COVID-19 twice.
Mild or severe?
At least she can go to Phuket.
She said the original felt like a really bad cold. She said delta felt like she had been hit by a truck. She was actually thinking she wasn’t going to make it. That’s how bad it was. Progressed to her lungs and put on a ventilator. Had her lying down on her front for some reason. Plus all the drugs. Once she was off the respirator, they asked if she wouldn’t mind moving back to a hotel so that others could use the room with a respirator. Plenty lined up to take her place.
yes, my plan was to meet her in Phuket in Jan. But that’s looking (optimistically) 50/50 at this stage.

My gf was given:
Favipiravir(200 mg /tab
Lopinavir / ritonavir (LPV/r)
Rendesivir
Corticosteroid
and has to wait for 90 days to be vaccinated as this is her second time getting COVID-19 (original then delta). Although I’m told this is the case if you’ve been given “monoclonal antibodies” as well.

@ncc1701dwhat are the dimensions of the house? Don't forget the finished pics! Looks like an amazing build for the price! Is it in the 'middle of nowhere'?
Cheers!
I’m not sure about the dimensions… I just asked for a two room + toilet / shower. I will try and get the dimensions. Girlfriend is currently in hotel quarantine with delta (she’s getting better - it really knocked her around), and her family are all in lockdown in chon buri. But when they are able to travel I’ll get the final photos. I’m told the only thing they are waiting on is the new owners to decide what colour they want it. No doubt it will be some bright garish Weird colour ????
They are in phanom sarakham district. About 20 min drive from a city, and about 5 min walk to other farm houses in the area. We did a Crimea style Annexe (bought) a section of a farm they were renting.- 1

Not that I decline to state - but I already don’t drink either.

Have you tried facebook ?
School pages ?
Facebook yes. Linked in. Most of the other social things don’t give enough info away to narrow it down. I could send them messages cold…. But… but creepy. Local German search engines, aunts and uncles names. The girls surnames may have changed, but the brother’s shouldn’t have. She used to (still does?) work for Hapag-Lloyd, but nothing there either.
I’ve not heard of “School pages”.

Opposite for me. Tried to track down a girl I met in Mainz in 1997. Can’t find anything on her, her sister, or brother. Not to stalk, but she gave me some family photos that I wanted to return to her.

Thanks for the replies. The dome idea was dropped long ago. The building was overseen and done by the step father who knows the locals in the area. No chance of me being there. The build was all done in around 10 days. My previous photos were taken around day 7. I wanted to wait for the finished photos before posting, but a whole stack of problems (unrelated to the build) came up, so I’ll get and post them later.

@ncc1701dhave you had a quote for a swimming pool?
Looks like an excellent job so far and with prices that cheap it looks even more appealing to leave Europe and buy a pushbike in Thailand ????
No... they are really simple people who can't even figure out how to use a rice cooker without electrocuting themselves. I dread to think what would happen if I put in a swimming pool. The solar panel idea is good - I just don't have the cash to be doing things like that at the moment. I can't imagine their electricity bills will be too expensive. They have one rice cooker and some LED lights. Before they had literally nothing. Their "rice cooker" was an outside fire pit with a big pot.
My next main concern is their drinking water. I think it can be delivered pretty cheaply.

And was asked to share a room with strangers, in quarantine? Are you out of your mind?
That's what they asked her. They said she can go halves with another person as they are out of rooms for people. I said keep it for anyone else in her family that may get it. Those that are living with her have all been tested and have come back -ve, for now, thankfully.
She got the original covid 19 from her lawyer (who got it from her brother who went out partying when he shouldn't have been. His mother and the lawyer are now both dead. From that, my girlfriend gave it to the rest of her family).
The second one is the delta variant. She got from some clinic in chon buri (the clinic has been shut down for now).

Hospitals are already overwhelmed. My girlfriend got delta 5 days ago. I paid for her to go to a quarantine hotel. After the second day they asked if she could share her room with strangers. Normally I would do the right thing and ask her to agree. But there is a very good chance someone else in her family who are all at risk will also get it and then they would have nowhere to go. Apparently people with covid sleeping out on the streets around quarantine hotel.
She only just got over the first covid 19. She says this one has different symptoms and is much worse than the original.
It's all looking a bit grim.

It’s not the job of a circuit breaker to stop Electriction, it is there to protect the cables, are the cables overheating? No? Then the MCB isn’t interested.
To reduce the time of electrocution (usually less than 30 milliseconds) is the job of an RCCB (or one of the many alternative names for it)Whatever was supposed to work - didn't. Doubt it's even installed tbh.
What does RCCB stand for and do you know what the Thai equivalent would be? I want to make sure it's in the new house.

