March 387 units = 113 baht
April 617 units = 2617 baht
I obviously received the govt discount in March, but i can’t see anywhere on my bill that displays the unit charge, or shows a government discount.

Do at least take a bike from this millenium based on the same technology
Honda CBR250RR - 40.8hp - 168kg - 179kph
No, I’m comparing a 30 year old 250 to a current production model 750, and the little 250 is streets ahead. -

Seriously ?
A 250 cc motorbike can out accelerate and out manoeuvre a big bike ?
Whatever you been smoking i need a few kilo's.
I'll just leave this here....
HD 750 street - 53hp - 220kg - 177kph.
Honda CB500 Twin - 57hp - 173kg - 193kph.
Suzuki RGV250 - 62hp - 128kg - 209kph.
-
Agree that training is needed for all bike riders regardless of engine cc.
I have a 250cc bike that can do 200kph & a 125cc scooter that can do 145kph, both of which can out accelerate and out manoeuvre a big bike.

It pains me to see the amount of people totally unprepared. That's the reason its mayhem down there. Why on Earth do people subject themselves to the photocopy lady. She is slow and the lines are long.
Get your copies sorted before you arrive. All the information and forms are available online to download.
Get a place in the line with QueQ app and it's simple. They can't make it any easier for you.
But I think you're right, people were banking on more amnesty and failed.
Unfortunately sometimes it isn't that easy.
Yes, I downloaded the forms online and read all information pertaining to what was required and made 2 copies of everything.
Upon arrival at the IO, was told both forms were incorrect and was handed new updated forms to fill out. I studied the new forms and couldn't find any difference from the ones I'd downloaded and already completed.
Then I was told they needed 4 copies of one particular doc. I looked at the list of docs required pinned to her desk window and it was the same as the online list, 2 copies. I decided not to argue and just go to the copier.
Upon returning I was then asked to provide a doc that was not on their requirement list. Luckily I had a copy on my phone and went next door to pay an additional 100 baht for 2 copies.
So it really doesn't matter how prepared you are, if you aren't paying a bribe through an agent then they will just send you round in circles to remind you that using an agent is what they desire!

Yes, ignore the tens/hundreds of thousands of people already here COVID free and spending money on hotels, apartments, restaurants and all other types of local businesses. They must return home next week unless they can obtain embassy letters and a 30 day extension. No long term options for them to enable their continued spending.
No, seemingly it's more important to have just 1200 potential new tourists arriving from COVID infected countries and whom cannot leave their hotel for the 1st 14 days thus ruling out local business spending.

You also have tuition to pay, so it ends up being about 30,000 for 6 months.
Yes incl tuition around 30,000 for 1 year. Still 20,000 cheaper than volunteer.

TM7 30 day extensions must be accompanied with an embassy letter.
If on a tourist visa and now exempt, then Ed visa is cheapest option.
Ed visa - around 15,000. Then 1900/90 days.
Volunteer visa - around 50,000.

Fact is that too many people here cannot drive.
I understand that Thai's are able to obtain a license without much training, but what is a farangs excuse?
-
British guy unaware of his surroundings because focused on his phone.
Thai guy made a genuine mistake bumping into him, but this has happened all around the world, millions of times every day for hundreds of years resulting in a simple apology.
It’s only recently with the advent of mobile phones, that people are oblivious to their surroundings & thus react disproportionally to what has actually happened, because their mobile is more precious to them than money!

Figures from Jan-Jun 2019 stated Chinese tourism dropped 2.5% & Indian tourism went up 9%. The average spend per trip to be:-
indians 39,000 baht
Chinese 47,000 baht
So judging these latest spend per day figs, Indians are staying up to 4 days & Chinese over 9 days in Thailand.
I thought the Chinese were the short trip holidaymakers??

