There is no real crack down. The reason for the postponement is lack of interest. Both locally and internationally.

    You are probably correct.

I reckon the sponsors have pulled out. Last Pattaya marathon (July 17th 2016) was advertised as an 'International event' with 2 million Baht prize money.

This year I could't find out, still can't, full details of the race. I'm a member of a couple of Thai running sites and it's almost as the event doesn't exist.

I would hardly class the Pattaya runs an international event. Come September, any 'international athlete' worth their running shoes is probably doing the big one in Capetown.

These sporting events have a common following. Clubs decide in the close season what events to target. Cancelling with less than a month to go puts a big question mark against the authorities commitment to quality sport.

The fact that is is now scheduled for September is of little consolation to those who had the Thai marathon (16th July) in their original programme.

  4. The wife gave me a great BJ.

"Where did you learn such skill love?"

    "From my mum!" She replied.

"And where did she learn the smoking skill love?"

    "From my Grandma!" She replied.

"How did Grandma learn fellatio love?"

A frown! I thought the posh word had stumped her; but no!!

    She replied. "From me!!"

what a shame being in training for the last 3 months :burp: all thought quality tourists tat will miss out on

Well it has only been postponed so your training is not wasted. Just keep the aerobic work going for another couple of weeks. You'll be OK.

As for the tourists and sports fans they are not so lucky. They would have come from far and wide. They might keep to their flights but no marathon!! What could they do instead? Sunbathe and swim in the bay!

  6. I've tried to find out info'  on the marathon. The only difference between now and a week ago has been the crackdown.

The TAT wants to promote sport and the authorities want to clean up Pattaya. I don't live there and I'm asking if anyone thinks there could be a connection.

When I did a bit of sport years ago it took a calamity to cancel an international event like this. Many international athletes might have booked their flights,, etc.

Glad we got enough people doing basic math with some minor assumptions to call those numbers into question....the question is just how many can't even do that and sign up with her. I think I'll have someone look into this story for me and give me a handful of thai comments for my amusement lol

I'll have a word with Mrs Owl and see if she would let me make contact (research only). I'll spill the beans on TvisaF if everything goes to plan.

Coincidentally, my last visit to the UK was nine years ago and i deduced from that last visit that a lot of kids over there seemed to have forgotten what garbage bins are for!

    I agree.

Two years ago I went back for the first time after a long spell here. I stayed in Kilburn (London). What a dump! Drunks everywhere. Rubbish blowing about all over the place (bins were full and overflowing). Youngsters weaving in and out of pedestrians on the pavement. Women shouting at their kids in push chairs.

    Talk about going downhill!!

Not really the way to go on if you want to be a sporting hub; especially for an event where elite competitors plan a schedule many months ahead of time.

My daughter had planned on coming over from the UK to run but found it strange that there were no entry details available. Although the TAT lady had done her bit in promoting it.

  10. I think some of my Englishness has rubbed off on the village Thais.

I was taking the village chief to Nong Khai (for his business) along with his wife and my wife. He was sitting in the front and the two ladies in the back. He was drinking from a bottle of water. When he finished he wound down the window and threw it out. Fortunately the traffic was sparse. I reversed the pick-up quickly got out and threw the empty bottle in the back.

I made nothing of it at all. Just carried on driving. Not sure whether he was bemused or shocked. But he had a strange look about him; maybe embarrassment!!

The following week saw the village undergo a significant change. Rubbish, which had been there for years, was being picked up and put in bins and a rubbish collection started the following month.

BUT I can tell you Mrs Owl was not a happy bunny. How dare I do such a thing. Thainess!!!

Many years ago I went to a bull ring, not to see bullfighting but to watch what was advertised as  fun/entertainment for tourists.

I saw something similar, just inland from Torrevieja, some 25 years ago. At that time I lived there and thought maybe it was a good night out.

The show was the first of two 'bull' evenings. We went to the 'fun night' and watched as bulls were teased, tormented and humiliated. Never went again.

I'm with you on boycotting this animal stuff; from tigers to crocs to cobras.

for this, as you may notice, i get a lot of sneering sarcasm and derision thrown my way on this forum-

but at least i don't conduct myself as nothing better than a modern day colonist, and i am truly loved and respected by Thais

I only copied a bit of your post dear. Forgive me for that.

I reckon you have a bit of a complex about many farang here in Thailand.

No one hates you. No one is throwing sneering sarcasm and derision at you. You are simply talking down to people and it gets their backs up.

You have no monopoly on love and caring. I love Thailand also but I'm not blind to the injustices and double-standards of the country. I help in my own way, like thousands of expats do every day.

Notice Regarding Postponement of Pattaya Marathon 2017

Accordingly, the Pattaya Marathon 2017 which was scheduled to be held on Sunday July 16th 2017 at Pattaya Beach Road (in front of Central Festival Pattaya Beach). The event has been postponed due to the fact that Pattaya City could not procure the event organizer as our requirements.
Therefore, the event would be held again on Sunday September 3rd 2017 at Central Festival Pattaya Beach and for the exact date for the Marathon registration, Pattaya City will be announced soon.
Pattaya City apologized for this inconvenience.
    Regards.

I'm hugely upset over this. Has it got anything to do with the recent go-go or gentleman club crackdown? Can anyone shed a little light here.
