  1. Why worry about the work permit? Because you are eventually going to get caught. A lot of Thais are reported to believe foreigners who live here are losers who can't make it at home. And they think that about the guys with money. You need some kind of skill, Napoleon Dynamite, because the Thai government is looking out for its people's livelihoods and has reserved certain jobs as Thai only. Don't you have free, open Uni over there in some place where you could go write some exams? You just need a BA in anything. Worked with a British dude who was a baker, culinary arts. Middle school kids loved him. Whatever you do, though, don't get a big life insurance policy....
  2. Yes, I agree except for your low odds. We got stopped at a checkpoint in Bangkok and we hadn't filled out the itinerary. It cost B300 which the wife believes went right into the diligent officers pocket. Once you learn about red plates don't you just find your eyes drawn to them as you assess your fellow consumer's purchase? Bangkok Cops,no doubt, have their own thoughts about red plates when they see red plates from the provinces. Document the itinerary and don't drive at night. And think how happy you'll make the officer that you've complied with the law. And it took almost a year to get the plates the wife's grandma ordered us to get. Bagged only once in Bangkok in a year.
  3. The terrorists are the Russians trump has aligned the US with. They are the 5,000 taliban criminals Pompeo and Trump let out of prison to serve as a stumbling to Biden's transition. And trump had a branch of Xi's pet Belt and Road bank paying him 10 times his presidential salary for rent during most of his presidency. How convenient! A bank from China down the hall in case you need a "loan". And then practically straight from the inauguration, trump's in laws, the Kushners, flew to China to hawk condos with free green cards attached for the better part of a million bucks each to crazy rich Asians. Trump's only as pro American as he's paid to be and it's obvious that neither putin nor musk has maga on the shopping list because he's more of a personal shopper for those two than leader of the free world.
  4. A large portion of trouble with living in Thailand seems to be closely related to alcohol consumption. Find a new hobby. You'll be healthier, healthier, safer, and have far less to complain about.
  5. Cuz that would take all the fun out of it! You haven't lived unti you have walked like a yogi across 4 lanes of moving traffic striding as sesately as a monk off to his morning rounds.
  6. For a basic PC for home, I'd buy a refurbished unit for no more than a couple hundred bucks. You can also buy a little PC stick that plugs into the HDMI port of your TV. I bought one for about $100 a couple of years ago and it still works just fine
  7. Putin? Isn't he the dude who keeps threatening to blow up the world if anyone tries to stop his slaughter in Ukraine? How has he affected my life....?