Mine is a 2012 model, and required the inspection which cost 60b and took about 5-10 minutes. Motorcycles older than 5 years require the inspection.
The office also processes car license tax. There were agents at the office with piles of blue books. I guess car owners can pay a little extra to an agent to get their renewal or don't know how easy, convenient and fast it is to do it themselves.
What’s the name of the shop that does this? I’ve been riding up to the transport office 3 times a year to tax/insure my bikes. Never knew they had an office in central.
Do they come down into the car park to inspect your bike or have to park it outside?

Remove all the illegally parked cars/vans and then they wouldn't need to ride on the pavements.

Thats only if you think uk is the only country in the world . The fact is you can get an idp from any country in the world as long as you have a valid licence for the country in which you apply . It will then be valid all over the world ( if they accept it ) except the country you got it from
Yes you are correct, but the OP has stated that he has a U.K. license but it’s been submitted together with an application to another country for a license.
The other country has stated that it will take 1 month to be issued, so he won’t get his U.K. license back until then, meaning he has no valid license in his possession.
Ideally he should have went to a U.K. post office with his license & got an IDP. It only takes 5 mins & costs under £10.

You cannot obtain an International drivers permit or Thai license without your UK license so yes, you'll be riding illegally.
Best outcome: You are fined and can ride off.
Worst outcome: You are fined, scooter impounded until your friend comes to collect it. Friend is fined for renting a scooter to someone without a license.

Mate that's absolutely desperate stuff. What is it supposed to prove?
Look here's four countries and a continent and if we add them together they spend more than one country. Woohoo!!
Plus you have UK and Europe in there together and even when Brexit happens, UK will still be European.
Pus, the Indian population recently exceeded the Chinese population.
I have a little question you might consider. Would Thailand prefer the combined 7.4bn in your dodgy numbers or would they like the Chinese tooff and take the 4.3bn on it's own?
I answered a previous comment stating Chinese outspend & outnumber farang, which is factually incorrect.
If they’d stated Chinese outnumber British or American then yes, that would be correct.
If one was to leave Thailand that you are suggesting, then they’d prefer the 4.3b from farang to the 3.1b from Chinese I’d imagine.
Thailand needs more tourists so why would they choose to alienate people from one of their largest markets?

A pretty pointless set of figures
No source
No trend
No analysis
No comment
What is indicated in the other posts is that the amounts spent by Chinese is set to bourgeon and in some places is already exceeding all-comers.
New visa-less entry being considered should further increase their share of the market.
Unless faring hoteliers and the like prepare for Chinese and Indian customers they will use out big time.
PS - as Chinese outnumber all orther nationalities it doesn't really matter if their "average" spend is half that of Brits as they outnumber them some many to one. The total coming into Thai coffers dwarfs that of the west.
The above figures are average spend per tourist per trip.
Yes, Chinese outnumber all other nationalities due to having the worlds largest population, but if you group farang countries together, they then outnumber and also outspend the Chinese by a whopping 1.2 billion baht over a 6 month period.
Following figs incl U.K., USA, Russia, Australia & Europe but excludes Scandinavia, Canada & NZ:-
Total income from Farang tourists = 4.3 billion
Total income from Chinese tourists = 3.1 billion
There’s also been a drop of 7% Chinese tourists compared to the same period last year.

If you want the best ride on a scooter styled bike then look no further than a 250 or 300 Vespa. Plenty of power very quick off the mark and gorgeous to ride. There are Vespa mechanics in BKK but a bikle ]like this will cost you more to service. As dfor parts they don;t wear out as quick as the Asian bikes from my experience.
I had the GTS300 back home, great scooter but here I’ve got the 150.
Also have 2 125’s, Honda click & Vespa LX.
Both are true scooters with step thru frames, meaning you can hop on and off so easily. If you are new to bikes then this should suit you.
I rarely use the click cause after being on either Vespa, the click feels so cheap & handles poorly.
You get what you pay for. The click is a good cheap scooter for the money, although I’d much rather buy a used Vespa for the same money as a new Honda.
How will life in Thailand change when the COVID state of emergency ends this month?
