I have been living in 4 different countries for the past 10 yrs but only see these kind of news regularly in Thailand. Either its not reported elsewhere or it happens so frequently in Thailand, especially involving foreigners.no one knows what happened but there is absolutely no suggestion that she would have jumped. seems as though it was probably a very unfortunate accident. as said before and as happens in a lot of cases not just here but many countries that have very low balconies. Very sad. Thoughts with her boyfriend and family. for a dream holiday to end up in the very premature death of a young lady is so sad. RIP -
Waste of funds to build pedestrian bridges as I hard see people using it. They still prefer to risk their lives instead of wasting energy going up bridges and walking few hundred meters to the nearest bridge.
-
1000% entrance fees from foreigners are more than enough to cover costs unless the money goes to wrong hands.

I've been seeing people jumping off balconies in Thailand almost on weekly basis, especially foreigners. Is it common everywhere else or it's popular news here?

Vat is only refundable for goods purchased above certain amount, if I'm not mistaken 3k Baht and you need to show the goods are not used when leaving the country. For anything consumed in the country, refund is not applicable.WooooW.
Thank you for that information.
I really was not aware of that.
From now on I will keep all my receipts from 7 11, Makro, restaurants, etc, and claim a VAT refund when I make a trip to Europe.

I travel to Chiang Mai from Bangkok regularly for business trips and spends about 2-3 hrs in total for one way trip. If they could not make the travel time within 3 hrs, most people would still stick to flight unless train is significantly cheaper. Of course planes are prone to delays. For 600km route, the train needs to run at least 200km/h without any stops so 250km/h is ideal speed. Having lived in Japan and travelled in Taiwan and China, only high speed trains for long distance travel.
-
Looking at the culture here of procuring things as cheap as possible, I'm pretty sure they will run out of budget to maintain the rails and trains so everything will end up being abandoned.
-
Japan could sell them the decommissioned first generation of bullet trains from the 1970s which runs at max 200km/h! Or just give them free.
-
Ambulances are at the mercy of traffic and drivers here.
-
Just use electric train with max 120km/h. Or go for Chinese made which should be half of Japanese made.

I'm fine with dual pricing for locals and visitors from overseas but as an expat who is working here with work permit and paying more taxes than regular people here, I feel foreigners working or staying here deserved better. The 10x entrance fee for National Parks pissed me the most.

Another round of talking and no actions.

Thais traveling overseas should be charged at least double than everyone.

Yup, my durian pack worth about 300baht taken in seconds and finished within minutes. I could only watch, laugh and cry at the same time.I kid you not; years ago a monkey ripped my 7-Eleven bag and ran away with a sandwich, just outside the shop in Petchaburi. Those monkeys get fed by the locals, but seems that this one wanted to try some 'falang food' for once... [emoji2] -
My wife's durian was taken at the same place 2 years ago so we were lucky!

Why can't the registration be carried out within 1 week after buyer purchases the vehicle? A car not properly registered should not be allowed to leave the showroom.

Maybe she wanted to show result of "whitening" by the famous clinic outside Bangkok.

AOT's stock is the world's most valuable airport operator in recent news so its not surprising they only prioritize profits over everything else. There is simply no competition so only way is to boycott these shops.

While foreigners need to produce tons of identification.

Consumers can decide which shop to patronize but water should be give free or sold at reasonable price because it cannot be brought in.
