The Thai Embassy in Tokyo states this will be effective from the 21st of March with respect to the health certificate, but as of yet there is no stated date for the proof of insurance coverage. The health certificate merely has to be a "fit to fly" certificate and state you have no fever or other symptoms, but does not require exactly that you have been tested and proven free from Covid-19, which would be impossible for most people.

In any event, this is pretty difficult for most people anyway, and almost impossible for many people coming from countries that do not have these available in English language.

    * Just reading a social media comment - A Thai spoke to the Okaka Thai consulate and they insisted it had to be a Covid-19 certificate. Obviously, this is very expensive, or just mostly not available in most places for a discretionary purposes like this. Another brilliant policy move.

In the UK, to make a appointment with your local Doctor can take up to 4 weeks waiting, and without a proper test for Covid 19,(which can only be given if you have symptoms) it seems a impossible task, I will not be making my regular 3 times a year trip to Thailand until all this blows over

Discrimination! It aint against the law to be a racist but discrimination based on it is against the law. Lock this guy up for at the very least tarnishing what little is left of the tourism industry.

A Crim is a crim. Doesnt matter who they are or where they are from. If you dont want to deal with Foreign Crims than go work in a factory or something.

I take English is not your first language?

I'm ready, got a few cloth bags, just have to get the brain used to taking them with me to the shops. I am a bit concerned for the locals, who may die of starvation without plastic bags.

Yes how will street vendors cope, may have to take your own plastic containers with you at all times????

  4. can anyone help, i have been looking for a white ceramic wall tile called subway, been to many tile places in Pattaya found what i wanted at Home pro 155 baht a m2, but to my dissapointment i was told they are discontinued, they are available at some stores but the price is between 400-600 baht m2, does anyone know of a online company that can supply ceramic tiles in Thailand that maybe they have used before, many thanks John

Hate to break it to you guys, but they have gone. Highly unlikely they left a copy of their ID behind for you to find, or coming back for an encore.

Given that pretty much every massage shop across the country offers "extras" not really sure what all the fuss is about, apart from "image" which is a waste of time. Everyone knows what such places are about, so pretending otherwise is somewhat futile, especially since publicising the video only exacerbates the matter.

Almost every massage parlour in Thailand offers extras, I do not think so, do not tar all with the same brush ,their are some hard working thai women out there, you make out that all thai women  that work in massage parlours are prostitutes , how long have you lived in Thailand to make this comment?

    I hope you are right....

But unfortunately too many people look only at the bottom line, quality no longer matters over price... its why and how we end up consuming so much rubbish...

See these guys out of business... but unfortunately I feel they will remain competitive on price and that's all most people will look at, and why not, 'it won't happen to them, right' ???

Does anyone know the name of insurance company , not the website but actual company name that insured this poor girl, I would like to keep away from it when doing my annual insurance

Whoop-di-do, so with a little bit of luck they now do not have to pay overstay on the current trip.

It is good to finally know the exact worth of 13 Thai lives: a week's holiday, and a rather useless elite-card for the duration of 5 years. For most working stiffs a visa-exempt stay in Thailand of 2-3 weeks a year is all they can swing anyway, apart from the fact that your loved ones still would need visa's on extended stays.

Then again, the farangs in question are getting away lightly. For all we know they could have been given the honor of being appointed honorary Thai.

Totally agree Thai citizenship at the least, what they did was unbelievable, they saved the lives of 13 Thais, 12 of them children, THE WHOLE WORLD WAS WATCHING AND PRAYING FOR THE RESCUE OF THESE PEOPLE, c’mon Thailand show a little bit more gratitude

In that case it’s a no brainier...

Get an IDP and remove all doubt...

(& remember to have it on your person when driving / riding)

Referring to the thread where foreigners are being targeted for renting bikes without a valid licence, also another where a German lad got kicked in the face.... It's seems the police are becoming quite privy to what licences you can and can't drive / ride with.

I always get international licence, no matter what the law says, the law is the policeman who stops you, if you have international licence, the police will let you go without 250 baht fine, so for the sake of £5.50 get one

another lesson why not to buy into the big scam that is called insurance.

as it says here, typical insurance from home not cover you after 2 or 3 months abroad.

sometimes they tell you, sometimes not. doesnt really matter, as for most claims from incidents in Thailand they could find several reasons not to pay anyway

You should always read your insurance policy, and when taking out insurance they give you the option, I always go for 3 month for one trip, that seems to be the maximum if you take out 3 month one trip insurance then after 3 months you are not insured, simple

yes my thoughts as well , should the drivers insurance not be responsible for all his costs?

I had a accident years ago. Not my fault, a thai man knocked me off my bike from the side while running across the road still on his mobile, he was paying no attention to traffic, I had to pay his hospital bill, my. Bike was. Confiscated until I paid, Police man said to me when I said it's not my fault, he said IF YOU WERE NOT IN THAILAND THE ACCIDENT WOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED,PAY UP
