The Thai Baht is still going as strong as ever though. The good ole baht! Impervious to any disaster even a 99.9% drop in Tourism. What a JOKE,

Meanwhile local tourism in my country is booming because all of us cheap Charlie low class tourists decided to spend our money back home instead.
-
But hasn't Thailand reported only like 100 cases or so? lmao what a JOKE country.

I sincerely hope you are joking! Iconic slice of Pattaya? Since when does the sleazy bar and bargirl scene become iconic. Must only be iconic to the ones that degrade themself to frequently indulge inthe forever boozing and eating a piece of flesh a couple of times a week. So, as asummary. We should be very sad if the sex expat and the sex tourist are leaving Thailand. As I said, you must be joking.
Thailand in general and Pattaya in particular has nothing worthwhile to offer anymore except whores.

It makes no sense, Thailand was doing a roaring trade attracting the budget end of the market, now they don't want these people then who is going to go there?
Vietnam now caters better to the budget and backpacker market and word seems to be out on that. Travellers with a bit more to spend will want somewhere cleaner with better customer service. Seems like the Thai authorities haven't really considered the consequences of their actions. Thailand is now too expensive for the backpackers, gap year students and budget travellers, but far too third-worldy, dirty, and incompetent for people with real money. They've carved a special niche for themselves - where they have no target customers. Even the hardcore of sex-pats have realised that prettier, slimmer and nicer girls can be found in neighbouring countries for a fraction of the cost.
So what is Thailand really offering right now? Grief at the airport? Filthy, garbage-strewn beaches? Overweight bar girls? Salty, greasy fried foods? All at prices higher than at home? Well blow me down with a feather if people want to go somewhere else!
Thailand used to have a perfect offering. Affordable and safe tropical paradise with a slice of naughty nightlife and welcoming locals. Thailand really was a fantastic place to visit. They practically had the market cornered on the affordable paradise front. How did they <deleted> that up?

I was told I was not welcome anymore. That Thailand was not for me. That Thailand now catered to a higher class of tourist. That the young rich professional demographics had taken over.
Me being just a middle class bloke from the west is nothing but a bum and that my money was no good.
I listened and now spend my 1 million bath a year travel allowance somewhere else.

Was there a couple of years ago for the last time. Went down WS to hit MIX and on the darker path between MC Donald's and MIx i started getting accosted by a ladyboy. I first told her off very politely (in Thai) but this just seemed to encourage the lady boy to follow me and start grabbing me. I got <deleted> and told the lady boy to stop following me and go away and then out of nowhere some white girl comes up to me and starts chastising me for talking to a ladyboy like that. I of course, told her to <deleted> off and went on my way but my night had already been ruined. I can deal with the ladyboys but i surely can't deal with white girls in Pattaya.

Well then .. that is great ... we are on the same page ... an adult who decides to cross a 4 lane at night and get hit is the PROBLEM ... not the "innocent victim" Happy we agree. Have a good night, and look both ways before crossing in well lit designated crossing areas!
Well lit designated crossing areas? What a laugh. Have you even been to Thailand? I feel like i'm a contestant in Death Race 3000 every time i have to cross the road here.
The Khao Lak road is a death trap. A highway that goes straight trough a tourist area. LOL.
Not a pedestrian crossing, tunnel or bridge as far as the eye can see.

Supposing somebody decided that they really wanted to go and check out the mystical eastern Country of Thailand, and they 'really' want to go there ... they wouldn't be overly concerned about the exchange rate (Unless it was something ridiculous) ... if somebody came here say 1 year ago and had $10,000 USD to spend, at say; 31.8 baht to the USD, they would have had 318,000 baht to spend, if they came here today, today's exchange rate is 30.42 baht giving them 304,000 baht to spend ... so come on, you reckon people would change their mind over the difference in exchange rate of less than $500 USD ??? Of course not .... it the stories they hear about Violent Taxi drivers, taxi drivers who rip you off, con men on the streets, bombs near shopping centers, violence, rapes and murders and various Islands and alike ... Jet Ski scams and so on .... is the Thai Government that naive ... that tourist do not go back home and talk about these incidents whether they were directly involved with such an incident or not ... word travels fast !
For the average swede it's 50% more expensive to go to Thailand now due to the record low exchange rate if you look at the average exchange rate over a 10 year period. That's not chump change exactly. Thailand is not the amazing deal it used to be and factoring in all the reasons you outlined in your posts it's clear why tourism is falling.

The Swedish Krona is at a record low against the Baht. It's just not a cheap destination anymore compared to what you can get at other places. More and more Scandinavians go to Mexico or Europe instead where they can find better value.
It's a shame really. Thailand used to be on everyone's number 1 spot.

'murderous savages..'
Well the 20th century would surely indicate where the murderous savages come from-in abundance.
Ah yes, the Phil Sheridan textbook used in Anthropology 101.
Ahh the old white people bad so that absolves everyone else from culpability school of thought.
At least we don't murder everyone by default unlike these aggressive savages. "teach us peace" ????

