    Of course it is.....Sharks / Scams / Skimming / Swindle / Sting / Shakedown / Sham / Shady Deals / Sharp Practice.........

But........For me the positives far outway the negatives once you learn to go with the flow. When I come back to the village near Surin the S simply stands for SMILES, Smiles from the locals, Smiles from the shopkeepers, Smiles from the children......Priceless..... I truly hope you find your way here....

Like you, I am always lad to get back to my village outside Chiang Rai for the very same reasons! Unfortunately some forget the shit that went on where they came from!

  2. Had exactly the same thing happen to me at the 7/11 at Huai Sak, just after Christmas. Bitch thought she was smarter than an old farang, but I watched exactly what she did and called her out on it! She put the 1000 baht bill under the till before she opened the lid on the money box. When I told her that I gave her 1000 baht she said no and kept arguing that it had only been 100. I told her exactly what she had done and that I would come behind the counter and show her the note that she had put under the till. Aha! Then a big mistake. She went all apologetic and gave me my correct change and now I watch her every time I go into the store.

no the international driverslicense is valid for 90 days, you have to do a borderrun and it's valid again for 90 days...isn't it?

That's whay they told me...well actually (in holland) they told me it's valid for a whole year, when i asked about that 90 day rule they couldn't answer me and had never heard of that strange rule.

Where can we read those rules on a official page?

The period of validity depends on which country you plan on driving in! It is up to YOU to ascertain what the rules are before leaving your home country. As for travelling without sufficient, effective insurance, that is absolute insanity! Why should strangers be expected to fund your stupidity and negligence with these ridiculous "GofundMe" begging pages?! Even if you have travel insurance, most policies will not cover any injury sustained from being on a motorcycle, as a rider or a passenger! People should also read their policy before paying to ensure that you are covered for what you want to do!

The head stomping, laughing and photos comes from the original Thaivisa thread quoting someones Facebook post.

"according to an account from someone who claimed to have seen the incident and posted on the Pattaya 24/7 Facebook group".

No Police, media outlet etc has mentioned the head stomping etc. Its been repeated ad nausium on this thread, with 3-4 head stomps being added to each retelling.

Shouldn't have been ANY "head stomping" by this cowardly thug!

I didn't see a photo so I don't know if the American is ugly or not.   American law allows for holding Americans overseas liable for crimes that are committed there and that break USA laws.  So, depending on the circumstances, lawyers, politicians, etc.  many things could happen to this man.

Ugly or not, he is definitely a brain dead coward and thoroughly deserves whatever miseries happen to him in the prison system!!

Not all Americans are gun lovers- I am American- and I do not care for guns- and never owned them.  I had to use guns while I was in the Army and that was enough for me. Most Americans want limits on the type of guns; who can own them and how they will be utilized.

American History is rife with gun usage and they were essential during America's expansion Westward- guns were used for protection as well as to garner food for the day or for the upcoming winter.  However, when one went to a built up area like a town or village- normally the local constable had guns checked at the police station and then picked up when one left the built up area.

Americans do believe in the second amendment  of the US Constitution which allows Americans to own guns but the extent of this ownership and limits are what is under debate. I do not believe guns have a place in an urban environment but I do believe in rural areas- they may be useful.  The problem America has now is that there are hundreds of millions of guns that have been proliferated by business; conservative governments and individuals who believe the 2nd Amendment gives one unlimited rights to own and carry guns.

Unfortunately, both the federal and state governments have been remiss in enforcing current laws and passing reasonable laws for the protection of ALL citizens- someone who want to limit the ownership of guns. For example- why does a private owner need 20-30-or 40 guns?; Why would a private owner need a semi automatic weapon that is similar to weapons of war?; Why does a private owner need thousands of rounds of ammunition? Why is there no universal registration of guns in America in a single database to be matched against people with criminal records and/or mental illness?

The police and other law enforcement have a duty to carry weapons but not use them indiscriminately. No doubt- they are in fear of their lives but they know that when applying and being accepted as a peace officer. Part of the modus operandi of a police person must be to take down a person with the least force possible- not to shoot to kill because one is threatened but only shoot to kill when there is no other way. Being afraid is not justification. Just like in war- being afraid of civilians who might be enemy collaborators is not justification for shooting.

    A brilliant observation!! Absolutely correct.

It is, without a doubt, a very questionable action by the police officer, but it is never a good idea to be in what could likely be a conflict situation.   The lady should not have been outside when the police arrived.   The only time that is a wise move is if the suspected perpetrator is inside.

Can't follow your reasoning. Why, exactly, should she have not been outside when the police arrived? The more relevant question is why this cop found it necessary to open fire on the first thing that he saw instead of getting out of the car and ascertaining what the situation was? will we see the old saw "feared for his life" used as an excuse for this ladies murder?!

Toon needs to put an administration cost on the donations, I think his plans are just to divide all money between the 11 hospitals, notice how the gov. tried to belittle his effort by saying how much they pay.

Just imagine the amount that the government could have given to the public hospital system had all that money not been wasted on that bloody white elephant aircraft carrier and the damned useless submarines!! General P should hang his head in shame over the governments neglect!!
