  1. Out of a population of 60+ million that's not bad.
  2. Money is paramount... please remember the priorities.
  3. Has anyone noticed the brave officials who consumed the said rice not going to the hospital for check-ups? Who else thinks that was a PR stunt?
  4. Second miraculous recovery this year...
  5. Thousand upon thousands of items under the value of 1,500 baht enter Thailand from China and elsewhere daily.
  6. I doubt it very much One they would want to verify who you are, ie photo verification against you in person. Two you would almost certainly need to sign papers, also verify your signature. Three you would have to set up a pin number for your account... only you can do that.
  7. I'm sure you wouldn't do that. But as I said different banks do different things... In my case I use a local sub-branch of SCB which is very small. There are only three positions where usually only two staff operate with a floating supervisor, [the manager is only present on Thursdays] They take my passport which I open to the photo page, rotate in their chair which they are sitting on and use the photocopier 2ft behind them without having to even stand up. They then hand me back my passport without looking at any immigration pages. They then enter all the details into the computer, I sign a document that they fill in and ask for me to enter my PiN number. 15 minutes total and I have a new book and card. Cost for new account 200 baht As I said I cannot vouch for what happens in other banks/areas.
  8. Yeh riiiiight ..... what? I quoted what my bank has done with me.. I can't help if other banks/branches act differently or people have had different experiences. That does not make me a liar if that is what you are inferring.
  9. Thanks but I'm with SCB and have not received the above notification.
  10. Mine doesn't, I cannot vouch for what other peoples experiences are... Some seem to think every bank, every teller, everyone does exactly the same, main branch, sub-branches etc. I'm quoting what mine has done... If that doesn't suit then I can't help it.
  11. They took my passport which I already opened to the photo page, the copied it and handed it back. They didn't even look at my immigration/visa pages.
  12. So why did you feel the need to ask me, if you already know the answer?
  13. In the context of this post/replies my visa status is irrelevant.... when opening my bank accounts over the years I have never been asked about my visa status.
  14. I guess CCTV at the station didn't get his number plate to report theft to the police so they could do the chase?
  15. If the fish are caught illegally then it cannot be exported to the EU. Part of the FTA bans illegal fishing practices.
  16. FTA with the EU, are they aware of the "luxury tax" imposed on most items that enter Thailand, that makes most imported items especially food/drink very expensive compared to locally priced items?
  17. August of last year at SCB Bank, on my own, no wife just my passport. 15 minutes later I had a new account.
