I really don't understand how you even need to ask this question.
If I was so worried about a simple thing like this I would pack my bags and go live elsewhere. I couldn't live under fear of being arrested.

Unlike other posters, you have my sympathy. Why shouldn't a guy with a good job and plenty of holiday time come here twice a year as a tourist? And surely the country should welcome him with open arms and be pleased. Why should a person in this day and age have a large amount of cash in his pocket? Many of these rules and regulations are just stupid and a decent immigration official should be able to spot a man of means and have the ability to check your funds. With a mindset to catch and deter people they are chasing away good visitors with their endless need for papers and documents. Good luck next time.
I certainly don't regard 20,000 baht as being a large amount of cash.

I'm just asking for the reasons for expensive beer in Thailand, nothing more.
Why is bottled water or coke so expensive in the UK?
Because it is.
Profit.
What ever the market will take.
wake up and live in the real world or go home if your that concerned over 5 baht.

The immigration officer spoke to my wife (government officer). He want to help, but can’t do anything. It is their computer system barred one day out-in Thailand, as just implemented by the main office. So everywhere Border is the same. He says that if you fly, it is not a problem to do Visa run.
I'm really amazed at the amount of foreigners that are married to Thai ladies that are all Government Officers.
Where does everyone find them?

i'm going to take names and complain to the my embassy..
You can take as many names as you wish but it won't help going to your Embassy.
Do you honestly believe doing that will solve the problem. They will tell you that getting an extension of stay in a foreign country has nothing to do with them.
Good luck, I hope you manage to sort it out.

I'm disappointed by the obvious lack of swastikas!
we don't know the name of that hotel?
there is one strange thing in the photo: the door on the right, this kind of doorhandle and lock is quite rare in Thailand.
what are you on ???
You must be a journalist to make up stories like that. ????????
Nothing rare about the handle and lock. i have 5 of those in my house and so do the other 147 houses in the village.

Nope, that's not an answer, 10 days.
I assume he was hoping for the 12 weeks (3 months) leave that the students get every year.
They don't have 3 months leave in October....
The long holiday Centers around Songkran then the start of a new school year.

I got nailed at Jomtien last month when I needed one for my new driving licence. 1,000 baht. When I said I thought it was free, I was told, not for a long time. No receipt of course, so this is definitely not an isolated case. Big Joke is going to be working his nuts off for a very long time to come.
I have had many from Jomtien and have never been asked or heard of anyone paying 1000 baht.
The going price is 300 baht.
Sorry but I don't believe for 1 minute you were charged 1000 baht.

In most major cities you pay 150 for a small bottle and in the clubs 220-240 for a small bottle.
He doesn't consider anything. Obviously the OP thinks they can opperate on fresh air.
Simple... Stay at home and drink or sit on the steps outside a 7-11 and drink it.
People like that really wind me up.
Oh and by the way...
200% mark up in any bar etc is the norm throughout the Western world.

The law is alcohol is for sale until 2pm
So he is perfectly entitled to obtain his goodies prior to then and then and perambulate to the check out.... "ITS IS HERE THE POINT OF SALE CAN BE REFUSED" due to being out of time or planets not being in line or whatever. Not at some half brained whim of Somchai and his merry mates hiding in an aisle
If he got there at 2.01 yep cannot!
The law maybe 2pm but he is not ENTITLED to anything.
When your in somebody's house they make the rules and can or cannot serve you.
They can open and shut their door whenever they like.

Never heard such nonsense.
Just walk in the bank and do a transfer.
2 months ago i went to my SCB branch on Beach Road, Pattaya and transfered just over 4 mil to another bank.
All done in less than 10 minutes.

You can buy English Cheddar in Pattaya from as little as 99 baht a kilo.
Why you bother bringing any over?
If your not staying anywhere near Pattaya I'm sure someone could EMS you some in a cooler pack.

Tesco might be doing it on purpose. Retail trick. People expect the bigger pack to be cheaper and are too lazy to make the calculation.
Correct.
Customers always tend to go for the larger pack as they automatically believe that it will save them money.
This is normal practice throughout the world not just Thailand.

The answer is in the word...
GUARANTOR...
Your friend guaranteed to make full payment if the buyer defaulted.
He can't all a sudden tell the bank that he will no longer be responsible.
If he could, what would be the point of a guarantor?
He signed on the dotted line, now be needs to honour his word like a true gentleman.

I wonder when the authorities become embarrassed enough that they start busting trash-collecting tourists for cleaning up Thailand without a work permit?
Thai Media:
"Tourist Can't Just Come To Thailand and Do What They Want - Like Picking Up Trash!!!" <cut to horrified locals suffering from lose of face>Was waiting for that.
The old work permit never ceases to enter the topic.
About time some grew up, it's getting more than boring.

All my pay goes to the wife, as she is much better at budgeting then I am and I don't have to worry about paying the bills, food shopping or what have you. And she has her own business as well. No arguments in 15 years?
Sorry I don't believe it.
Not at all normal.
Or maybe you or both of you don't have a personal opinion about anything.

Thank you. With regards to your application I think it's disgraceful. I have been reading reports on some immigration forums and it may be worth contacting your local MP as a matter of urgency to get a conclusion to your situation.
Here's wishing you a speedy and positive conclusion.
Thank you Creweser!

Surprised to see counter staff handling meat with bare hands at Big C Extra.

Nothing unusual to handle meat without gloves.
I suppose the OP would expect a chef to have gloves when preparing and cooking his meal.
Anyone that wears disposable gloves when cooking is asking for a disaster to happen.
As for 2 pieces of THICK Ausi sirloin for 250 baht, ???? Maybe 2 x 6oz steaks would be more like it.
