The School trips by Mini Van are essentially the only way your children will get to experience the things that the other children partake in.

Would you deny your child the right to grow up in the company of their friends, and not be outcast by their peers because their parents did not like the mini van transportation provided.

I certainly would not, as experience is a very valuable tool for a child.

And yes , I worry - A Lot when my child goes on these vans.

This is the dilemma I'm guessing.

I just do not like the idea of children being transported on roads which are so dangerous and the steps we have taken to safeguard the child with child seats cannot be replicated by the schools.

Our child is not yet 2 so I'm not even sure when school trips start playing a part in his life ir how frequent these can be?

More than 50 years ago I took up with a young lady who became my apartment cleaner, and it moved on from there. She spoke minimal (read zero) English. Fifty years later I'm sorry, (kidding) she learned English so well, but we are still  happily married. To answer the question, Yes, it is possible for such an arrangement to work out. Her two sons treat me as their father as do all the family. I do not speak Thai but again, not a major stumbling block.

Really? So how old were you both at time of meeting?

  3. Strange post.

3 years in and having doubts about future compatibility.

If you are having these doubts only now, maybe your looking for an out but having trouble justifying the reason.

After 3 years with my little lady I have seen her 10% verbal English skills increase to over 60% but I asked for a lot of changes and her crappy 12k a year job was one of them. Moving to a neutral spot was also another. Crappy TV soaps went in year 1. Was super easy. Showed her the rubbish equivalent in uk and explained the target audiences of this dumbed down rubbish.

Was the soldier a cook by any chance ?

If you need to get a few kills under your belt maybe you should start with your brother-in-law. I remember a thread where you were not too happy with him.

Lol. He purchased a car. He drives without a licence and like a maniac and has become good friends with the cousin who stabbed him 3 years ago. Friends now, all because he has a car. I think that is going to sort itself out.

The ex soldier was not a cook.

  5. Recent visa run made an acquaintance who claimed to have killed a few people for queen and country. Over 7 odd years I have learned of a few farang who were murderers and through this website I have read a fair amount of farang assisted deaths. Murderers are not so rare in this neck of the woods, recently I looked into a legal matter and vetted 2-3 firms and found the owner of one had bludgeoned his own mum to death and yet he runs a law firm.

It's getting a bit rife and I'm beginning to wonder if I would have more in common with my fellow expats if I had a few kills under my belt, that or I should just bang on about how great koh tao is.
