  1. I suspect many people now have no income.  Thailand is not one for job security for what would be -the working class- they earn money per job and pay no tax.

Of course when no work is available they have no money. hence they store gold in the form of wearable storage and baht bars for when the wolf is at the door.

I think the wolf is at the door and the pawn shops and gold shops, the businesses of which are very similar are exploiting those people hence your spread

  2. The carbon should be ok, once dried it will still remain as active , the majority of water purifers use active carbon,

trying to think what a surfactants might do but there is nothing on carbon for it to interact with.

you mask should be fine, some of them such as cambridge can be cleaned.

    don't worry

  3. I have no idea about many of these posters. Yes we can get 99.9% or whatever the typical Euro standard is. Though I reccomend you don't get the big bars you suggest, I think it is the smaller bars that it is not easy to hide lumps of tungsten inside.

good shop will give you certificate ylg is not bad

but still remember the last crash and people were reporting tungsten in those big bars so multiple small will be more useful for you, especially if moving them out of country

  4. Avoid transactions with old people. Culture is different here as to what is the norm. We had one these two oldies were saying they would throw in this and that, obviously we did not want to rush into it, when we decided we would buy a property/land suddenly the price increased by 1/3rd,

during the insult the oldies had the cheek to walk to our place of work and deliver gifts for children,

we put a stop to this by getting security to refuse to let them in, we also purchased a corner plot from an individual who maintained their price.

don't trust the oldies, they try to mess with you, now the oldies sold their land, we had private security to prevent them getting in to new property which does not belong to them, they think its all mai ben drai and try to visit children who are no relation

  5. I guess to be in software sales you don't need to understand the practical side of things?

shocking but I have seen worse in engineering and sales are important

when I first got 10 I was installing all the things I need to prevent the add ons, 1 minute of duckduck going the info. I needed and people had already solved the worse issues, not sure the advice got any better.  Also the ssd comment above is spot on and even low cost will be better

Not sure if I’d call it a “rip off” when I see the prices quoted.  Overpriced for what you get, but considering the next step (for high school) would be (to use the US as an example)...schools such as Andover, Exeter, St. Pauls, Groton, Hotchkiss, Deerfield and Choate, with tuition running $60k+ (not including travel) and some people actually want to raise their kids rather than ship them off to boarding school....what are the better options?

If I had the money (and kids) though, I’d probably prefer to send mine off to the government school, tell them to just daydream their way through classes, and put the money into investments for their future while diligently homeschooling them after hours.  I sure wish my parents had done that for me.  Haha.  If you think the International Schools or even New England prep schools are expensive, you should see how much “alternative” education (secretive corrupt private “reform” schools) costs.

I am not sure you should use the US as an example of quality education, expensive maybe .....

  7. I was reading that article about US not reporting its swine flu and what ever one it was 2018 or 2019 or the year before until deaths had topped out 900, then it started reporting a possible pandemic.

The US propaganda machine works very well and based on intelligence running Thai government it does not need to try very hard.

Perhaps Thailand can accept all coronavirus infected people from all over the world and see if more of them die or do more road users die over a period of 3 months, I think the answer would be the same even if those with existing conditions were included in the stats.

Perhaps we can have anutin walk on pavements of Bangkok to see where real health issues lie, he is welcome to keep his surgical mask on, that will lose its effectivness after 10 minutes and will remain inneffective against the pollution particles

  8. Hi lets clean up thailand.

First thing to accept is that you bring nothing to the table engineering wise or know how wise than the average Thai graduate.  The average skilled engineer  will have a take home of 60 to 100 k a month.

So you can see what you are competing with. You do not speak the language either.

What there are is a few old yanks boomers if you will, who are part of the old boys network siphoning money from the ADB and other US type charity organisations. These networks keep a few sexpats lifestyles running smoothly.  Some of the oldies may well have the experience you don't. They also have access to the taps and choose to bring who they want onto their projects - interpret that as educated young attractive Thai girls or boys if they are that way inclined.

