  1. A few years ago I was bitten by an Alsatian in a resort in Chaweng beach. Although not bad, it drew blood and a very large bruise. I managed to track the owner and finally he coughed up the money for the jabs. From what I remember, it was not cheap and there was a course of about 5 or 6. That was a while ago though. I got mine done at the hospital in Chaweng, name escapes me.

It sounds like the cat needs putting down, attacked 2 in as many hours? The cats eratic behaviour would certainly concern me, and personally, I think you should take the injection course.

  2. You need to contact a chap called Paul Hawkings. He is the manager for many live acts on the island including Ovada and Sensation. Both of these are fillipino bands and can bee seen regularly at Tropical Murphy's, Coyote, and Samui Shamrock in Lamai. If you can't find him through a search (try thai entertainment) I am fairly sure one of the restaurants could help as they have been working alonside him for many years.

  3. Both you and your friend should buy a copy of Private Dancer, (a book by Stephen Leather) and take it down to Starbucks or Coffee World and read it whilst taking deep breaths through you nose.

  4. When renewing road tax and insurance for my bike, I used to recieve a colourful tax disc and a square white one which I assumed was the insurance. When I recently went to renew them both I only recieved a colourful square one which apparently now includes the insurance. Is this right or have I got lost in translation.

  5. Help please. Where can I find a street vendor selling decent sized BBQ chicken (not fried), som tam, stickey rice and narm jim. I dont like the chicken that appears to have been basted in some sort of orange dye. The last 2 mornings I have woken up at 8ish unable to find anything like what I am after. There used to be a good stall down the ghost road (dissapeared now, pun intended) but my searchings in Laem Din and Chaweng have proved fruitless.

  6. Tropical Murphy's have a quiz every Monday at 8.30. I think it's the same quiz master (Johnny O) that does some of the others. We joined last week, came third from about 15 or 16 teams, missed out on the prizes but a great laugh. They have some Guinness promotion too Not serious, plenty of banter and free to enter. Personally I like my quizzes but I have found in the past an entry fee makes the quiz too serious and the focus is taken from having fun to winning.

I was in TM's about 2 weeks ago, saw the ads for the quiz and when I asked the waitress about it she said that they didn't have it anymore. I guess she meant just not that week? Or maybe the quizmaster was taking a break?

I think that Mondays quiz was the first since the low season. I guess it was suspended during the quiet period. It is certainly a regular event now as Johhny was rallying teams for the next week.

  7. Hillary Bars 1,2, 3 and morning night closed on the 7th and 8th, anyone know if everywhere is closed

If they serve food and have paid their bribe money plenty of places will be open. :)

    That's not how it works.

  9. My friend was shot in the hand in Solo a few years ago. Although the bullet was not aimed at him it managed to find its way by means of a ricochet. It was meant for the security guard who moments earlier denied a young male Thai entry for being underage. The bullet shatterd bones and muscles and to this day still (and always will) has limited movement.

  10. You will have just missed out on a trip down south to Song Kla that Tropical Murphy's are arranging, but if you pop in there or the Irish Times, the managers should be able to point you in the right direction. I think there is a league and limited training goes on. You would probably get a game with the locals at any given evening down at the lake.

  11. You need a bar that has Super Sport which is beamed from SA. The billing of the fight starts at 8am Thai time so those guys should be on around 11 or 12 depending on the distance of the other bouts. The same system would also show the rugby. I am guessing from the teams that you are Irish so I would suggest you head to Molly Malones in Soi Convent where they will have both the fight and the rugby. Come on Hatton!
