Where i come from we have cement for gardens...
Quite minimalist then?

Spurred on by this thread I have just got back from my first visit and on the whole I was rather impressed. I guess it helps that I enjoy gardens in general but I thought it was very well organised and some of the gardens were lovely.
In some ways I chose a terrible day to go as the Princess of Bhutan was visiting and some exhibits were temporarily closed when I got to them so they were missed. Mai pen rai it almost certainly ensures I will go back at least once.
One negative was the total absence of a British exhibit (and the US). Given the UK's horticultural heritage not turning out and supporting Thailand's Expo was very poor form. Even a Groundforce Special would be preferable to nothing and Britain's hoticultural elite, Kew, Chelsea et al should feel thoroughly ashamed to have missed this opportunity.
On the positive side the Expo was packed with Thais who were obviously taking great pride and pleasure out of the show and quite rightly too.
So go and see for yourself is what I say

Brilliant resurrection Gonzo It's great to have the thread back
Wili either if these two establishments be doing a gala dinner for Chinese New Year? I know it's early but it pays to plan ahead.

Went to the one on Loi Kroh as recommended by Likite.
Very professional and super efficient.
Was in and out in 5 minutes exactly what was required and highly recommended

He's not a quack though!
Certainly no slight on the gentlemen's professional integrity is intended I am sure.
-
There's a doc 1/2 way up Loi Kroh on the left hand side (from night bazzar) opposite the Wat.
Thanks Likite
I know the one.
Sorted.
Cheers

Thanks in advance

Would seem that there could be a biz opportunit here for someone wanting to start a "Food By Phone" operation like there is in Bangkok.
I am sure there would be enough customers in CM
Now that is a good idea!

I second hel_l s Kitchen - good food and a really nice couple running it. They deserve support.
Delivery number is 053-232195

Yep as a totally irresponsible teenager I nearly blew my hand off with a firework- believe me it hurts and I was a lucky one.
I was on Nawarat last night and the western kids were doing exactly the same as I did many years ago.
It just ain't worth losing your hand.

Thank you so much for your invaluable assistance and at record speed to boot.

Hi
Probably a really stupid question to anyone who knows what they are talking about but goobledygook to me and I could not get a straight answer from Maxnet.
I use TT&T Maxnet ADSL and want to know
What type of incoming server I am using POP or IMAP and the name of the server
The name of my outgoing server which should be something like smtp.example.net
Can anyone tell me how I find this out?
Would really appreciate the help. Thanks

The Library Cafe next to the Writers Club on Ratchadamnern (Sunday Walkng Street) has wi-fi and is a pleasant spot.

Most of the stalls have now gone which in my opinion is a great shame. That square had a bit of charactere to it.
Apparently the old Anusarn is going to be replaced with an OTOP centre, as if we needed more of that in the Night Bazaar area
Some of the stalls including Best Taste Kitchen, which is my all time favourite, have relocated to the old carpark adjaecent to Fatty's. Others are still setting up there so but I'm sure it will settle down quickly.
IMHO we could do without the cultural show with their caterwauling and drum banging but if that's the price to pay for enjoying good food at a reasonable price I will gladly pay it.

I am fairly sure Le Spice restaurant is Halal. They serve Indian and Thai food and it is exceptionally good.
It is located off the night bazaar on Charoenpratet Soi 6 which is the soi on the south side of the new Galare Centre.
Their telephone number is 053 234 983 so you can check that it is Halal.
Good luck and enjoy your meail

And then I went home.

The drinking bit seems like fun. Not sure about the running around though seems like a lot of hard work for a pint.

For me Huen Phen on Rachamangkha Road does the best Khao Soi and tons of other Lanna dishes. Can be a struggle to get a table in their most lunchtimes.

Chiang Mai STILL needs an English Language newspaper IMHO
Totally agree. The Pattaya Mail which is run by the same group is still going so no equipment would be available. Surely somewhere in CM could print a local paper?
Got to be an opportunity there somewhere.

Art Cafe or Sojos.
Best breakfasts in the Kingdom!
Got to agree with this Inever thought of Mexican for breakfast before but I am impressed by the Art Cafe

Good night out on Saturday but never made it to either of these two establishments
Anyone else?

In Thailand the Kasikorn bank does a neat photocopy minature of all the bills in sequence showing all the serial numbers....very nice touch I thought !!
Shouldn't you be on the other side of the law Ned, rather than admiring banks security features?
Great Pizza At Huay Kaew Road

Not sure if this question was directed at me or not but I'll answer it anyway Yes Paradise is thin and crispy too and I agree they are tyhe best type. Rick (the owner) puts bricks in the oven so the bases are very crispy. Really good stuff.
I'll give the Cipollina a bash next week you can never know too many good restaurants in my opinion
There should be a smiley for fat b*sT*rd I can't see how anyone can lose weight in this town
