Speaking to a bloke in the pub last night and he reckons flight prices are going to drop by 25% in the new year, he wouldnt reveal his sources but says he read it on the internet!!

Just done a search for my preferred dates in Jan and its coming up at less than £430 from Manchester with Etihad, good connections too. Very temped to book but i would like another airline really i.e. CI or KLM to boost my points and/or upgrade.

Do you well educated guys reckon there is any truth in this guys ramblings?

If the flight out is soon enough then i can see no problem, try Bangkok Airlines too.

Christmas eve im going to hang my balls on the tree, dress in a red suit and sneak round a few bedrooms to empty my sack. And on Christmas morning i'll be stuffing my festive bird, all this without even setting foot in Thailand!

Just been watching it on Al Jazera live, looks like a whole bunch of trouble is brewing in Bangkok. What a shame!

Are there fewer tourists around town at the moment? I suppose it has to have an effect with no new tourists coming in and the ones who are there slowly getting out of the country.

Does anyone know how to or anyone who as managed to get on one of those empty planes flying it to pick up stranded pax?

Only spent 10 minutes there but it is very small, just saw one luggage carousel, don't know about immigrations booths as i was coming in on a internal flight, suspect not many but temp ones should be in place i suspect.

Roads around are ok, would guess best to get on to Bang Na- Trat highway to get to or from north of Bangkok. However as its going to be very busy this could be different

Small train that takes you to and from the aircraft are going to be busy. Hope this helps.

Coming to Pattaya this Thursday for 10 days after a couple of nights in Bangkok.

Im not trying to organise a meet up but just thought it might be nice to drop in to ''your locals'' for a drink and a chat. It would be nice to put some faces to some names also.

i would only monitor the airport for any trouble.

As that is our route in, its the only thing that worries me a little bit. Not getting caught up in a riot just that it may close or there be severe delays.

Heading to Pattaya in 2 weeks with a couple of friends who have never been to Thailand before. Im not really concerned with the happenings in Bangkok having any negative effect on our holiday but quite understandably, they are a bit worried.

Does anyone think there will be any trouble in Pattaya?
