  1. That's possible. Or maybe its optional. This was at the Chiang Khong - Huay Xai border. Probably does not happen every day there.. I can't remember if I showed them the new passport. I was traveling by motorcycle which also requires stamps and paperwork. This turned into a bit of an odd situation actually. When I arrived at the Lao side, I tried to use the new passport. But they asked for an exit stamp from Thailand. I showed the old passport and told them it was cancelled. They still insisted on sticking the Visa in the old passport.. Exact same situation happened later when i crossed from Lao into Cambodia. Visa in the cancelled passport. It wasn't before I came back to Thailand at Poipet-Aranyaprathet I managed to switch to the new passport.
  2. When I did this they actually just put the departure stamp in my cancelled passport. I did not have any visa or re-entry permit to worry about. This was some years ago before they actually destroyed the passports by cutting corners or holes.. It was just stamped "Passport Cancelled" on the first page.
  3. Lol. I had to get some new photos done recently and i noticed they had a poster in the shop with different shirt and ties etc. they could photoshop on you. They also had some Thai police uniforms. Maybe i will try that for my next visa extension ????
  4. This particular incident he mentioned is all over Thai media as we speak. National TV included.
  5. Who knows.. What I can say is that I had a previous volunteer visa and came back recently on a new passport without issues. Whether or not the new passport made any difference, I will never know. Also, i don't understand why people get harassed because of ED-visas? How would they know if you have been to school or not? Yeah, they can test your Thai skills.. But there's a multitude of languages that can be studied to obtain one. Even self-defense. Would you have different stamps for each category?
  6. I never had the Morchana app installed. Never reported my day 5 test anywhere. I received no instructions to do either at any point when i arrived. Still a free man. I would not worry too much about it.
  7. IKEA has a good selection. I had the "Markus" for several years. 5000THB. Very happy with it. Comfortable and good quality. Its still good as new. Comes with a 10 year warranty. https://www.ikea.com/th/en/search/products/?q=chair office
  8. There has been complaints about QR in other threads here recently. Looks like they are struggling a bit. I used them enough to get a silver card for a while. Good service.. horrible airport in Doha. The new and the old. Business class lounge simplest i have ever seen. I always found Emirates a much better option. Qatar wins rewards all the time for some strange reason. Maybe the same way they got the FIFA world cup ????
  9. Rent a flight is as real as any ticket can be. For a certain period. No way to tell the difference. Confirmed. I got one last year and I was able to log in on the airline website with the confirmation code and my surname. It was also accepted by the Thai Embassy.
  10. DE-Lamination is possible. Requires some equipment and can be risky. But i assume the document is worthless as it is, so might be worth a try? Check Youtube for demonstrations.
  11. QR is overrated IMO. I had a silver card there for a while. Far better than Thai airways of course ???? but nowhere near Emirates or anyone in the same league. How they can be top rated all the time is a mystery to me. Doha Airport: Makes CDG in Paris look good. "Always" cramped into a bus when landing or boarding. No gates. And i have never seen a simpler business class lounge than what Qatar offers in Doha.
  12. I would stay clear of PLV. Although this was several years ago, I have two personal friends that ended up with months of overstay using them. Just endless promises that "your visa will be ready soon". Never happened. According to this review which is recent, it tells a similar story: https://www.phuket.net/directory/profile/phuket-visa-law-office-limited-partnership/phuket I'm not saying this happens to everyone. I also know a guy that's used them for years without problems. But its risky. I can vouch for TMT. I have used them in the past and so has several of my friends. Never heard of any problems. Phuket agents tend to be more expensive though than BKK or Pattaya for a retirement visa.. I would check with TVC. You will need to ship your passport to BKK. But in my experience they are very professional with updates along the process. Delivered 3+12 months Non-O + extension in about 3 weeks in my case.
  13. I don't think that's necessary. If you have a UK passport you should not need to prove address or residence in that country. Hence: "Residence permit in a country in which visa application is submitted (In case that applicant is not a national of the country in which visa application is submitted.)" What can be a bit confusing is that the Thai e-visa websites list of documents required seems to be a bit generic. You will still need to upload something under that "residence" post.
  14. I did another re-upload of my passport. Worked fine. This was a few weeks ago. As for "letter from spouse": "To Royal Thai embassy in xxxxx. I confirm I am married to xxxxx and support his visa application" Signed with place/date. That's all. For proof of accommodation i uploaded my wife's house book.
  15. Just watched the entire video and i have more questions now than before. Letter from employer? Invitation ID? Bank statements? for a Tourist visa? Multiple or single entry, either case this makes no sense. Actually, that list of requirements looks just as complicated as the one i did for my Multiple Non-O. And good luck uploading 12 months travel history if you travel a lot.. I got as far as the front page. Visa still approved though????
  16. I don't think so. I have had extensions issued in random provinces. Never had any problems doing TM30, 90 day reports or CoRs in my home province.
  17. I keep reading posts about Phuket airport immigration supposed to be friendlier than BKK or DMK. But in my experience its exactly the opposite over the years. Maybe times have changed. Or maybe its just random luck at all points.
  18. I have a friend that was denied entry to Thailand a few years ago. Too many exempt stamps. (Why this happens to some while others are fine doing the same thing for decades is still a mystery and discussed in other threads) Anyway: He was sent back to his passport country (Australia) at his own expense with no options whatsoever. He wanted to go to Singapore to apply for a Tourist visa at the Thai embassy but was denied. The return flight actually had a stopover in Singapore. But he said the airline staff kept his passport, and it wasn't returned to him before he landed in Australia. He then got a Tourist visa in Perth and returned to Thailand a few days later without any problems ????
  19. I think you are mixing up posters here. I was the one who mentioned 2nd passport. I got one, and I'm fully aware of what it is. I replied to Dart12 who said his friend was planning to get an emergency passport in Cambodia and return to Thailand. I think that's problematic. If he can get a second passport he would be fine.
  20. Ok. You mentioned Emergency passport. That might be a problem. Normally used to fly Point A to B and return in an emergency. Traveling between other countries where not a citizen is normally not accepted. I have some bad personal experience with this which i wont elaborate on right now.. Also i have trouble understanding how your friend can be deported from Thailand to Cambodia with a US passport? Im not saying its BS, im just confused as i didn't think this was possible? As for being detained in Cambodia again: When exactly did this happen? You said last week. Before Thursday there was no visa on arrival in Cambodia. He would not even be allowed to board the plane he was deported on? I assume he didn't have time to apply for a Cambodian e-visa while staying 12 hours in "airport jail" in BKK?
  21. I just did a successful visa run to Cambodia with a previous volunteer visa. However I used a second passport on return to Thailand. If that made any difference i don't know. The original passport is full, so will not be used again. I guess I will never know. I was not questioned anything on departure or arrival. Immigration denied me a marriage extension because of the volunteer visa earlier. But they actually told me to do a visa run and apply again. They did not tell me to switch passports. That contradicts people being deported in BKK. (Not saying it didn't happen) Also, if this problem is real i can see a problem with enforcement.. How do they know if the volunteer visa wasn't legit? Those that had a "proper" one with work permit are not going to carry that around after its expired? Will they also get deported?