Let the natives live in peace.
I read of these self contained, indigenous tribes around the world, many in Brazil which are supposedly about to get wiped out as a result of the new right wing President-elect Jair Bolsonarno.
I'm sure many of these tribes could teach us a thing or two about living in peace and harmony.
Perhaps some of the tribe have visited "the outside world" and returned to tell of the horrors of modernized society.
As for the "American missionary", he knew that his trip was likely to not end well.
Teach us how to live in peace? How dumb are you? They've literally murdered several people in cold blood who posed no threat to them. What could they teach us? How to be murderous savages? Lol

I’m not really sure where you are looking expat staff. I have been looking for a good expat position in Thailand now for years. When I say good I mean longevity and pay. It seems everything I apply for is either term based or low pay.
Maybe if the positions you are referring to were long term and pay which is decent it would be easier to find quality employees.
Me, US education (master degree) 25+ years project management, project engineering and business capture.
Exactly this. They don't want to pay or offer good job security and conditions then they get surprised they don't get quality applicants.

That's the very attitude Dan is talking about ?
The attitude of knowing your worth and not wanting to get taken advantage of by greedy business owners? "Can't keep up with me," means don't want to answer my emails at 2 in the morning.
Why would a quality farang accept such working conditions?
-
Business owners always think their employees are lazy. Somehow they always seem surprised that their employees won't want to work themselves to death for them or don't care about the company the same way the owner does.
I do the work i'm paid to do, you want extras you offer something extra in return.

The "new swedes" (and their entourage) in Sweden frequently fill up our ER's for everything from common colds to sore elbows then they get aggressive when the doctors prioritize actually injured people and start fighting. This is why all ER's have security guards these days.
You're NOT supposed to go there for trivial shit. The ladyboy doctor was right though she could use some people skills.

How can you travel 0.3 times, how does that work, do you start to travel then change your mind and go home again, one-third of the the way through the trip? Regardless, I've been a member for 15 years and I haven't been targeted once that I can recall.
Travel is the subject: about four or five times a year sounds right to me, we like a change of scenery about once a quarter.
Do you honestly not understand how statistics work? You must get quite puzzled when you read something like that the average couple have 2.36 children.

The only thai who has been openly very rude to me are younger bkk thais. Like 15-18 year old.
One of them was shockingly rude to me on the Skytrain to the point i considered dragging him out at the next stop and beating him up but he was just a kid and he had his girlfriend with him. I still don't know why he starting saying racial slurs and insults to me in English out of the blue.
For the record most random Thais describe me as "Hi-so" so i'm not exactly walking around with a Singha singlet on me and i'm young-ish.
Still i try to be patient with young men since they usually don't have a clue about anything (neither did i at that age).
Being well presented certainly seem to help but it also seems to make some rural Thais very uncomfortable around me, even those in the entertainment business.

This paragraph below from the OP speaks the truth - and it is not only Sweden suffering. Most EU countries are being slowly corrupted by the influx of the corrupted - except Poland who refuses to accept EU or UN refugees.
"This is the new Sweden; the new, exciting dynamic, multicultural paradise that so many here in this assembly ... have fought to create for so many years," he said sarcastically.
Lets see if the People of Sweden will reject liberal lunacy this year, or be like France and be lost forever.
We're lost forever unless the Swedish Democrats somehow get enough votes to rule alone which is very unlikely. Instead the majority party will form a coalition with the fringe nutcase parties such as the green party and left party who in return will receive extraordinary power over our national politics even though they only have a few percent voter support.
The moderates will make a show of how they are tough on crime and how the immigration problems are going to get addressed under their administration but they are all loyal to the Kalergi plan and will follow any directives set in the Bilderberg meetings.
Globalism is the new religion in Sweden (and Islam).

I am at a loss how the army can solve this, unless he envisages a permanent Northern Ireland troubles presence in every city troubled by gang violence, and do they even have the resources to do so? That would take a lot of soldiers to do.
If he's talking about a "lightning strike" operation, using the military, is he prepared for a lot of ''collateral damage"?
By definition soldiers are trained to kill people, not police actions.
Seems to me like a politician speaking about things he thinks will sound good in the media, but are in reality a nonsense, like Blair sending a tank to Heathrow when there was a terrorist attack there.
I assume he is talking about small special forces units or military police, not mechanized infantry divisions or anything of the sort.

ive been going to pattayas since 2004 and i have never seen any girl even remotely underage working in a bar or gogo,
not that im 'looking' for young uns, but surely the pervs who do this will be targeting in the sticks villages with nearby schools that due to poverty may be vulnerable to exploitation
Same here. I know of only one instance in Cha Am where the girl was under 18 and she was there willingly and worked in a cop owned bar.
Everyone already believes that it's only pedos in Thailand.
I've had friends relay stories on how on their first Phuket trip they saw an old farang walking hand in hand with a child on the street suggesting he was a pedo and that it happened that openly. I told him it was most likely his own half Thai son.

Does any liquid asset count? Not going to sell stocks just to have 500k THB lying around my bank account not generating any interest or returns.
Even so this is a terrible idea. Young people and backpackers spend money too. Some of them spend a lot.
