I suspect one reason why the medical profession is skittish of Covid is the 15 million people around the world who died of it

Of this variant???  Obviously not.  To make a big deal of it, while it is steadily becoming milder and milder is ridiculous and beyond logic.

Any medical professional that is thinking, "Although this virus has been steadily getting milder and milder, for years, shows every sign of continuing to do so, with current symptoms being cold or flu-like, we still need to think of it as the same virus that reportedly killed 15m people, and treat it as such", should not be a medical professional.

By the very nature of medicine, if it starts getting worse again, it will become immediately obvious, and we cannot live as though that is likely.  We have to carry on as normal.

The only sensible response is to monitor in the same way any virus or disease is monitored, but continue living our lives as normal.  Anyone who wants constant testing, masks, social distancing, etc., is either insane or a grifter, likely both.

Why????????????????????????? Why do they need to tell us every time a new sub-variant comes around. The nature of this virus is that sub-variants are continuously replaced with other sub-variants, some of which will become dominant, with all of them resulting in non-severe symptoms for the vast majority.

Of course here is the reason why ..,

"Health authorities remind the public to continue observing safety protocols, including vaccination, to minimise risk."

Anything to make people scared.  They know that many years ago "new variant" meant that things were getting worse.  Even now, when "new variant" means things are actually getting better, they still want to capture that original fear.  "New variant has been discovered, therefore covid is not over, so listen to us, give us attention, give us money", something like that.

There is so much wrong about this whole story

the MSN article is a partial reprint of a Dagens article that is a partial reprint of an EUobserver article

Of course.  One of the defining elements of the Trump presidencies has been people lying about Trump and other people using those lies as factual proof of whatever they are lying about.

A new level of deception has been achieved by the left under Trump.

Another one of your absolute winning topics. Maybe it’s time for another posting holiday. Try reading a book, getting some exercise, or even just stepping outside for a walk. The weather’s decent in Australia, isn’t it? Anything would be better than more of this rubbish.

But if he takes a break from this account, he'll focus more of his energy on his much more trolly identity, MalcolmB.

Make any excuse you want but the fact is she was ask a direct question and gave a direct answer.  Deal with facts not your presumption    good bye

You have no facts, as the reporter didn't clarify as he should have done.  Why didn't she mention the Epstein files when mentioning the others?  She was only tasked with looking at the MLK and JFK files, but when it came to Epstein she was only looking at the client list?  Use your brain.

No she was asked a direct question and gave a dire t answer.

This simply isn't how speaking works. People say dumb stuff like this all the time. Saying one thing when they mean another.

People often have different thoughts in their head to what the person asking the question have. Which is why people constantly ask for verification.

That's why phrases like, can I just confirm... exist.

    That's it.

It's funny to joke about, but Epstein apparently had legitimate dealings with many rich and famous people. So this kind of association really doesn't mean much.

If he said "I've know Jeff for fifteen years, and all the criminal things that he does, no matter how bad or how secret, I do the exact same things with him" you would have more of a point.

I love the interview with Michael Franzese, where he says that he was in the same prison and very close to the same cell, and states that the bunks are two feet off the floor that there's absolutely nothing within the cell to use to hang oneself, the sheets are tissue thin, the video system is very high-end and it never gets turned off, and the possibility of him having committed suicide was less than zero.

I completely agree. I would put the possibility of suicide at 0%. There were a lot of very important, and influential people who wanted him dead. Including Trump.

It's surprising that Epstein didn't have some sort of "if I die under suspicious circumstances, send this letter to every major news outlet in the world" type of deal.

Nope but nice try. She was ask a very specific question about the client list and if she had it and she answered she had it for review.  Going on about other files she will also be looking at has nothing to do with what she answered. Nice try at twisting the information

I wasn't twisting anything, but nice try. I was simply explaining that the way she was speaking showed that she might have been thinking file, even though he said list. Nice try at twisting my words though.

Ghislaine Maxwell apparently had a black book , but it was suppressed at her trail.

I think more boomerangs are coming for Trump.

He said to release the JFK files : we got the redacted (and incomplete) files and said make up your own mind.

Did he release the 9/11 files ?

When do we get the real story about the at least 2 assasination attempts on him ?

    Now the Epstein "clients".

Will anyone finally get indicted and prosecuted ?

Lock her up .... we are 10 years futher , is she locked up ?

A lot of election slogans and promises , no results.

Nonsense like this just makes this into a silly Trump-hate circle jerk.

You actually make Trump look better and trivialise the Epstein thing.

and in another article posted today it says "18,000 shops will all close".......never experienced any other country with such contradictory information or rule changes, new rules...EVER.

Thai law could be almost classed a torture method.

This is why Thailand can only attract budget tourism.  Wealthy people and businesses won't accept such unclear, unwelcoming and basically unstable rules and laws.  Budget tourists see it as interesting and the "mai bpen rai" thing makes for a relaxing atmosphere.
