  1. The UK has had its credit rating outlook downgraded to "negative" by the ratings agency Moody's after the country voted to leave the EU.

Moody's said the result would herald "a prolonged period of uncertainty".

Moody's said the referendum result would have "negative implications for the country's medium-term growth outlook", and it lowered the UK's long term issuer and debt ratings to "negative" from "stable".

  2. My condolences to the Brit expats here on the pound.

It has already started to bounce back.

It has only gone down by one and a half baht to the pound - big deal.

555 ...It's more like a 4-5 baht drop which equates to around a 10% devaluation in 24hrs ...yes, its a big deal!

Well, is it 4bt or 5bt? Read the bloody graph you posted man.

It's neither, my hyphen designates 'a range' not an 'or' ....which is obvious to those who know how to read a simple graph properlywink.png

However, if you need just one number(albeit less accurate) that won't won't confuse your pretty little head, the drop would be 5.23528 Baht which equates to the UK pound being devalued by 11.02385% since the referendum result was announced.

Let me know if you need any further help using the internet or with high school level math and I will drop everything and come running.

  3. Economists know Duck all! The so called experts are a joke in all areas of life not just economics. Arrogant know nothings and a pack of arty lovies from the media actually thought they were more important than regular folk and had no idea of the contempt in which they are held. Next Sweden - Holland- France and so on until we regroup as an economic union not a centrally controlled, corrupt unelected, death by beuracracy junta!

Ahem....says the guy who gave the wrong figures and claimed the pound is bouncing back!

  4. This currency fluctuation is short term.

A "fluctuation" would go up and down, this is actually a currency devaluation.

The city is going nowhere but up off this.

Right ..would love an explanation why 'the city' campaigned to remain and why markets have reacted negatively to the result?

Nope this is a fluctuation, not a devaluation.

    fluctuation

    ˌflʌktʃʊˈeɪʃ(ə)n,-tjʊ-/

    noun

    noun: fluctuation; plural noun: fluctuations

    an irregular rising and falling in number or amount;

    ---

The pound has fallen, it has not risen ...therefore it is a devaluation!

So either you don't understand what the word "fluctuation" means or you are misinformed as to the value of UK pound dropping in the last 24hrs....as a direct result of the referendum result!

These are the facts ....not opinions or baseless projections.

  5. First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has given her response to the EU referendum result, stating that a second Scottish independence poll was now "on the table".

As things stand, Scotland faces the prospect of being taken out of the EU against our will.

I regard that as democratically unacceptable.

And of course we face that prospect less than two years after being told that it was our own referendum on independence that would end our membership of the European Union and that only a rejection of independence could protect it.

  6. The people have spoken but so have the markets ...the £££ is in the pan!

Which means everything will now become more expensive....including Thailand.

It wont reduce immigration in the slightest...in fact it will probably increase immigration as the demand for cheap labour will increase to offset the rising cost of living and running a UK based business.

Quantitative easing and recession here we go...again!!!!

  7. In 2 previous post you told me that I have to take it up with the courier if the package got missing.

Correct! ...which is completely different from repeatedly claiming the parcel is lost.

Your claim against the seller has no basis, you should not have submitted a claim in the first place.

All you have to do is ensure the owner is reunited with their property then you will be refunded....not exactly rocket science!

This is my last post...because if you don't understand by now you never will!

  8. Which part of the Paypal policy didn't I comply with?

It's in their reply to you...

Thank you for contacting PayPal with your concern.

If a Significantly Not as Described claim is decided in the buyer's favor, we may ask the buyer to send the item back to the seller at the buyer's expense.

Online trackable Proof of Delivery is required. Once we have confirmed that the item has returned to the seller, we will process a refund.

We regret any inconvenience this may have caused you and encourage you to work directly with your seller for further resolution.

    Like I said earlier...

Paypal decided the claim in my favor and told me to return the goods in order to receive a full refund.

It's your responsibility to make sure the parcel arrives at it's destination.

If the parcel goes missing then you have to take it up with the courier that you employed.

    Nothing to do with Paypal...

Don't get me wrong Berty. I'm not trying to troll your thread but there is a lot of bad advice being given, including the last guy who claims PP dont follow any rules and they have no proper procedures in place to handle problems. Also they are impossible to contact.

As for all the people on the internet whinging about their PP experience ..99% of those will not have bothered to read the T&C's/policy.

    ----------

Let me put this another way, how do you think the owner of the item will feel if you have lost(via Thai post) their property?

Does it seem reasonable they should be out of pocket because of something you did?

What PP are looking for is a tracking scan showing the owner reunited with their property.

Your claim doesn't have any basis...as technically you still have the item, the fact it's 'in transit' is irrelevant.

  9. It's free. Quit complaining. The moment anyone turns on a phone or their pc, others know about it.coffee1.gif

If you don't care about your privacy then up to you, but this thread is for those who do.

The thread title kinda gives it away...

  10. I've rented motorbikes all over Thailand in the past and never had any issues, I might also hire a car for a few weeks on my next trip(4-5 months).
But this trip I would like to be fully legal and have a few other ponderings.

I rented a nice bike for not much money in Ko Chang last year, but I wonder what would happen...if I for eg the bike was stolen or damaged in an accident.

Are rented motorbikes generally insured against such events by the owner(rental company) or would they be looking for me to buy them a new bike or pay for repairs?

As a UK licence holder(Card) do I need an IDP as well?

I seen the other thread, but many people contracting each other, so please only answer if you actually know the Thai law.

  11. You don't want the mrs to see either you mean smile.png

    I don't have a 'mrs' so that's not what I mean :)

But, I do have 10 dates lined up, and see no good reason why they should have to know about each other...as I don't know who else they are chatting to either.

LINE is somewhat "leaky", like many social media apps. Sometimes a separate phone/SIM/account are called for. Even then there can be leakage.

Thanks ...cant find the thread or remember the exact details now, but a guy(new user) a was talking about how his Line contacts could see each other and it caused a bit of a mess, so just wanted to check.
