  1. That may not have been the question to ask as proof of funds could be shown in a manner of ways.

The question should have been are those applying for the ME Non Imm O being asked to provide 200,000 BHT as proof of funds.

You just making terrorism over whisper... There is a person that just post on this topic that is going over there soon, we will wait and see what's happen, I think my information are coming from a good and informed person.

  2. There are different criteria's for either Visas.

Many whether married or not, but intend to apply for an extension based on either marriage or retirement only require a single entry Non Imm O.

The Consulate will not issue multi entry Non O Visas to single unattached applicants, they must be married to a Thai or supporting a Thai child.

This is absolutely incorrect, the Sawannakhet consulate will release multiple entry O visa ONLY based on Marriage with a Thai citizen, for children they will ONLY release a single entry. The financial proof is IMHO an invention as I was in contact a couple of hours ago with the agent in front of the embassy that confirmed that no financial proof is needed for the multiple entry non O visa based on Marriage, stop making confusion please.

  3. Which guy?
A non-o for retirement requires 800k baht. A OA visa can only be applied for in your home country so that was certainly what they were applying for.

So JabsJabs is applying for what (along with some other people)? He says that yesterday morning nobody was asked of any fund or bank statement... As you saying this 200.000 are coming out from nowhere as the requirements are different...
  4. If you didn't feel scammed that doesn't mean you'd never been scammed, this is up to you, I tend to take care of my money and give them to people that deserve it, not to tuktuk drivers that asking you 200 THB for any ride you ask for or filthy restaurants with no more than mediocre food as are around Sawannakhet. Said so have a nice day as this discussion or right now completely off topic.

This is an acceptable signature (hopefully)

  5. I am sure certain countries citizens are given 30 days bu I think but am unsure that aussies only get 14/15 days , if it's only 15 then a tourist visa will be applied for regards

    Visa Exemption and Bilateral Agreement

    (Last updated: May 26, 2017)

Passport Holders who can enter Thailand without a Visa

The VISA EXEMPTION RULE allows tourists from 55 countries1 to enter Thailand without a visa. They are granted to stay a maximum of 30 days if they are entering Thailand via an international airport or entering through a land border checkpoint from neighboring countries.

Under the new provisions of the VISA EXEMPTION RULE and BILATERAL AGREEMENT effective December 31, 2016, passport holders of 55 countries are entitled to enter Thailand under this rule provided that they meet the following criteria:

The visit is strictly for tourism purposes.
They must have a confirmed return ticket to show that they are flying out of Thailand within 30 days of entry, as appropriate. Open tickets do not qualify. Traveling over land out of Thailand by train, bus, etc to Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia (including en route to Singapore), Myanmar, etc may be accepted as proof of exiting Thailand.

You may be asked to show your flight ticket on entering Thailand. If you do not possess a flight ticket to show you will be exiting Thailand within 30 days of entry you will be most likely to be refused entry.

It will also be necessary to prove that you have funds of at least 10,000 THB per person during your stay in Thailand.
A fee may be levied on persons entering Thailand under the VISA EXEMPTION RULE especially when entering through a land border in Southern Thailand.

    Thai Visa Stamps

Holders of normal passports of the following countries are granted visa-free travel to Thailand for a period of up to 30 days. The exemption is granted at most twice in a calendar year when entering over land or via a sea border but there is no limitation when entering by air. For Malaysians entering by land border, there is no limitation in issuing the 30-day visa exemption stamp. Korea, Brazil, Peru, Argentina and Chile will get 90 days in both airport and land border.

  6. Not everyone gets those documents! I was married in a Thai Embassy outside of Thailand and you certainly do not get those certificates. Nor can you get replacements or any sort of copies from the Amphur.
The Amphur can only give you a copy of their original certificates, and if you were married outside of Thailand then they will not be able to issue it as you are classed as already married. It is a strange situation.

I understand, but don't forget that in Sawannakhet they should release a visa also for a 'de facto' marriage. I'm not sure, maybe ubonjoe know better than me, but I have this thing that last year was a guy with a Thai woman and a kid that did apply for a marriage visa over a 'de facto' marriage...

  7. HI Guys, thanks for the info. I have all the required docs and suspected that it may take a bit longer than VTE. Brit Tim, is it pretty straight forward getting bus from Mukdahan to Savannakhet. Does it need booking or can I just find it easily once I arrive? Also, do the buses o from Mo Chit and any idea what kind of times and if they need booking, haven't taken a coach in Thailand for donkeys years!

From Morchit there are 999, sahaphan, transport company Ltd. That going to Mukdahan with VIP buses (I know this companies) I took the Mukdahan-Morchit from Mukdahan booking it 3 hours before the departure was a nice 24 seats VIP with massaging seats, tv and meal for 660THB. BUS to Sawannakhet is shit but is the only way to cross the border, 50THB bus station to bus station.

  8. I live 1700 k away from from the place we were married. Can the police report cover it. They also say they will not give me a copy of the flowery cert.

you don't need a copy, you need the original one, they have a book with the marriage registration, you need to pay for having a new couple of certificates.

if you ask them for a copy they cannot give you one because they don't have any original certificate

    sent from the moon.

  9. Thank you All so much.

I shall go to the Thai Consulate in Savannakhet and apply for the Non O multi entry next Thursday  and shall receive on Friday so as not to overstay as mine currently expires on Saturday.
    Taking 5K and:
    1. passport, entry card - original and copies.
    2. photos,
    3.Wifes ID signed copy,
    4.wedding cert original and copies
    5.house book and copy.

As i will drive from BKK on Wednesday, are the Thai Consulate opening times the same as Vientaine...08:00 until 1pm then pick up at 1pm next day?
Does my wife need to be present also?
Finally, i imagine it will be very crowded at the border so getting a Laos entry visa in BKK is better & cheaper than at the border?

    Many, many thanks again.

  10. It wasn't "bank statements" they wanted (unless something changed very recently).

    Dear Jack,

I was right behind one of this fellas the morning of the 8th of May, and I did clearly ear the guy at the counter saying that to obtain a tourist visa at the Sawannakhet consulate they request a bank statement, said so the officer returned the paperworks to the young fella and he left the counter to sit in the first row of black plastic seats on the left of the line. We walked back to town together and he did confirmed that they requested for a bank statement.

    Regards.

  11. hello there,

I don't understand why you have to wait 6 month or your 50th birthday.

you can apply for a tourist visa and enter Thailand or enter with a visa exception for 30 days and then extend it for another 30.

it's probably better for you to enter with the visa and extend it so you can prepare the paperworks for your retirement visa while you're in Thailand.

which one is the best nearby embassy or consulate for get a retirement visa I don't really know and I let who knows the right answer give it.

    regards.
