I rented a condo from an American guy. We paid 15000 THB a month rent for over a 4 year period.

When we were on holiday in Vietnam my Thai visa was rejected, I called and told him, he said we had to clean out the room, which my wifes family did and he kept the 30000 THB deposit. He would not negotiate what so ever.

I could do nothing, and being outside the country made it worse. Now to me a deposit means its going in the landlords pocket.

Almost the same happened to me with Thai landlord. After years of paid rent I had to leave 1 month before the end term of the last yearly contract we signed. She first ensured that I paid bills and left the keys, then she said she would withhold the whole TWO months deposit and blocked me on LINE ????

Still today some owners and agents ask 2 months deposit. Absolutely refuse to give such amount because it's against the law.

Have a look at the person I quoted Snowflake. Here's a hint- it wasn't you.

Time spent in reconnaissance is seldom wasted. A but quick off the  mark to castigate me has made you look rather foolish.

Well OP is the poster of the thread, always. I understand what you mean now. See ya

I am afraid that you are confusing Tourist Police Volunteers  ( https://www.phuket-tourist-police-volunteers.com/join.html ) with Immigration Volunteers ( http://piv-phuket.com/ )

Phuket immigration volunteers are part of phuket police volunteers, since they wear exactly the same uniform. Or anyway, those that I was referring to have the Phuket police uniform and are usually at the desk at ground floor.

Interesting that the Op has only ever made one post and seems to have joined the forum just to post it-sock or troll?

Actually. I posted and answered another time, answering also to your "nice" words and explaining about the picture I had posted previously.

You assume a lot of things (wrong). You are a bit distracted, and you dream an immigration "smart" car. Your profile is perfect to be a volunteer at immigration. Send your application now!????

  5. Yes i meant those at ground floor. And yes I mean especially women, I cannot say personally who since I go there once a year and I cannot recall. One time one of them made unnecessary remarks looking at my travel history (she is not an officer, should not question and sneak into my passport for anything but Thai visa stamps), I also argued with her for this and she actually behaved like she was an important officer just to show off in front of the other bystanders. Another time, still a woman (cannot tell if the same) questioned my wife (who is on spouse visa) like she was an investigator trying to understand if she worked illegally.

Both times I had all papers and everything in place, of course.

The picture I posted was just an example taken from Google. They have the same exact shirt. (Phuket logo on right sleeve and flags for language spoken on right chest).

Good that it was just my problem and few others. As the user with the "smart" car on the avatar suggested, probably it's because I'm scruffy, unprepared and I have bad attitude!????

    Peace!

Which immigration office(s) are you referring to please?

I haven't seen foreign volunteers at Chaeng Wattana in Bangkok.

These dressed in white in the picture. At Phuket immigration you cannot do anything without passing their "screening".  Usually the younger are nicer, the older ones especially the women treat you like a scum especially if you are a young they assume you are doing something illegal and ridiculously investigate making odd questions while their job should be just check if your papers are ok before going to the officer. Many times I've seen girls rejected rudely for the way they were dressed. I mean ok to reject if not compliant, but acting like a high rank officier of the Army looks ridiculous.

Just gone back thru your posts. Your obvious distaste for Thai people is quite alarming, quite racist actually. If you are indeed in Thailand, then perhaps you shouldn't be.

As for the international volunteers, who help and give information to many many foreigners a day at immigration offices around Thailand. They give their time and are appreciated by most. So why the hatred??

Question 1) matter of fact I'm just waiting to leave Thailand for good

Question 2) good that you appreciate their work. I appreciate it too. Sometimes I felt like not liking at all the attitude of SOME OF THEM

  8. Those in white shirt doing customer relation at immigrations. How do you feel about them? Some are nice, but too many are arrogant, salty, almost mean. Never spoke to a Thai IO with an attitude like that.

What's their problem? They like playing the cop?

  9. Check the Facebook Pages of each dealer to find offers, few months ago Ducati Phuket was selling the Monster 797 @ 299000THB instead of 399000THB regular price. They had also huge discounts on new Multistrada 950 and Scrambler but I cannot recall the prices of these two.

  10. Look into Finn mobile. It's a virtual operator and they use DTAC infrastructure. I have now 10gb 200 minutes calls at 189 baht/month. Last year I had 179 baht promotion. It should have doubled this year but they just gave me the chance to be upgraded at the higher package still on promotional price at 10 baht more. Never been happier of ditching AIS.

If you are buying a smartphone you will just tether your data from it and use internet from your laptop.

They have also bigger packages if you need up to unlimited full speed internet at 749thb/month.

    Racism is a worldwide issue.

    Good post mate.

I agree. What about us whites discriminated all the time in Thailand? (Different rules, different bribes needed, called "white man". Can you imagine calling someone "black man" in Europe?they will probably send you to jail for that and draw a swastika on your forehead)

I'm up for some protest and durian lootings, who is with me?

You can't say that KFC has a good value when you can buy fried chicken in any street corner or market for less than half the (normal pre-covid-19) price.

You can discuss many things but cannot tell me that any Thai street vendor's fried coating is the same as KFC.

You would lose weight if you ate carbs as well on only 1200 calories.

On paper, yes. But it all depends on each individual, many that have fat problems even without eating too much usually have a problem with carbs. Cutting carbs it's a shock for the body and for some can be the winning recipe for weight loss. But it's for sure not for everyone as it's heavy on kidneys and it's not healthy to live on keto all time. It's worth trying 4-6 months if you want a dramatic change of your body though.

What's confusing Bob, do you think chicken & fries are good for you?

Well you said nutritional value 0, that's wrong because chicken is one of the best source of protein and eating KFC means eating a lot of proteins , a decent amount of fats and also carbs. All in all if you eat it once in a while and you do heavy workouts can be considered a good meal macro-wise. Of course, if you eat it everyday and don't do exercise it will make you a fatass and give you digestion problems especially for the fried flour coating.
