  1. That is what was said about LeMann Bros Bank and BearSterns plus some banks in other countries in 2007-2010. No such thing as Cannot fail.
  2. I had very similar issues and experience with Citibank about 5 years ago. I am an Australian and in theory I was dealing with Citibank in Australia where I had 4 multi currency accounts (AUD, USD, CAD & EUR). The results were that I closed the 4 Citibank accounts and blocked all contact from their "customer recovery section". Citibank lost a good profitable account: Transfer WISE gained that good account: and I saved money, have on going good service and no hassles. Cheers for now.
  3. Very common practice to share such useful intelligence in Australia.
  4. What about Aussie, Kiwi (NZ) or South African just to add into the decision making.
  5. What about Trump having his ear shot off? He had a great recovery. A week later, it was all good, with no scarring, completely in place, and healed. He does better than lizards, which can grow back a missing tail, but it takes them more than a week.
  6. I fully agree. On their $30-$35 prepaid 30-day plan, there is a good data allowance (I have forgotten the GB) plus calls to many countries (including Thailand) are part of the unlimited calls component. Excellent coverage as they use the Telstra network.
  7. I agree. My WR Life cover is for hospital inpatient only and was taken out when I was 75 years of age. I pay GBP 4.400 per year and if no claims then no fee increase. Covers me with no deductibles, for good grade hospitals in most countries (15 days max for USA and Canada) plus medevac to the location of suitable specialist services (ICU etc). So far so good.
  8. Many thanks for the good information. I will follow up and visit them; cheers and best wishes.
  9. Our Isuzu SUV is 8 years old with only 115,000 km on the clock. It has a few markings/scratches/chipped duco on it as fair wear and tear. That bothers my wife, and I tell her they are incidents that do not give rise to an insurance claim. Can anyone point me to a service provider in the Pattaya area that does motor vehicle body touch-ups, chipped duco touch-ups and makeovers of similar "fair wear and tear" markings? The vehicle will no longer be "broken," and a happy wife means a happy life. Cheers and thanks.
  10. Spot on. For many years, Australian federal law is that under age sex in another country by an Australian is a crime punishable as if it had happened in Australia. I believe that law has been very effective in tackling the issue of "Australian sex tourists going to South East Asia, Africa and other locations".
  11. Hearsay only, but I have heard that claiming there are ghosts/demons in the premises are acceptable grounds to terminate a residential lease without penalty in Thailand. Could be worth a shot, especially if you look terrified when meeting with the landlord/agent and you describe your experiences and the sounds you are hearing. You initiate the meeting as the demons/ghosts are most upsetting and you got to get away from them!!
  12. very true. I have used AldiMobile for many years. Great customer support, great coverage in Aus (they use the Telstra network) and best value. I have an AldiMobile SIM for my OZ mobile, and online I recharge it with a series of call/data/text 30 day packages when I am in OZ. I also have a separate data only SIM that sits in my laptop when I am in Aus.
  13. Good day, several years ago, I have a very similar problem with CommBank and accessing online banking from outside of Australia. The branch and my Relationship Manager wanted me to use the NetBank App but at that time the SMS message for two factor authentication (2FA) for some reason would only work within Australia (not to an overseas phone number). We solved the problem by using the CommBank dongle technology and that does work here in Thailand, Philippines, and Canada. Most of the time when I login from overseas, I have to give it a second shot at logging in, and it always works on that second time. As the CommBank is trying to phase out the dongle technology, the bad news is that you may have to be physically present in Australia for the CommBank to provide you with a dongle - in my case it took about 10 days for the dongle to come through to a branch in Brisbane and to then to activate it. Good luck in getting a dongle without being physically present at a branch in Australia. Cheers and best wishes.
  14. In the processes for adoption of my spouse's Thai son, I had to obtain a criminal history check from Australia as my country of nationality. Does the same apply for the Thailand Elite visa application???
