My condo building gym has an old (2006?) Concept2 badly in need of a service (no resistance on flywheel, worn out shock cord, etc.).

Concept2 in USA confirmed they have no distributor in Thailand. Does anyone know anywhere in Pattaya or Bangkok that can properly service a Concept2 rower?

    Thanks in advance.

You can buy parts directly from C2.

First, you have to know what's your rower model? C or D.

Next, go to Concept2 website and list parts that you want to replace. C2 have all of the informations and manual on their website, you can download and print, it's pdf format.

Next, contact C2 for buying parts by e-mail.

The most expensive part of rower is Performance mornitor, others is not expensive.

I suggest to replace all of the moving parts such as chain, shock cord and seat roller.

I know what you mean. I had to think long and hard about the power rack but decided against it as my gym would be too cramped. I decided on another way to make squats safer that doesn't use much space. I'll save the money for the Concept2 BikeErg when it comes out. They don't hog a lot of space.

    Try shermwork's freespotter.

It's work like monolift but a lot cheaper and can use as Jone machine.

I bought one in my gym and use with my power rack.

This is the most essential thing in my weightlifting room.

I completed my first million in November. I started recording my times/distances on 21 February using the  ErgData app, a week or so after buying the machine.  Working on the Holiday Challenge at the moment, which despite taking a week off to get married, should be easy enough. The leader on this challenge  is a 64 year old gentleman who has done 1,489,682 meters since 23 November 2017. An amazing figure, but doesn't he have anything else to do? That works out at nearly 74.5kms per day.

I'm join Holliday challenge too. Hope to get the pin of this year.

Holliday challenge is the only challenge that I join in this season.

Well done! How long did that take you?

I'm nearly there myself. I will make it later this month. This is just on my new PM5. I did about 2M on my old PM4 too but didn't upload it as I was going and lost quite a bit when my log cards played up. They were are real pain in the *ss.

I'm now dividing my time between the SkyErg and the Rower, so no major meters every month. Next year I intend to get the BikeErg too, but I heard from headquarters that it won't be available in this area until the 3rd quarter (Spring) of next year.

I took almost 4 years to reach 2 million meters. Screenshot_2017-12-12-19-56-33.thumb.png.c232b8672843437b1c46b5e0b6a74a94.png

My Polar HRM works great. It syncs with the PM5 monitor with barely any delay. Very happy with it. The only issue is that I do not think the strap will have a long life. There are already a couple of elastic threads showing.

Anybody doing the Concept Halloween Challenge? 31 kms between 25 and 31 October so not an overly challenging challenge.

You can buy only strap if your old strap is worn out. It cost about 800B.

This year I didn't join any C2 challenging. I do interval workout between weight training and 500m row. My daily meter is just about 3500m.

I have never hit the garmin strap as when I pull the handle I bring it in slightly below my pecs. I don't think Concept would recommend it if that were an issue.  Any way, I will let you know how it goes.

I wear chest strap at my rip cage and I've never hit HRM when I row but I fell uncomfortable with chest strap when my heart rate is over 160bpm then I will not use HRM when I row longer than 5000 meters.

I had a Polar which rotted (the hard plastic broke) after using it for a year even when fastidiously washing them after every workout.

I used to broke my polar HRM because unproper maintainance, HR mornitor just want only wipe by dry cloth or paper, not have to wash it, wash only chest strap with plain water.

Here's another method which you may "enjoy". You set the interval rest periods to variable, meaning you choose when you want to start your next interval. When you're ready you just hit the start button and go for it.

I just shift to interval training as your advice. I use variable interval and row 500m with set rest time to "undefied rest time" , with this setting I can do strength training and rowing interval.

I've been through the website with a fine tooth comb as far as heart rate monitors in concerned. I just think I was unlucky with my belt (probably counterfeit). Or perhaps I am a highly charged individual. I'm a killer in the shopping malls with static electric shocks, regardless the footwear.

BTW the o-seals were slightly too big so another waste of money, although I ordered 23mmID x1mm which all postings I could find claimed is the right size.

I got the conclusion, polar OH1 can use with PM5.This guy use OH1 with their skierg that mean model D with PM5 must work for OH1.

How accurate are the wrist HRMs and would you recommend using one over a chest strap. I will only be using it with the rower. Maybe go for bluetooth smart?

Optical HRM is accurate but maybe slower than chest strap.

Polar OH1 is the latest optical sensor and it use bluetooth connection but I don't know it compatible with PM5 or not.

I have noticed that it can take quite some time to find the belt, but sometimes very quick.  I too find it annoying.  In any case, I have ordered the o-rings online. Hopefully, the belt will last until they arrive.

Maybe problem come from chest strap, I used to found this problem when I used chinese made HR mornitor, I change strap by using authentic polar strap, it's work better.

We after using my new Garmin heart rate monitor for about four times, it is no longer working. Bought off ebay for about 650 Baht from China. So now I need a replacement. Any suggestions, especially whether I can get one in Thailand.  The Polar H7 Heart Rate Sensor looks interesting but no idea whether available in Thailand.

    Taveewat, what do you use?

You can get Polar H7 here.

Of course, I'm talking about the full price for a new model. Some people see a shoe and want it there and then, and don't want to wait around for the possibility of a sale on that particular shoe sometime in the future... not to mention finding the exact size you need in a sale. Some models are over 5000 baht here. If I was an avid runner, I'd pay full price for a shoe that impressed me.

Yes,  popular running shoe like asic nimbus or adidas ultra boost are cost around 6,500 baht. ?

What you really have to ask yourself is - why am I running? You know it's high impact, therefore you know the risk is higher than it is for low impact exercises.

When I'd suffered from plantar fasiitis and had to quit running more than 2 years, I search for others form of cardio workout that I can did by not hurt my heel.

I found rowing is perfect for replace my running workout, it burn almost the same amount of calories (500kcal for running, 460kcal for rowing at 30minutes in both workout).

Even though I like rowing but I can't quit running.I feel it have somthing differences.

I feel the feeling after workout of running is better than rowing, this is my personal observation.

I can sleep better after running, this is another point that I can compare between them.
