It's a bit far-fetched to think one in 50,000 people suffer serious blood clots (TTS) in other countries after the AstraZeneca jab but only one person after a few million here in Thailand.

A more likely explanation is that Thai doctors just don't know how to diagnose TTS, so their deaths have been recorded as a stroke unrelated to the vaccine.

Please post the scientific link that states one in 50.000 people suffer serious blood clots. It sounds far fetched.

Same applies to the Emirates flight from Dubai today. For anybody interested, 163 passengers on board, mainly families and couples (with a few odd balls like me also!). Further, an additional, approximately 100 passengers, postponed last minute yesterday as COE did not arrive in time. FYI only.

And arrivals at Suwarnabhum were down by 163

  3. Delta variant is now around 95% of uk infections, up to around 20.000 daily in spite of very high vaccination rates. Normally over 1 million tests daily. (published). Many double vaccinated are being infected. Famous BBC presenter Andrew Marr x2 too. Close relative of mine aged 27 currently has delta covid, 2 x Pfizer jabs weeks ago as he's a doctor. (non covid ward) He puts it down to visiting pubs.

Probably because  other countries have already banned it, Temporarily stopped using it and are donating it such as Japan. I believe Japan still uses Pfizer and Moderna. Also its been recommended for people over 60 . Doesn't help people under sixty does it?

Yes it does.  The issue with AZ is not efficacy but very rare blood clots. This was inconsequential against risk of covid in over 40s but a factor for low risk covid young people. .

Now the USA is issuing a warning of myocarditis heart enlargement in young people when taking Pfizer and Moderna vaccines.

Reports state that Sinovac is 78% effective against symptoms of Covid-19

The remaining 22% suffering mild to moderated symptoms.

Reports suggest Sinovac is 100% effective again severe symptoms & death.

The 50% reported indicates 50% of people exposed to the SARS-CoV-2 virus will not contract Covid-19

Sinovac is still a lot better than nothing.

Ah! "Reports" That's it then. Accurate because of "reports" Reports without source, the media is full of them.

Three stories related to the topic:

    1. WHO saying that virus outpaces vaccininations: https://www.theguardian.com/world/2021/jun/15/coronavirus-outpacing-vaccine-effort-says-who-after-g7-doses-pledge

    2. Delta variant now detected in more than 70 countries: https://www.theguardian.com/world/2021/jun/14/delta-variant-of-covid-spreading-rapidly-and-detected-in-74-countries

     3. Some countries/territories will reduce time between vaccinations with AZ and/or Pfizer due to rise of the Delta variant: https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-northern-ireland-57424707https://www.irishtimes.com/news/health/interval-between-astrazeneca-vaccine-doses-to-be-reduced-1.4584636

Data is scarce on the delta variant as its fairly recent. Most percentage data on efficacy is from studies in the lab. In the UK from Porton Down. Data from hospitals is more reliable.

Do they actually have a vaccine that is effective against the Indian variant?  Or might all this be for nothing?

Az/Oxford has a prototype vaccine for the SA Beta variant. All suppliers are working on new variant effective solutions. MRNA is a swifter process. However I cynically suspect that they wish to sell billions more of existing vaccines before repeating the process with the new ones. New incomers a better bet.

Took around 14 months for Thailand to record 228 deaths. Now in the last 7 days there have been 228 deaths and 362 deaths for the month so far. As of yesterday deaths in the UK for the previous 7 days stood at 55.

UK has vaccinated around 70.000.000 split 1st and 2nd doses so far over 6 months and proving effective in lowering deaths. . Cases up 300% recently owing to the Delta variant. On the other hand UK tests between 800.000 and 1.200.000 daily.

Can be checked on "public health england daily report"

Currently they say that the Indian strain is responsible for 6% of all cases in Thailand with the remaining being the UK strain, however that was with a sample size of just over 3,000 tests. If they did some surge/mass testing here then I'm pretty sure that figure would be much higher now.

The India strain in the UK went from 0 to 80% in the space of 8 weeks and may delay the next "relaxation" phase. Scientists are worried.
