  1. As mentioned many times on here, The Blues Factory has the best live music in Pattaya without a doubt, but its more rock than Jazz

Yes, I have to agree, but then, it's been a long time since I was in the Blues Factory.

Blues Factory is not what it used to be. Decayed a bit, way much less people, a refresh is needed, hope Dave is on it as it is a shame that a place with such good music (for Pattaya) is being left behind

  2. Last time I tried jumping in the water in Pratumnak it was literally smelling like s**t and there was a pipe with some greenish stuff coming through it right into the water. We left for Koh Larn in less than 10 minutes, so I would advise against letting the small one going anywhere near the sea in Pattaya, unless you're reaching the side of Jomtien, as in Bang Saray far...

  3. Indeed, I apologize, it wasn't you. Anyway, facts are facts, I lived there and I know them and know what they're capable of. I befriended with a few of them, and the ones I'm talking about were quite well off, regardless, after inviting them to my 18th birthday party, they took off with the cds we played that night...this is just a simple example and I could come up with hundreds, but unfortunately, crime is in their blood, they would never feel themselves without tricking or stealing from somebody. The moment you give them a chance, you're jolly well f****d and sh*t out of luck

  4. Growing up my family employed a number of Roma people over the years for odd jobs. The price was fair, they did the work, and they didn't steal. Those stories never make the news.

I have been robbed twice in my life. Once by a Portuguese and once by a Brazilian. Should I label all Portuguese speakers as criminals now?

I don't know. Should you? You just said that Romanians are the European Nigerians :whistling:

  5. Not really looking for an argument. Maybe I'll let what I said stand and let it be some balance here.

But if what I'm saying is so wrong, why don't you try to edit the Wiki page?

A good film on these issues of segregation and educational racial tracking in Romania:

    http://ourschoolfilm.blogspot.com/

We kinda like to stick to stuff we know, seen with our own eyes and most of us know from experience, movies are a bit late for me at the moment

  6. I'm hearing some racial talk here against the Roma people of Romania and it's not nice considering the horrible way the majority Romanians have treated this minority over the years. For the most part, they are born into an underclass and most never even have the opportunity to receive the anything resembling the same level of education as the so called "white" Romanians. They are tracked for lives of poverty from day one.

Also that video was a lot of puff. Father of cybernetics indeed. If you sent a CV with that level of distortion, you'd be in trouble.

Racism in Romania is mostly directed against the Roma people, the country's second-largest minority, who are routinely discriminated against by the state, local authorities and private enterprises, in matters of housing, employment and education. Belonging to the lowest social classes, the Roma are caught in a vicious circle of poverty reinforced by segregation.[1] Prejudice against Roma people is common among the Romanians, who characterize the Roma as being thieves, dirty and lazy.

Go live in Romania (you don't even have to be close to a Gypsy neighborhood) and when your kids come back home beaten (by the same guy you tried to help out by offering him a decent amount of money to do your garden or whatever choirs and he ended up disappearing with the tools) and without their wallets, phones or whatever. I could go on and on and on and on, but please don't give us lessons about it, just as we don't give you lessons about your issues...we're just not there to see the facts, therefore we shut the <deleted> up

  7. Yeah, forgot, only Western Europeans are entitled to blame African and Middle Eastern immigrants for all the crimes and misfortunes, when it comes to Romanian gypsies, all Romanians are the same, right? They represent less than 3% of the population and they spread all over Europe giving a bad name for Romania and because of Western European governments, not only that we have to put up with them, but we also have to spoil them, cause they're a minority by EU laws :annoyed: So give me a break and read a darn book and learn the differences, or google it if you must. I got people wondering how come I'm Romanian and white?!?!...what a proof of great education

  8. These Romanina crooks are highly organized and operating in a number of countries. Excellent Panorama documentary recently on their illegal operations, including using children to beg, in the UK. Hundreds of thousands of pounds being sent back to the'gypsy bosses' in a Romanian village.

