What does Thailand know, or is this just wishful thinking? Does this signal the imminent end to China's zero Covid policy which is crippling its industry, economy, and lockdowns of millions? As the world's largest energy consumer, I think a better gauge of this is the price of oil, and it is lower than it should be.

I understand the F35 was intended to be used as a weapons system, where the real strength comes from having many F35s active in the combat area at the same time for many targets and eliminating multiple simultaneous threats. A single aircraft is like having only one walkie talkie. Buying only 2 would also defeat this purpose, unless they are intended to serve as Thailand's contribution combined in joint operations along with F35s of other countries, in a west vs east scenario. One must ask, who exactly is the eastern threat they think they want to engage? Doesn't really make sense with Thailand's close ties with Russia and China. Most likely, this exercise in western weapons procurement is made with the purpose to cause China to get even closer to Thailand using their fear of a Thailand with an increased alignment with the west.

Brit shows sympathy for victims of Mountain B tragedy
Gold Star replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
While my friend was out jogging, his girlfriend bought flowers and picked him up along the way and they drove there to go pay their respects. There, they were caught in a media storm. It was really no big deal, but was sure made out to be, especially here in the comment section. How many of you go jogging in Thailand in a suit and leather shoes? How many of you even own pants? Perhaps it is time to let this big fuss over nothing die out and move on to the next fashion faux pas. -
Brit shows sympathy for victims of Mountain B tragedy

Of course they just came by to simply pay their respects. They felt horrible and sickened about this as most of us do. They came by dressed as they were, then were mobbed by the media at the scene, and even refused to give their names. That is not the actions of people that seek attention. They are not TicTok or vloggers, just good people. Someone owes me a Leo. -
Brit shows sympathy for victims of Mountain B tragedy

You bashers are all so jaded and wrong. He is a friend of mine, a very nice and considerate mate from the UK with his Thai son, and has been living in the Pattaya area for many years, always active in supporting the locals and the community. Thailand would be a far better place with more like him around. The couple simply went to drop by and pay their respects, and offer condolences in such a horrific tragedy. It wasn't a formal funeral, or organized event, and by the looks of things, very few others could be arsed do do the same. Instead, while you go on and on making fun of his shorts, take a moment and ask yourself, what kinds of considerate things have you done lately to make a positive contribution in our adopted land that we are fortunate enough to be guests in?- 72 replies

I get my income letter from the Chiang Mai Canadian Consular office every year, going in person. Can do it at Bangkok CDN embassy as well, but it is more convenient in CM. Can email them ahead to make an appointment, but there was never anyone else there when I needed one. I print out a copy of my Canadian income tax assessment for the prior tax year showing my Canadian income, sign the documents, pay the fee, and get the letter within minutes to take to immigration. Easy peasy. The letter is valid for 6 months. Good you are getting the non O, rather than the OA.

From my experience, our trash goes through quite a thorough inspection, sorting, and handling procedure after the waste is transported and dumped in the jungle away from the village. The glass, metal, and large plastic is all picked through to get recycled, and any delivery slips, bank statements, and personal information are taken and used by the army of scammers to send illegal packages on your behalf, and to try to get at your money or property. The rest is set on fire which smoulders for days in a toxic putrid plume.

That is a huge chasm to leap. Great dreams and aspirations. On the surface, it looks nice, but they haven't discovered how to use the smell preventing P-traps in plumbing, ground or earth wiring, safety, and quality yet. It gets even worse when a tourist steps foot off the resort. It will still be a third world country for a long time, and that is why I like it here.

PrikPot Sparks Thailand’s Online Cannabis Market
Gold Star replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Here is an example of a 100g block of buds offered for 1200 baht on FB, coming from Issan. I don't know what the THC content is, but only just a pinch in a tea before bed, enables my ill wife to sleep without pain. A godsend. I expect the prices to come down a lot more from here as it will become grown nearly in every home. Everything eventually approaches the marginal cost of production, unless supply is restricted.- 185 replies
