As mentioned before  blue one is "World gas"  green is "PTT"  orange is Unique gas,  all LPG  there are not many places that will re-fill  your own bottle..they mostly insist on an exchange  that must be of the same  color bottle.

Some "unscrupulous" ?  LPG stations have used vehicle  LPG because its slightly cheaper ( subsidised more) than cooking LPG

vehicle stations (mostly) will not fill up a cooking bottle for you I think its actually against the law for them to do it..but no doubt some would do it.

Yes thanks following from your earlier lead that is what I found out.

It still seems odd to me that the orange unique gas bottle that is available for 740b on Lazada that the same gas bottle from PTT the green one start in about 1200b. I guess it's just the same market forces that allow large incumbent companies everywhere to charge more for much the same product.

Wonder when I go for an exchange if they exchange it for the same companies bottle.

Those are 4kg picnic sets. Go to your local gas shop to make proper bottle price comparison for new and refill.

Yes for sure have you got a clue as to why the price difference in the colors? I know they will be able to answer it the problem will be if I can understand the answer! 555

I guess what I thought was a very simple question turns out to be not so simple an answer.

Both come with the stove unit, the more expensive one seems rather more elaborate.

No again this is just a poor example.

    EDIT

The red is the cheap the blue is the medium and the green is the expensive

The LPG bottle gas price for new and refill are quite close between brands. Be sure you are comparing same size bottle when checking prices as not all use same weight range.

The 4kg with vertical picnic connector can be more expensive when calculating gas content.

Examples of the many LPG bottle variations but Baht/kg is about the same.

Colors - Green, Blue, Red, Orange

    Size - 4kg, 7kg, 11.5kg, 13.5kg, 15kg, 48kg

Brands - PTT, WP Energy, Unique Gas, Siam Gas

Great thanks for the comprehensive answer I was just using the links as color images I didn't even look at that sizes.

But you can see from these two links they are both empty bottles virtually identical but have a significant price difference. Noting that they are both delivered from Lazada empty.

If they really do have the same fitting then they're regular LPG, in which case I have no idea why a large price difference. You could try asking the gas supplier.

Perhaps a link to the different bottles on Lazada would help us.

Yes of course. To be quite honest I thought the answer was going to be very straightforward.

These are the three different colored bottles.

It's the type of gas within and the regulator fitting.

I don't think we are talking about the same thing. I have had a close look and they all appear to be LPG and from what I can tell the fittings are much the same. I am aware that colour coding is used for different types of gas but that is not the differences I'm referring to here.

Thanks for all the peripheral tips but I really want to know what is different with the bottles. It could just be a different supplier but the large cost difference makes me think not.

I have plenty of places to go to purchase so really just after information about the different colours I'm chasing.

    • What type of gas do you need?
    • Regulator fitting (male, female, push-on)?
    • How are you going to get it re-filled?

Assuming it's not a specialist gas get one from your local gas chap and exchange for a full one when empty.

Well that is not what I expected!

Was planning on going to the local gas guy for the refill part but liked to be armed with a little knowledge before that.

LPG is the gas I need and I have the hose and regulator male type. Standard aussie fitting.

Was planning on getting one of the cheap gas burners to mount on as well, though pretty sure I will require some type of adapter for that.

  8. Hoping someone can explain the difference in the 3 gas cylinder colours red blue and a turquoise green.

Given the price difference im assuming an expiration date on the bottle but I am clueless.

Probably going to order 1 from lazada only after a small 4kg.

    Cheers

  9. This information is only relevant for Pattaya immigration applying for O Visa for purposes of retirement.

I've just returned from Pattaya immigration for the second time in two days. I confirmed with separate immigration officers on consecutive days that you are required to have 800,000b in the bank 2 months prior to your application. Confirming there is no other way to fund your application.

The check list of other requirements are in this PDF given to me by the front desk and confirmed as being correct by desk 8.

    923150486_1551323081128-NonImmOretirementrequirements.pdf

Hopefully with a lot of discussion surrounding changing to an O Visa to circumvent having to pay for health insurance this will help others.

As the OP's goal is a 1-year non-o extension based on retirement, it is "less bad" than a non-o extension based on marriage (different desks / personnel) - but the "prove your income" requirement, with the OP's non-pension / non-consistent income, could be problematic.

Seems we are not getting to the stage of this "non-pension / non-consistent income" being a problem. As mentioned I was told yesterday to change from visa exempt to o visa finance requirements are 800000b seasoned for 2 months. Nothing else acceptable.

I am going to go back again today to see if I can tease out some written information.

You are not applying for a 1 year extension. A conversion from a 30 days visa exempt to a 90 days Non-Immigrant O is not the same thing, and like I said earlier, you can't get an income letter from your embassy. That's why Jomtien  Immigration desk 7 doesn't accept the income method for the conversion. They do accept it for annual extensions, though.