Criminality has no country and no borders.

Do not confuse romanians with rroma (gipsys).

Judging a nation by few individuals, is a mistake my friend.

Check please this link to know how romanians really are -

No need to prove with a video, as you say, judging a nation by few individuals, is a big mistake

  9. Lets see the bank reports suspicious activity, the police get on the case and bust the guy in quick time and most of the posters to the thread just complain and try to fine some other connection. It is amazing what Thailand brings out in people

Most probably the credit cards come from foreign countries, it will be quite difficult to give an exact amount, but I am pretty sure he will spend at least a few years in jail, not too many though, since the victims were not Thai citizens

  10. Romaian tourist? Should it not read `Romanian criminal`?

It should. It's a dam_n shame. There's plenty of Romanians living in LoS for quite a lot of time, all working as normal, honest people. It's a shame how some fellow countrymen can spit in all of our work and struggle here

They are still Tourist until proven otherwise by the court. Don't they get the benefit of doubt? Like the SMS Ah Gong?

I would love to think that way, unfortunately I know the type...hope they don't get deported back in Romania and get what they deserve here in Thailand so they can share their impressions regarding Thai jails, maybe the next idiot is gonna think twice before coming over

  11. Absolute classic if the Thai cops talking all seriously at the press conference and the bloke suddenly goes " PEEKABOO!"

Plus I see a local songtaew driver's just wandered in at the back to see what all the fuss is about.

I have just laughed so hard, I think that I have soiled myself. :o

You know what's classic? The line, Plus I see a local songtaew driver's just wandered in at the back to see what all the fuss is about

    Brilliant.

Yeah, the guy still doesn't realize that the tuk tuk driver was actually the undercovered cop...

  12. It is so true that Thailand is very expensive!

So expensive that many Thais live on less than 5,000 baht a month and pretty much no one is hungry.

    Ditto for me.

I find it interesting to see so many people bitching about the poor exchange rate and then blaming Thailand for decreasing quality of life experiences, instead of blaming their home governments for mismanaging the currencies into oblivion.

Several members of my family recently came to Thailand for the first time for my wedding. They had a great time, seeing everything from country life, the old city area of Sukothai, nice hotels in several locations, good food and entertainment, etc. There wasn't a single complaint about cost, rip-offs, quality of accommodation/food/drink, hotel services, ground transport, air transport and so on. One member of my family declined to come, citing risks of problems with the flooding. So be it. All they did was miss a great time.

I'm tired of reading all the whinging.

Thailand needs to promote tourism to counter the effects of the flood and political unrest, but that's about it. Thailand doesn't need to apologize or compensate for poor exchange rates. Sure food costs are up, diesel costs are up, and other costs are up. But these mostly impact the local economies, which affects me and my family, but the average tourist is more or less immune to it. From my perspective, there are still bargains galore throughout Thailand, for tourists and non-tourists alike.

If a tourist wants a "Sandals" type vacation experience, then go to a "Sandals" type destination. If a tourist wants some adventure and an unique life experience, then Thailand has been and remains a great place to go. Thailand has all of this and more, for practically every type of tourist budget there is. How many tourist destinations can claim the same thing?

And how would you explain the decrease of tourists in Thailand? If a tourist wants some adventure and an unique life experience??? Are you for real? Is that what you call being ripped off, mugged, hijacked, killed or kidnapped? An adventure? Maybe an unique life experience...I can't disagree, but for sure not a pleasant surprise. If you got lucky (as I did) and meet the right Thai people and got kept away from all the sh*t that's floating around (or maybe you are just another make believe kind of guy), good for you, but there's a lot of sh*t around that your Thai side of the family would never want to debate with you about, or anyone for the matter. I'd like to be more positive about Thailand than maybe you might want, I live here, it's my home and I'm just worried for my future considering the latest developments, ESPECIALLY because at least 50% of my work depends on tourists...if you'd be willing to get your head out of your lunch box, you'd realize it too :annoyed:
