Sure is a comfort that nice Mr y says corruption is now fixed, though I'm not sure what planet he lives on...

The aim is to have 500 beds available across Phuket for people infected with COVID-19 needing medical care, Governor Narong said during his inspection of the field hospital yesterday.
Did they drop a zero?

My understanding is that there is a group of professionals who can assist. They are called Professional Engineers.
Or better yet, the Pattaya people could look at some of the successful beach preservation projects.
The Tweed River Entrance Sand Bypassing Project, alias Tweed Sand Bypassing (TSB), is a joint initiative of the Queensland and New South Wales governments and has done a decent dual purpose of keeping a navigable river open, while replenishing a beautiful beach area. I find it fascinating that Thai government cannot do simple basic engineering while country like Australia can.
Importing professionals is difficult.

went to the scene after a foreign tourist and Thai partner drove a white car into a hole on Sukhumvit Road.
I've eaten in a few holes, driven into some too, but never in the road.

No problem.
Hualamphong Station was a copy of a European building, which was designed to cope with four feet of snow on the roof.
I'm concerned about the word copy.

The hospital that bears the name of the last king, caters to the military mainly but also the general public, notes Thaivisa.
A sad loss to the country... someone who had foresight & compassion.

They put the total loss to the country at a staggering 500 billion baht a year.
Amazing what they can turn a blind eye to.

'seemingly caught ill-prepared' Looks like the author has been practising diplomacy.
'seemingly' was the last word in my mind.
Any use of the word prepared could have been committed as-well.

However, people travelling to other provinces from Bangkok, Pathum Thani, Nonthaburi, Samut Prakan, and Nakhon Pathom may be required to undergo some form of quarantine or be asked to take a rapid COVID-19 test
They keep quoting Nakhon Pathom as a red zone, which is quite a large city west of Bangkok... but trying to find out why it's a red zone or where the infection rates are high is impossible.
How do I know where it's safe to go or to stay away from?
More information is required to make educated decisions.

Dr Sophon said that in order to reduce the number of new infections, four measures are needed:
- Reduce social gatherings and stop all but essential inter-provincial travel
- Pro-active screening and vaccination distribution
- Social distancing, mask wearing, hand washing and use of ThaiChana and MorChana apps under the DMHTTA guidelines.
- Work from home for employees
Expect the worst then.... 4 things that aren't going to happen.

The prevention includes closure of all entertainment venues in 41 provinces, including Bangkok, for at least 14 days, everyone wearing face masks and observing social distancing, no crowds for any reason and working from home
Woke up early this morning with the usual Pigeon dawn chorus, and the guy living opposite hawking his lungs up as he drags on his umpteenth cigarette.
I needed some bread & milk and as we have a 7/11 at the end of my Moo Baan thought i'd take my push-bike.
Walked in the door, took my own temp, cleaned hands with gel & swiped the QR code... girl behind the cashiers desk looked up and nodded.
Got my things and headed to the check-out.In walks said guy from across the road from me, parked his motorcycle right outside the door on the disabled ramp, no helmet, no mask.
Walks straight past the thermometer check... no test, no gel no QR check.
Coughing still ongoing, walks up to stand next to me and asked the girl for some cigarettes.
I took two steps backwards giving him a dirty look... the girl said sorry I'm serving this customer.
I said don't worry I'll come back later after you've cleaned up [in Thai] she looked at me puzzled.
I said to her at the same time as looking at him... no temp test, no gel & no QR swipe... is it now optional?
I thought we are in a red zone?
Walked out without any goods.
5 minutes later said guy was back at home lighting up another cigarette, he saw me and just smiled.

But, unlike James Bond, he didn't land safely in the rice paddy he was flying over, but instead hit head on a concrete electric pylon, which he managed to break in three pieces, cutting our village's electricity in the process and, incidentally, sending himself to meet his maker.
And so began the long Songkran holidays...
Please drive safely asks the PM... LOL

During the Songkran Festival many places will be welcoming a large number of tourists. One of them is Koh Samui. Tourists have today been waiting for ferries since early morning, causing the ferry operator to add more trips to reduce the congestion
Let the party begin... and the infections rise... best of luck.
Worst case scenario: Thailand faces 28,000 new COVID-19 cases PER DAY

Songkran national holiday allowing inter provincial travel.
what could possibly go wrong...
Prayut & Co should bow out now.