I am well aware I am not applying for an extension. I am applying for an O Visa.

There is contradictory information and it seems that Pattaya immigration is not playing by the police order from what experienced BMs have posted.

The embassy in Vientiane will issue a single entry non-o visa. You would need financial proof, a police clearance certificate and a medical certificate. They can done here.

The consulates in Savannakhet and Penang will issue one with financial proof only and proof you are retired.

Scrounging around looking at options now.

Curious to know what are the chances of them accepting your foreign bank account for the 800000 (in Laos) in the same way that it was accepted when I applied for an OA Visa in my home country.

  13. 1 minute ago, ubonjoe said:

The 2 transfers might be part of the problem since they may not be aware that it is allowed in the police order.

Have they offered to do it yet for some extra money? That been reported before.

You may have to go to Savannakhet or Penang to get a non-o visa if they keep refusing it.

No currently I am on my extension of stay on my OA Visa until the 22nd of March. So I have made no application for an O Visa yet.

My plan was to do a Visa Run to Cambodia. Then return and make my application in Pattaya.

Is there an option to possibly use an immigration office in Bangkok or am I obliged to use Pattaya immigration because I live here.

  14. 2 minutes ago, ubonjoe said:

Pattaya/Jomtien immigration are known for making it difficult to apply for a non immigrant visa.

The even make it difficult if you have proof from your embassy. They have asked for the signature on them to verified by Department of Consular Affairs in Bangkok.

Also the 800k baht in the bank for 2 or 3 months.

The proof of income by way of transfers into the country is shown in a police order so it should be accepted for a visa application.

How many months of transfers did you have to show?

From the point of making the application I will have 2 65,000 deposits.

I was previously setting up for the OA extension combination method 340000 2 months before and 12 x 40,000 or more. Total 820,000

  15. 37 minutes ago, ubonjoe said:

The website has not been updated to show the option of transferring funds into the country to prove your income.

It is allowed but not shown.

This one from another immigration website does not mention it either.

     https://division1.immigration.go.th/download/1551323081128.pdf

Thanks I had seen that information.

But my concern is that the verbal information that I received today from Pattaya immigration said that only 800,000 was acceptable. 65000 per month was not when coming from Visa exempt Status.

  16. Okay so I thought I'd do something unusual and I went to the actual Thailand immigration website and I think I have found the information I am looking for with regards to the proof of income.

    https://www.immigration.go.th/content/service_80

I have included a screenshot below and highlighted a section. You can see that it is listed under the wrong heading like most of them are.

So from my reading of this unless you are from a country that the Embassy still provides proof of income documents you need 800000 in the bank.

I'm just tagging you @Peter Denis Because I think this pertains to your road map though I will be happily corrected.

That doc is about the 1 year extension. Those requirements differs a bit compared to the conversion from a 30 days visa exempt to a 90 days Non-immigrant O Visa. Desk 7 at Jomtien Immigration which handles the conversions are very strict regarding the requirements. The two ladies working there are not very friendly sometime. There is a document checklist available at the front desk.

I don't think that's the case at all as it seems to be referring specifically to the O Visa in that section that I have shown.

Having said that I have just returned from Chonburi immigration I was told that to change from a tourist exempt Visa to an O Visa I could only use the 800 000 in the bank method and not the monthly method.

it's fine, I've done it maybe 10+ times, time goes quickly

Cheers for that. I think I will probably just use your recommendation it's about the cheapest and comes with your ticket approval.

Just have to sort it out sometime before the 22nd of March. Of course being retired it doesn't leave me much time! 555

have you done the minivan thing before?

No it's the first time and it sounds like it's probably going to be my last. Ignoring the negatives it just seems to me the simplest way to get it out of the way.

It's really quite an unfortunate bit of timing as I only came back from Australia a week ago, had I known then what I know now I wouldn't have purchased the re-entry permit!

You can apply for a Non-Immigrant O Visa in Pattaya at Jomtien Immigration Office. Fee is 2,000 baht. If using 800,000 in Thai bank,

    Thanks thanks for that information.

I'm using the 65 thousand a month method. Not sure if you have anything to offer it with regards to that?

I'm not sure if that presents any more problems. I gather I will have to use a bank letter to prove its origins which appears to be the case all the way along.

My main concern is if they ask for proof of income in my home country because it's not a pension but rather dividends and Rental income which can be a bit sporadic.

have you looked at flying from utapao to Kuala lumpur or HCMC, better than almost 7/8 hours on a minibus

Yes I have considered flying out of the country but that is not without its pain in the a@#$ qualities and of course this way I will get to see a little bit of the countryside!
