Where has all the the 'light' beer gone?
MajorTom replied to The Hammer2021's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Other way around actually. MyBeer is 4.5%. The now obsolete Singha light was 3,5. -
Tax. Its cheaper. Look at how much cheaper Mybeer or Archa can sell at 4,5% Did they also lower the price on Chang? or only the content?

Non O - 11 week trip
MajorTom replied to nicholasgee99's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Yes. Sounds crazy but it apparently works. Only way to get past these incorrect webforms. There's youtube videos demonstrating exactly this process. Don't worry about refusal. If you miss some document they will contact by email and you can reply to that. -
I have done this procedure for a Non-O. It worked fine. I can't come up with any reason why this would be problematic? You are vetted by the Thai embassy in your Passport country. Where you happen to be during this process should not make any difference to anyone? Fly home during application? What for? Process is exactly the same wherever you are.

Multiple entries on single entry tourist visas
MajorTom replied to novster's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Interesting read. In the lack of legal paragraphs, Corrupt IOs has used false claims and incorrect paragraphs to deny certain people they don't like. And those rejected had no problems going to other points of entry using the same visa ???? As for the OPs concerns: Flying in from the UK (home country). With a visa issued by the Thai embassy in the UK, and a return ticket back to said country.. I would not worry too much about it. -
Multiple entries on single entry tourist visas
MajorTom replied to novster's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Ignore the warning. Continue with TR visas. Not that you have much of a choice anyway until you are 50. I would not do the ED-visa with your travel schedule. That might look even more suspicious. It would be a good option if you could just stay until 50 and didn't have to leave several times in between? As mentioned: Avoid female IOs as far as possible. I would also say avoid Immigration at Phuket International. They are the worst in my personal, and everyone I knows experience. DMK also seems to have a bad rep. Some IOs like to intimidate. But I would say its very unlikely they would refuse someone with a valid Tourist visa simply for "Stay Thailand too mutt". Has this ever been reported on this forum? -
Thailand pass new passport since vaccine
MajorTom replied to AAIrons's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
It will not be a problem. I returned last month on a new passport. Vaccine papers with old passport number. No issues with Thailand pass or at any checkpoint. -
Visa exempt 30 days uk national rejected
MajorTom replied to JFHuaHin's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Let me elaborate a bit further on that. I would not call them short turnarounds. In a normal year i would not spend more than 6 months in Thailand. I was working and traveling a lot. Usually away for a month at a time. With the exception of short holidays to nearby countries when I was on leave. And no sensible immigration officer would see that as visa runs. I didn't leave at the end of my 30 days to obtain another 30 to spend. I gained nothing from those trips in visa terms. Regardless, I had many exempt stamps and my passport did not look pretty at first glance.. Like you, I also got warnings. But I did not have any reasonable visa option so I ignored them, and they left me alone for some reason. Elite? Yeah, i guess i would have got one if I ran out of options. But i never did. I'm not one of those people that feel privileged to be able to stay in Thailand. I see it the other way. I'm here to spend money. If they don't like that, fair enough. Not my country or rules. If i was denied visa exempt, I would simply take my bag and go somewhere else. Apply for a visa and come back later. But I'm not panicking if i meet one IO with an opinion. Well, times change and I'm married now. I might pull up the ladder and join the "Get a proper visa" crowd ???? -
Certificate of residence
MajorTom replied to RafPinto's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Phuket charges 500. Its instant and you can even get it on visa-exempt. I did get one from my consulate once for a Driving License. I paid 2000B. The LTO refused to accept it, so i still had to get one from immigration ???? -

Certificate of residence
MajorTom replied to RafPinto's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I had to get two once for completely different purposes. When I asked if there was any difference between the two documents they said no. Both identical. So why ask what its for? -
Stay longer after work permit cancellation, help
MajorTom replied to salva's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
You can still get 20 years for 1 mil. Superiority Extension. (Visa only, no benefits, not transferable) Or go for the 5 year for 600K. Then upgrade it for 400K to add an additional 15 years. -
I was joking about getting a fax machine when the sharia government banned online sales of alcohol.. Fortunately you can still order by email. Apparently that's not "online" ????

I only brought my passport and the translated MFA approved "No impediment to Marriage". As far as i remember. What I suspect this agent is trying to do is register the marriage without you present? Because all these documents resembles to answer the questions they asked me in the interview. -How much money do you make. -When did you come to Thailand -Where have you been/lived. How long etc. -You had girlfriend before ???? I also needed two witnesses. That's probably what your friends ID are for. Its simpler if you do the registration on your own. Its not that hard. Use the agent for the document/MFA stuff if necessary.

I just remembered the old Thailand Pass also had a forward window of 72 hours in case of delay or cancellation. So there was never any need for a new TP application in that case. Providing all other documents were up to date. From FAQ: 3. Can I change my travel itinerary once I have registered and received my QR code? Will my QR Code remain valid? - Yes. However, flight changes are permitted within 72 hours after the original flight time registered in the Thailand Pass without the need to apply for a new Thailand Pass QR Code, provided that all other required documents remain valid

CCSA to Consider Proposal to Suspend Test & Go and Thailand Pass
MajorTom replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
I was told by the laboratory staff at Bangkok Hospital its 40. They refused to put this on paper though as long as your test is negative. If you test positive however, you will get the CT value on the test report at which cycle it was detected. I got a positive test a few weeks ago. Its 5 different genes tested for, so it will have one CT value for each. Mine was detected between 29-34. I had no symptoms so I did another PCR-test 3 days later. This was negative and I was able to travel. -
Yeah. If a flight its rescheduled its usually by hours or at most a day. Will be tricky to to get new T&G confirmation within that timeframe. Took me at least a day in both cases. Not impossible now though. Some hotels have instant confirmation. Insurance update would be another problem. If you paid for 30 days from arrival it would be challenging to move that by a day and get the paperwork in time..? If they did the test and go at the airport and scrapped the hotel and insurance it would make more sense to have the TP flexible.

Visa exempt 30 days uk national rejected
MajorTom replied to JFHuaHin's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Yeah i remember immigration ruffled their feathers in 2014. That's when I got the warning. I ignored it and kept doing the same until 2020 without issues. -
Visa exempt 30 days uk national rejected
MajorTom replied to JFHuaHin's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Fact. Worked rotations abroad. In general 1 month on/off. I also did trips to neighboring countries in between, so could be up to 10 stamps a year at most. Edit: I should add that my experience is not recent. I have not entered visa exempt since just before Covid. -
Visa exempt 30 days uk national rejected
MajorTom replied to JFHuaHin's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I wondered about this science myself many times. Hard to tell. I have done around 100 visa exempt entries over the past 16 years. Never been denied. Questioned and warned once or twice. I have friends of same nationality who claim to have problems all the time.. I dress well and keep reasonably sober when I travel. I think that's important. -
OP will not have any problems leaving Thailand, whatever passport he or immigration decides to use. They will either stamp departure in the old passport like they did in my case, or they will transfer the stamps there and then to the new one. As for traveling on an almost expired passport: Its not only dodgy, but impossible to many countries. That's not a problem in this case. He already got a new passport.
