  20. Thanks John I went with a rebuild. I was thinking maybe second hand engine but hard to find a decent 2005 nowadays. Everything is just so ragged out and beaten on. Rebuild is basically the only thing i can trust to go another 300k
  21. Engine shaking pretty bad, low power, injectors gummed up, turbo not working. I am not really sure but , its a very good diesel mechanic and he suggested to remove the motor and completely rebuild it.
  22. I am considering rebuilding my 2005 3.0 4JJ1 Dmax, complete engine rebuild. Pistons, rings, bearings, replacing all internal parts, gaskets etc and also 4 injectors. My turbo is ok just a rebuild kit for it. I was quoted approximately 60,000 baht. Is this a good price and do you think its worth it? Truck is a manual and has 273k on it and is in good shape otherwise.
  23. I am currently in a short term rental in bangkok and bought a used car that is bangkok registered. But I am living in chiang mai. I was planning to drive the car right away from bangkok to chiang mai and register it there. But the owner insists i must register in bangkok before going, he is worried something could happen on the way to cm. I guess i can register in bangkok if i have to but if i use my chiang mai address can i get chiang mai plates or i have to use my current bangkok address and get bangkok plates?
  24. 1. They have your full lifetime entry and exit history on the computer. It was reported but not confirmed that 6 lifetime visa exempt entries provides some alert on the computer. But I would say its more up to the discretion of the officer, if they think you are not a genuine tourist they will question you further. And lets face it 8 months holiday is not a tourist. 2. I would definitely not gamble with another visa exempt by air. You were lucky to get in with 8 months under your belt. Chiang Mai was safer in the past, but they seem to be more on the same page nowadays, not really worth it. Land crossing should be safer than air, but its a bit more shaky now. In the past you could always get 2 land entries per year. But recently they have started treating them like airports removing this stated limit. So its up the discretion of the officer. Its very early days with this so nobody can really tell you for sure. 3. A month off is not enough to feel safe, you would still face the same scrutiny on arrival. You would need 6 months outside thailand to really reset yourself. Tourist Visa should be granted because you have never even had one before. But be advised you can still face the same scrutiny on arrival with a tourist visa, some have even been denied entry with one but its rare. 4. Not really any other ways if you have a tight budget like this.
  25. I am traveling to bangkok to sell a car and will stay in a hotel there so new tm30. The car is registered in chiang mai. When i fill out the forms to sell the car , do I put the chiang mai address or my bangkok hotel address?
