This is something that would never happen in LOS. Let's say the 800,000 or 400,000 is deposited into a special type of account that is locked up and can only be touched with the approval of Immigration.  In essence if one gives up the  Non Imm O retirement or marriage  then the money is released.  In such a scenario because the money is locked  the annual extension could turn into a simple renewal process. For instance going to the local immigration office and pay the renewal fee (of course the fee would be much higher than 1900 Baht) and submit a form that indicates nothing has changed.  Of course thinking efficiently is not a common thing in LOS.   I can see the same type of extension process that currently exists staying for a long time.  Just a wishful thought.

I ponder on this because the PI SRRV has a  smaller deposit requirement but a high application fee and high renewal fee. The SRRV application fee $1400 (over 47,000 Baht) and the simple renewal fee is $360(over 12,000 Baht).  When I say simple, I mean simple. Because it is "always about the money" this idea might fly if Thai culture was willing to consider ideas from other countries. Now back to reality.

"Just keep an open mind"?  Never in the Land of Smiles.

...agreed..I can't see why Thai Immigration can't have their own Bond Account where we pay our 800/400 in for the duration of our Stay, abolish the 90 Day Reporting for those on Non Immig 'O' extensions...whoopee!

Diesel or Caustic Soda is also very effective.

Dear 'sad face' my method is to kill the stump/root system after the tree has been cut down for whatever reason ie. in the wrong place or affecting foundations..not the one with the little birdies ok!

A hill tribe gardner used a chain saw to remove a tree that had sprung up in a bad location and was damaging a wall and the banks of the klong. After he took it down to a stump, he cut an X in the top of the stump and poured in a bag of salt......the stump is perishing at a rapid rate.

Diesel or Caustic Soda is also very effective.

The person asking for help in this situation seems to be the one causing the problem. Killing trees simply because they attract birds is not only environmentally destructive, but it's also unlikely to solve the underlying issue.

Birds are an important part of the ecosystem and play a crucial role in pollinating plants, controlling insect populations, and maintaining the overall health of the environment. Additionally, the presence of birds can be a sign of a healthy ecosystem, and their songs and chirping can be a source of joy and beauty for many people.

Rather than killing the trees, the person could consider other options for addressing their concerns, such as using bird deterrents, planting different types of trees that may be less attractive to birds, or simply learning to appreciate the presence of birds in their environment.

Ultimately, the approach of simply killing trees to solve a perceived problem is not only harmful to the environment but also reflects a lack of understanding of the complex interconnection of ecosystems and the value of biodiversity.

how about a few cardboard cats draped here and there!

The accident happened whilst he was turning.

That does not indicate a 'right of way'. He should wait until the road was clear.

Nowhere does the article or the truck driver say that the bike was travelling in an illegal direction.

seems like both the truck and motor cy were heading in the same direction with the bike tried to overtake the turning truck, (whether or not the trucks indicators were working or the rearlights illuminated, remains to be seen).

Two sides to this story for sure.

A British tourist, too drunk to get into a taxi, ended up in a fistfight with two Good Samaritans who volunteered to drive him home in the early hours of Tuesday in this eastern seaside tourist town.

Muang Pattaya police and rescue volunteers were called to Pattaya Sai 3 Road in tambon Nong Pruea of Bang Lamung district at about 3am, where they found a man aged about 55-65 sitting on the pavement. He had sustained a broken nose, a bruised left eye, bleeding on his face and some scratches on his body.

Rescuers provided first aid before sending him to a hospital. A witness identified only as Rattapon, a 41-year-old police volunteer, reported seeing a white pickup truck pull over and a Thai man drag the Briton out. Other witnesses tried to ask him what happened but received little information due to his intoxicated state.

The men, who are technicians at a night entertainment venue in South Pattaya, admitted to assaulting the Briton but claimed he had attacked them first and struck their pickup truck.

Police said they would check footage from security cameras around the area where the incident took place and question both parties to ensure fairness.

According to Mr Manuchchai, the Briton was drinking and appeared intoxicated at a bar on Soi Bua Khao. When he attempted to get a taxi home, no drivers were willing to take him. Moved by pity, he and his friend volunteered to drive him, but the passenger became loud, aggressive and tried to attack them.

"We tried to calm him down, but he refused to listen and forced us to turn into the wrong lane," Mr Manuchchai said. "When we pulled over, he struck our truck, causing damage."

"He started a fistfight with us. We had to leave him on the roadside. Things escalated, and we traded punches, with both sides getting injured. After the incident, we drove away, not expecting that the police would be looking for us. We want to assert our innocence. We were attacked first despite our good intentions to take him home."
