from my experience, how much influence you have and how rich you are are real deciding factors, in at least in Bangkok. Social Status and classification then usually follows.

My CD ROM drawer won't eject I have tried everything.

The only way I can do it is by sticking a paper-clip in the tiny hole then yanking it open. It has only just happened, it does not really get heavy use is is not very old.

Any ideas of how I can restore it back to normal eject?

I have DLink routers which are very good but the setup of these is a huge pain. And I am saying that as somebody who's running a network of 5 of them and knows them inside out. The web interface is just retarded for the DLink. I have DWL-2100 APs. I do have to say the hardware is excellent though, I can't recall an outage, eh, ever. They run 24/7, they work 24/7. For 2 years straight.

Agreed. To setup via web address, use the cable that comes with it. Direct LAN. Good for security.

Don't load the "Access Point Managment" software. It will cause the blue screen of death.

Hardware is great. Doesn't run hot. Price is around 2,000 baht

Story from TOT engineer is that the modems run hot and stop working.

I've paid them money, they have looked at the site and got a signal, I have had a large concrete pad put down for the dish and still N O T H I N G..............

From what Gary A says I'm best to stick with IPStar CSLoxinfo at least it is there and it works.

Same thing happened to me. TOT site survey then nothing for months.

Since then I had a lightning strike (SAT modem, AP and UPS battery - died)

Wife called and they replaced the modem, fine tuned the dish aim (100% signal - was 92%)

They took care of us very well and I gave them a purple piece of paper

I have a tt&t dsl land line now.. but I am thinking about moving farther into the country. My speed here is about 512 down and 256 up ... very happy with it.. as I have a voip phone which I do all my biz on. Question is ... are any of you using voip phone like skype or packet 8, vonage etc..with your IPSTAR or like service and if you are ... what has been your experience.

I use skype. Even video conference everyday. Works very nicely. Had problems with other VOIP platforms

on satellite, but Skype is the way to go on SAT links.

Rimmer, not too bad really. Why haven't you switched to TOT IPStar? 1/2 the cost, I think.

I had CSLoxinfo and it was terrible. Speed, customer service and billing. It was 4,000 Baht for 512/256

TOT is 2,000 Baht, I've had it for 4 months and have just received first bill. So far so good.

I also recommend to others some speed enhancments. My setup:

512/256 connected to DLink wireless access point, PC running XP Pro.

-Turn on CBR in the SAT modem (Constant Bit Rate) PM me for password.

-Use TCP otimizer. Set at 900ms latency and your speeds 512/256 and MTU of 1500

-OPTIONALLY use the XP tweak mentioned on this board, it doesn't hurt anything.

Then, run some speed tests. You'll see marked improvement! Enjoy..

I am getting 517/307 steadily today.

Today my 1024/512 TOT Ipstar won't work at all. Yesterday it was almost useless and has been really bad for the past couple of weeks. Is anyone else having problems or is it my installation. My signal strength is 90 and the ES reading below that is 9.3. I have been using my phone to get online.

I am curious though because I've read earlier posts that you had CSLOXINFO before - Me too.

Question: When you got TOT IPstar, did they aim the dish at a different angle? i.e. - Different transponder.

They did on mine. Overall much better - I've noticed though with Windows XP and wireless router 2 things:

I have to do the "disk cleanup" frequently and when it's really slow try XP network connections - REPAIR.

Let me know if either helps. If it's down hard sounds like equipment (Antenna / SAT modem)

Pattaya Pool has some. Wife bought a "Leisure Vac". I forgot how much it was.

It's complete. You would want the structure / Legs. Wouldn't work without it.

This is not correct with a sole proprietorship. In order to get the work permit, it is not 2 million paid up capital, it's 4 Thais employed or tax paid last year in Thailand of 50,000 Baht. If married to a Thai, then it can be 2 Thai employees or tax paid last year of 25,000 Baht.

Can Thai wife be one partner? Correct?

Pumpuiman, Thanks for your concerns. I am fine and here's the update.

-Police took the report, even did all paperwork and phone calls for the lab tests.

-Lab test was positive for rat poison and Ya_xx. Really! So they split the sample in half

and it tested again positive on Friday. I have to sign for the report at the Lab on Monday.

-I was in BKK visiting my brother in law, a Thai Police Col. He is a really great guy.

-He knows the new superintendant here on the island. We told him about low ranking Cops

trying to get me to drop it and threatning me. Well to say the least, Good F*&$king Luck 2 them!

-The Perp will have an arrest warrant issued on his sorry ass on Tuesday, latest.

-He has already done a runner and the low ranks are keeping their heads down.

-They will be transferred to the South if they attempt or think about anything against us.

-They whole island including the monks are with me 100%. When they take his house to pay me

the 1 million, I will give it to the TSPCA.

-Next update after the $hit hits the fan on Tuesday. I promise.

-I want to thank all my fellow animal lovers for their support, it really helped.

digitele, i am so sorry to hear that your dog got poisoned... what a terrible thing to do... its the same as those hit and run cases of unconscentious motor drivers...

i live in the philippines and you should be thankful that in thailand at least the police are trying to do something for you.. if you reprt that incident here in our country that will just be ignored unless you are rich and have money...

i have lots of friends here who had their dogs kidnapped right inside their house... the police wont even bother to do something about it...

so do keep up the fight!!! and i hope that someday those laws will soon apply here!
