  1. Had one last November that took 21 days and one in December that took 25 days.  I have one now that was mailed Jan 15 and it left the US on Jan 26 after passing through 7 distribution centers first.  Mine all arrived within 3 days after they reach Bangkok and being documents/letters probably spent very little time at Thai customs.

I was not aware there was such a form. What is it called?

Currently I claim the tax back each year but it is a huge hassle so I would love to avoid it if this is indeed possible to do.

On regular savings you can have the withholding deferred with a Thai tax number and completed form at the bank but that dose not apply if it is a fixed savings account.

  3. We booked two hotels and found the government program to definitely be a money saver although complicated for my understanding but I just let the wife handle it.

one hotel for two nights was 9180 on Agoda without the program, 7650 on Agoda with the program, and 6000 booking direct with the hotel and government program.  The other hotel could not be booked direct but the price on Agoda was 1770 without the program and 1120 with.  Then adding in 900/night for three days equals 2700 for food and tours.  It certainly works for me.

We would have signed up for the promotion but it requires participants to have a (EDIT: I believe it was) GSB bank account, which we don't have. If they expanded the program to work with other banks it will be a lot more popular.

My wife transferred money from our Bangkok Bank savings account to the travel together app yesterday.  You are supposed to be able to do it via debit card and ATM as well but for some reason she went inside and let them do it.

We haven't travelled yet but my gf had transferred 1,000 baht into her G-Wallet.

She just opened her G-Wallet, selected "transfer" and she said she can select to transfer money from her G-Wallet to her bank.

I think a lot of people would be angry if it was a government scam in that they kept your money.

That sounds like what my wife just learned and attempted to explain to me.

I was at Imm. on the 2nd to change my 1yr. extension from retirement to marriage which went ok as I was given the 30 day under review stamp in passport which told me to return on the 24th which I did only to be told that my application was still under review as it was when I returned to Imm. yesterday the 30th! What can a person do? My 1yr. ext. expired yesterday and the under review stamp expired on the 24th am I on overstay? Does one need to return to Imm. day in and day out to find ones status?

I did my extension of stay based on marriage June 10 and my current extension expired July 3.  I went back on July 31 as directed  after my 30 day under consideration was over but was told to come back again August 5 because they were behind on approvals.  The lady in front of me was told the same thing.

    Do it like this:-

Get an "X" rated capacitor suitable for AC mains use anything around 0.1 - 0.22u will do the trick.

    https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32947949184.html

0.1u will give you about 32k + the 4.7k => about 6mA through the LED

    0.22u will give you about 14k + the 4.7k => about12mA through the LED

The 4.7k will dissipate 0.2W or 0.6W respectively.

I received all my parts today and put it together and it lights up nicely however the resister gets very hot.  I used the .22u capacitor.  Thanks for the idea.

It's not "to code" so won't pass a PEA inspection (for a permanent supply). Also, if your main breaker happens to be an RCBO or Safe-T-Cut then it won't stay "on" with that connection.

Do be aware that unless you are certain that MEN has been implemented in your area you are better off NOT makeing that N-E connection. You can get a good idea if MEN is available by looking at the power poles in the street, if the neutral (usually the top wire of the 4 LV wires) is grounded every 3rd or 4th pole you're good to go, if not leave it as is.

The ground bar in the CU should be connected to the ground rod.  Commonly done with 10mm2.

    Refer to diagram posted above.

Use 10mm2 for other mains connections in the CU.

Will it work correctly if the connection between the ground and neutral bars is made after the main breaker?  I could cut the power and easily make that connection myself if so.

  10. I just checked mine and the neutral is definitely not bonded to my ground rod.  If I understand correctly it is acceptable and safer in my case to connect them after the main breaker but PEA requires them before the main breaker for an inspection.  If my understanding is correct then what size wire should I use for this connection on a 50 amp service?

  12. Thanks so much for all the suggestions.  Considering all the good advice I will search out some small neon lamps and replace the LED’s.  Space is limited and I had some spare parts and a lot of time on hand.  Here are a couple of pictures of the almost finished product.

  13. The actual circuit uses a 64K 1 watt resister (I had several 33k 2 watts on hand), a couple of diodes and the purpose is to light an LED from 220 ac.  I just used the above pictures to simplify the question.  Don’t laugh to hard at the completed project as I am definitely a rookie but love the hobby.