I haven't forgotten about this thread. But I was hoping to post more than the below photos. As an update, I was initially told B80,000 "for everything". Then was told "everything" didn't include the labour costs... So another B15,000. Then the old lady decided to electrocute herself while staying at my girlfriends place during construction as she had no idea how to use electrical appliances and the circuit breaker didn't trip. Won't go into it more than that, but she's alive and being "educated"... (5 year old did have cancer in her eye and it's been removed. How so many people in my girlfriends family have gotten cancer is very weird to me. genetics I can understand, but this is next level. anyway, I digress).
Because of what happened, I made enquiries as to what electrical protections there were in the house being built - none (of course), so I insisted they sort that out - another... B5,000
Will try and add more photos of the completed house (which was all done in 10 days). But here a a few for now.
400 sqm Land Cost and all fees associated with TX of title B45,000
house parts: B80,000
labour: B15,000
Water pump, hole and tank: B15,700
upgraded circuit breakers B5,000
Total B160,700
I do find it hard to believe it costs this much and I'm intrigued by Mr. Wong's post above. I think I would enjoy doing such things... maybe something I can do in retirement.
I will post more pictures when I get them. After recovering from covid 19, girlfriend just got the delta variant and back into isolation. It's one disaster after another.

Not sure if this has been posted anywhere on TV yet. But once a country has organised enough vaccines for it's entire population - this is the only way forward. If people don't want to take the vaccine - then they can't say they didn't have the opportunity.
Singapore - no tracking, no tracing, no quarantine open borders. Coming soon hopefully.

I have contacted a lawyer in Thailand recently about something similar. Their idea is to do 3 possibly 4 things. Register a loan to your wife, create a usufruct as well as an MOU. My situation is slightly different to yours. I’ll pm you their details. The loan registration to a foreigner varied from region to region, but you can call on the loan at any time (is my understanding) and legally she would hav to sell the property and repay the loan to you. I’ll Pm you who I contacted. I would definitely not do anything without contacting a lawyer first.

Have switched from electric razor (which was not getting a lot of the sporadic hairs on my neck), to a full old school razor set up. As Britman has said, it's cheaper, better and I'm using a lot less plastic. I actually enjoy the process now.
I get all my info and products from www.shavenation.com (he has a great YouTube channel as well)
Shower, pre shave oil, foam up some cream, apply and shave, repeat if required, alum block, after shave.

I don't know how it was arranged, but I can guarantee that it was done and at an international hospital. As for the legality - I have no idea (yes, Thailand)
Either that - or it's the most elaborate new version on the "sick buffalo" story need for money that I've ever heard ????

FWIW, my girlfriends sister in-law had to get an emergency kidney only a few months ago. A living donor who had cancer, had a perfectly good kidney that he wanted to sell before he died to help his family. One kidney cost B50,000. All organised through the doctors / hospital. She's recovering very well. Sorry, can't remember how much the actual surgery etc cost - but the kidney was the most expensive thing out of the whole ordeal.

Actually that's a very good question. I don't know as I mostly use the web browser system for making payments etc. and that does need a Thai number and SMS code. Sometimes use the K+ app for QR code payment and no SMS needed on that. I would expect that a Thai number is needed to set up the app or add payees but not needed to confirm a transfer (the payees I have setup for a long time) and can't remember if a text was actually needed to add them. Maybe others can advise.
Thanks. I managed to open a Bank account before apps were popular and I have a code I can put in on a browser. They asked me to transfer to the app, but when I asked them about Thai number and sms (they would send one time passwords to confirm a transaction), they said that's how they would do it and they wouldn't send to an overseas number. So I still have the older browser and code system and it works fine.

I've had online banking with Kbank since 2004. Their mobile App is super too. Very easy.
Sorry for thread drift... do you have to have a Thai number for this to work? (sending you sms's etc to do banking) or do they push notification via the app?
-
I've never done this, but was thinking of this strategy... Research 5 or more properties that you would be happy to buy. Present your offer for each one at what price you are will to pay via the agent. Whoever replies first gets the sale. If multiple reply, you have a choice.

If the governments would get their sh!t together for once, and provided Phuket is having very low / traceable infections with high rates of vaccinations - there’s no reason why Thailand can’t “annex” Phuket from a quarantine perspective and start this up and allow no quarantine on arrival back to hkg.
-
I would like the government(s) to create these "travel bubbles". There is no point having no restrictions one way, only to return home to be put into hotel quarantine for 2 weeks.

Sounds like Thung Klom-Tan Man 9 (Google Map name) which passes by Tara Pattana International school. They renewed this road about 1-2 years ago. One of my favorite restaurants is there, Vespresso, a gem with a Swiss owner. On the website, the street is called "Pattanakarn Road"
Excellent. I've just looked at some street views and that is looking very much like it is the area. Had a "chrismassy" feel to the place. Spot on. Wow - thanks for your help.
