    Thanks everybody for the replies.

In my opinion, on May 23 it is going to be 91 consecutive days in Thailand, so I'd need a 90 day report before that date or else pay 2000 baht for being late!

I'm going to visit the Imm. Office (Chiang Mai) the next coming days to be sure.

    Cheers

Technically, you can report in person up to 7 dats  (hmmm....consider that about 6 days as they may consider your due date as day 1 of the 7-day period) after the due date.

Regardless, just use the drive-thru window (or adjacent walk-up window) as that typically takes only a few minutes.  All they need there is your passport and a completed TM47.

Edit:  If the officer gives you a new TM47 Receipt of Notification, that would indicate you correctly and timely filed the report; alternatively, if the officer for some reason hands you back your passport and TM47 and tells you that you had no need to report, that'd be an answer too.  Come back to this thread and give us the lowdown.

It starts neither date.  Neither of those entries grants you more than 90 days, so there is no 90 day report required.  The date starts from when you get the 1-year extension.  The immigration officer will attach a slip of paper into your passport that includes when your next (first) 90-day report will be due.

The general rule is that a 90-day report (TM47) is due to be filed if/when one stays within Thailand for 90 consecutive days.  That general rule would not apply in 2 situations:

    (1) When you converted in-country to a Non-O AND the immigration office when converting adds a TM47 Receipt of Notification (with reporting date) to your passport.  Obviously, just report by the new date given.

    (2) If one believes the reports, apparently some (few?) immigration offices take the position that a new annual extension starts over a new 90-day time period....but I wouldn't buy that concept unless you're given a new TM47 Receipt of Notification at the time you get your annual extension.  I'd note that Chiangmai Immigration does not take this view (up here, 90-day time periods and annual extension dates are separate/independent).

well then immigration in CM is corrupt and taking bribes to file false documents.

And you're presuming that happened in CM.  I don't as, even when using an agent, the person extending needs to show up at Immigration here in CM (mainly for the photo).

It was inside the mall in its own room surely it had AC. They had overflow in the outside area but that was inside the mall too. I remember it all having AC as you would expect in a mall.

That's not the way it was initially.  I do remember (same as Worgeordie) that when the airport Immigration building closed, we had to get to Promenada very early and had to queue up outside with the hope of ending up with a reasonable queue number so we could get the annual extension before the staff's lunch break.  There were even people claiming they actually showed up at 3-4AM and said even then that there were agents (or their "sitters")  already sitting in the first seats with a bagful of passports and various Immigration paperwork.

Later (once new Immigration building was finished?), the office at Promenada moved upstairs.....but, if I recall right, they no longer did annual extensions out there (not 100% sure of that as from that point on I only went to the airport Immigration building).

They are required to clearly state that they are not a government provider and must obtain your explicit consent to their terms, and not straight to payment. They also fail to display any company information, which is a major red flag.

Right now, their site is misleading and lacks the necessary transparency.

In the interests of transparency, your website could be clearer.  The only reference to the "official" TDAC website is at the very top and may be missed by some visitors to your website (took me three attempts to find any language that somewhat said your TDAC isn't official).

Out of curiosity, when a person comes to your website and fills in the personal information, what do you do with it?  Do you then duplicate that personal information on the official TDAC website? And does the personal information provided languish on your server?  I think it's great for other non-official websites to assist visitors but, given some people dislike providing personal information to any government website, they are a bit wary of unnecessarily providing the same personal information to a commercial website.

  6. The system is working.  Filed online the 16th although rejected the 17th.  No reason given for the rejection although the rejection email said I needed to go to Immigration "immediately."  I'm guessing the rejection is because I re-entered the country at the end of January and they are requiring the first application to be done in person after re-entering the country.  No problem, my "immediately" will be handled via the CM drive-through window in a few days.

  7. No problem.  The last Songkran event here in CM will be a procession tomorrow afternoon from Three Kings to the Governor's residence....and there likely will be some water tossing during that event; other than that, water tossing is pretty much finished here in CM after today.

Where are you talking about?  This is the Chiangmai forum and what you were told simply isn't going to happen here.

  9. At least here in Chiangmai, any pedestrian that crosses a street at any type of crossing (a marked zebra crossing regardless if stoplights, signs, or whatever are present) without at least watching for cars or motorcycles totally ignoring it and speeding on through is simply taking a gamble.   Seems that stoplights, stop signs, and other traffic signals are simply "advisory" for some drivers here.

...........I kept 500K +throughout the many years now of having this fixed deposit account)

By "fixed deposit account", do you mean you simply keep the funds in a separate savings account that's simply a one-year term account, an account which you can get access to (withdraw) anytime you want although you would lose accrued interest if you did so?  I'm guessing that is what you are calling a "fixed deposit" account.....as any other type of regular savings account that has a fixed term (one year, two year, etc.) that you cannot get access to in the interim would not qualify as a bank account to support an annual extension based on either marriage or retirement.  (I'm not asking about a foreign currency account here)

  11. For Chiangmai:

    1.  Completed TM 7 form (with photo- 4 x 6cm).  And neatly write your phone number below your signature on 2nd page.

    2. Photocopy of passport pages: entire photo-page including the code numbers and page showing entry stamp. Sign your full name in blue ink on both photocopies.

For "reasons for extension", just write "extending vacation" or something like that.

    3. 1,900 baht.

    4. Typically want a photocopy of TM30 too (has been required last couple of years).

This year (last month) I got my bank letter and passbook update the day before applying and CM on the day of applying still required another update to the fixed account passbook!

That's the first report I've ever seen or heard of the "same-day-as-application" bank paperwork involving annual extensions here in Chiangmai.

I do presume you're talking about an extension based on retirement and keeping 800k baht in the bank.  And you only mention the bank letter.....weren't you also required to produce an annual statement showing you've maintained the 800/400k baht figures as required?

Unfortunately, I was told by the Bank that they do not issue such certificates; that one must complete them oneself by visiting a web-site whose URL they provided:  https://www.rd.go.th

I have had zero issue in obtaining interest withholding statements from both Siam Commercial Bank and Bangkok Bank.  And they are used to providing these documents (i.e., I've done this a few times before and there's never any confusion or questioning as to what I am requesting).   Just tell them what you want and for what years and typically the forms are provided in 5-10 minutes.

I've filed returns for both 2566 and 2567 and received back checks refunding the 15% withheld from bank interest.  No problem.

Just been told that Central Airport and Central Festival are closed while they check for any earthquake damage.

Anyone have any news about this?

All the malls closed right after the earthquake....but would think they are all open now.  Rim Ping grocery at Maya sent a message saying

they were closed right after the earthquake (I'd imagine they might have had some items fall off their shelves and wanted to clean and

examine for any damage) but said their inspections were fine and they would be open this morning.

I note CM saying they want that on day of application (typical CM)

Unless this is a new requirement, it wasn't the case when I converted from exempt to Non-O three years ago.  I obtained the bank letter the day before application.  I also had the funds in the bank for a long time (as in years) so there was no need to show the funds came from abroad.

Edit: My experience was with Chiangmai Immigration.

They always give me a new 90 day when they stamp my extension.

I've done extensions and 90-day reports here in CM for almost 15 years and they have always been independent of any annual extension based on retirement (i.e., they've never done anything  TM47-wise when I applied and received annual extensions based on retirement).  I accept that this has happened to you here in CM as you say it has always happened to you.....but that's the first time I've ever heard of that happening to anybody (again, referring to annual extensions based on retirement).
