Unlike other posters, you have my sympathy. Why shouldn't a guy with a good job and plenty of holiday time come here twice a year as a tourist? And surely the country should welcome him with open arms and be pleased. Why should a person in this day and age have a large amount of cash in his pocket? Many of these rules and regulations are just stupid and a decent immigration official should be able to spot a man of means and have the ability to check your funds. With a mindset to catch and deter people they are chasing away good visitors with their endless need for papers and documents. Good luck next time.

I certainly don't regard 20,000 baht as being a large amount of cash.

The immigration officer spoke to my wife (government officer). He want to help, but can’t do anything. It is their computer system barred one day out-in Thailand, as just implemented by the main office. So everywhere Border is the same. He says that if you fly, it is not a problem to do Visa run.

I'm really amazed at the amount of foreigners that are married to Thai ladies that are all Government Officers.

    Where does everyone find them?

i'm going to take names and complain to the my embassy..

You can take as many names as you wish but it won't help going to your Embassy.

Do you honestly believe doing that will solve the problem. They will tell you that getting an extension of stay in a foreign country has nothing to do with them.

Good luck, I hope you manage to sort it out.

I'm disappointed by the obvious lack of swastikas!

we don't know the name of that hotel?

there is one strange thing in the photo: the door on the right, this kind of doorhandle and lock is quite rare in Thailand.

    what are you on ???

You must be a journalist to make up stories like that. ????????

Nothing rare about the handle and lock.  i have 5 of those in my house and so do the other 147 houses in the village.

I got nailed at Jomtien last month when I needed one for my new driving licence. 1,000 baht. When I said I thought it was free, I was told, not for a long time. No receipt of course, so this is definitely not an isolated case. Big Joke is going to be working his nuts off for a very long time to come.

I have had many from Jomtien and have never been asked or heard of anyone paying 1000 baht.

The going price is 300 baht.

Sorry but I don't believe for 1 minute you were charged 1000 baht.

The law is alcohol is for sale until 2pm

So he is perfectly entitled to obtain his goodies prior to then and then and  perambulate to the check out.... "ITS IS HERE THE POINT OF SALE CAN BE REFUSED" due to being out of time or planets not being in line or whatever. Not at some half brained whim of Somchai and his merry mates hiding in an aisle

If he got there at 2.01 yep cannot!

The law maybe 2pm but he is not ENTITLED to anything.

When your in somebody's house they make the rules and can or cannot serve you.

They can open and shut their door whenever they like.

Tesco might be doing it on purpose. Retail trick. People expect the bigger pack to be cheaper and are too lazy to make the calculation.

    Correct.

Customers always tend to go for the larger pack as they automatically believe that it will save them money.

This is normal practice throughout the world not just Thailand.

I wonder when the authorities become embarrassed enough that they start busting trash-collecting tourists for cleaning up Thailand without a work permit?

    Thai Media:
"Tourist Can't Just Come To Thailand and Do What They Want - Like Picking Up Trash!!!"  <cut to horrified locals suffering from lose of face>

    Was waiting for that.

The old work permit never ceases to enter the topic.

About time some grew up, it's getting more than boring.

All my pay goes to the wife, as she is much better at budgeting then I am and I don't have to worry about paying the bills, food shopping or what have you. And she has her own business as well. She does not spend money on frivolous things. Bit of a tight wad. Never have money problems. if I was in charge, we'd be in a mess. No arguments in 15 years.

    No arguments in 15 years?

    Sorry I don't believe it.

    Not at all normal.

Or maybe you or both of you don't have a personal opinion about anything.

Thank you. With regards to your application I think it's disgraceful. I have been reading reports on some immigration forums and it may be worth contacting your local MP as a matter of urgency to get a conclusion to your situation.

Here's wishing you a speedy and positive conclusion.

    Thank you Creweser!

    Received this morning..
15 working days will make it 106 working days in total and that is only to be contacted.
We more than satisfy the requirements needed for a settlement visa so no idea the continued delay