Yes there are opportunities, but probably not earning that much more than you would as a teacher.

With respect to the work you want to achieve, yes it is admirable but municipalities already have people wishing to make these changes, I know some who do things with their own money, that is no grant

    good luck

Oceans are your best bet for obvious reasons. The more surrounding you the better. Indonesia, phillipines, taiwan, east vietnam.

That did not work well for the chappie trying to create his own sovereign village floating off the coast of Phuket I think.  Thailand may well have been the kinder of nations to have caught someone doing so, the others may set an example

  10. As I read the forum and speak to others about air quality I was hoping for collective intelligence to provide some idea for better quality air locations in Asia, Indonesia appears to be a building site, the only decent parts foreigners are not allowed to go Much of Malaysia is polluted worse than Thailand and the government does not address it other than to provide false AQI,

So where can one move in Asia to get good air?

mods - This is not a topic about current pollution levels it is about obtaining info from members on where in Asia is good

They are still saying the air quality will improve in Shanghai and Beijing. LOL!

    You are just kidding yourself.

The population is increasing, number of cars increasing, pollution increasing.

Sooner or later, you reach a point of no return as many cities in China already have.

When it monsoon, rains, the air may appear clean, but where exactly do you think the rain is washing all those toxins to?

When it gets to the point of wearing a mask everyday, what's the point?

Only some one that has trapped themselves in Thailand would think this way.

Air pollution was the fourth leading risk factor for deaths in China,

Now how much exactly did the Thai gov't budget for environmental issues?

    They did budget for Submarines.

You think this pollution problem is going to fix itself?

Will only get worse and many other major cities have learned the hard way.

Whether pollution, floods or drought, Thailand has never solved any of these problems and does not have the knowledge or skill to solve these.

Let's add a couple more million cars in Bangkok and see how much the air quality improves because that is exactly what will happen in the near future

When China says it will clean up the environment it will.

Thailand has not the political will nor the strong leadership to do so.

Current junta is struggling to maintain control despite 4 years+ of repression and sending opponents /dissidents to reeducation

I live on the border of Bangkok and Nonthaburi only a few hundred meters from Changwattana.

This morning in my house downstairs my meter showed AQI of 127 and 2.5 level of 103. It was only very very slightly higher outside.

Mrs J has gone off to play golf at Muang Ake, She has taken my meter and hopefully will remember to check what the level is there. If I get a reading I will post.

I notice the well known international school near Pak Kret Chaengwattana has started reporting AQI in the green on various days such as 14th Jan when all around is showing AQI of 150 <2.5 microns.  Is this just advertising. Does Nichada Thani have an external air purifier in its own eco bubble?

Who is going to police this law ?

Personally. I have never seen a police car physically cruising up and down the roads to catch offenders .

Exactly Creasy, the majority like to control traffic lights instead of leaving them on automatic optimised control.

I did in fact see a police bmw with a camera on top, had just pulled off tollway and reaccelerated to 80 kmh as I passed them, they tracked me for a while to make sure I was not doing more than 80

if only they did something about the usually mercedes going 60 -80 on tollways

or perhaps curb bad bus driving now they are allowed on tollway

Govt seem only to care about Bangkok. Even worse here in Kanchanaburi where a small mountain only a few kms from our house disappeared in the gloom yesterday afternoon.

The government don't care about Bangkok either. The government do however attempt to placate us inviciles who live here.

Even now when the pollution is blown away suddenly many government monitoring sites are suddenly online and reporting. these same sites stop reporting for hours at a time during peak pollution times.

So don't feel to bad about it, Kanchanburi probably has equally bad pollution to the rest of the country.

It has the countryside burning <deleted> and all those vehicles pumping dirty black stuff.

Even fields within BKK are being burnt e.g. near Kasetsart uni not one police does anything about it
