  1. That was my point. He's great at announcing things. He said we were going to be on Mars several years ago and he's not even close.
  2. This all reminds me of the UFO craze in the mid-70s. There were so many reports it sounded like America was being invaded. The TV series was a bit of fun though.
  3. Ian Hislop once described Musk as having a personality that was "Terrible, even by South African Standards". What's your opinion of him? He certainly gets high marks from me for investing in spaceflight, helping to bring EVs into the mainstream, and selling flamethrowers to any yank who asks for one, but I get the feeling he's always one nervous tick away from bringing disaster. I must admit it was bloody hilarious hearing Trump make "Elon won't go home!" comments about Musk apparently going full fanboy on him.
  4. Fiber intake in important, but are you getting enough hydration? Living in the tropics when you're used to more temperate climates can dry you up without you noticing.
  5. True. I can't force you to study engineering. mathematics, or physics, and should you choose to ignore all three to preserve your pre-existing beliefs it really doesn't bother me. 'You be you" as they say. My comment was intended for those who want to be informed.
  6. You can charge an EV with a generator every time and you'll still always get much further on the electricity from that generator than you would by burning the same amount of gasoline or diesel in an internal combustion engine powered car. The mechanical efficiency of electric motors being six to eight times greater ensures this. It's not as good as cleaner sources of electricity, but charging with fossil fuels only partly negates the carbon savings of an EV. It doesn't eliminate them. The quality of the generator will also affect the efficiency, but again, it doesn't come close to eliminating it.
  7. I just completed this quiz. My Score 50/100 My Time 99 seconds
  8. Vaccines produce antibodies that fight pathogens that have invaded your body. Depending on the which specific pathogen is involved, the illness may either remain sub-clinical (no visible symptoms) or progress in a weakened state while the antibodies rid it from the patient's body. Due to the antibodies being already present when the pathogen enters the body, the illness isn't allowed to get as severe as it would if the patient needed to wait for the body to begin producing its own antibodies. To say it's absurd that someone would trust a vaccine after becoming ill with a virus shows a fundamental misunderstanding of how vaccines, and antibodies work. They kill pathogens that enter the body. They do not form an invisible shield around you to prevent the illness from ever happening.* *Antibodies do kill some viruses before they show symptoms. Measles for example.
  9. That's an extra charge in most tourist areas.
  10. Too expensive with normal tourist numbers. They'd just use a wristband with some ridiculous fine for removing it.
  11. Next they'll want us to wear rubber gloves in tourist pubs.
