How? You just mentioned they are isolationist. The only aggression they show is towards those who won't let them be.
I don't think anybody is stopping them. -
Booking.com has a feature that shows the overalll occupancy rate for all hotels using this site. Most hotels use this site, so it is a fairly good indicator of occupancy rate.
It is showing a 36% occupancy rate for Chiang Mai during the 3 days of Songkran.
Somebody is lying...

It takes half a brain to make a drug test mandatory
for all taxi/coach drivers no exceptions made.
We, the customers, are sick and tired of having to
keep up with these lunatic junkies.
We simply can not tolerate this any longer.
The Big Bosses have yet to set a zero tolerance policy
for taxi/coach drivers driving under the influence.
They have yet to greatly increase the number of random breath tests
in the streets including motorcycle taxi.
They have yet to set high penalties for violators.
<deleted>?
No drug tests because bus drivers have no money.
Plenty drug tests on night clubs because can get big extortion from a busted tourist -
It's the sort of thing that an autocratic, communist regime can get away with.
I was in China when they banned the use of mobile phones when driving and when they introduced the ban on plastic bags.
It happened - bang - just like that!
Maybe Thailand should stop faffing around with pseudo democracy!
It was already a law here. It's taken the junta to enforce what the democratically elected governments would not!

They should be allowed within the inner city but not on highways and roads exceeding 60 km per hour
This is still a 3rd world country
Child safety seats are not even considered here
My sister in law was in an accident last year and her younger kid was thrown about in the car but not seriously hurt.
Even still there is no consideration for a child car seat Even after that
60 kph is absolutely deadly if you hit a pole
So IMO they should be banned as people movers
There is an easy solution.
Owners can replace Pick ups with commercial long wheel based vans with after market triple(3 rows) bench seat, seat belts and sliding windows. The whole package will be a bit cheaper than a pick up and seat 9 in the back.
Plenty of room for storage as well

It sounds as if the embassy has done a backflip on wanting to see financial evidence now.
Indeed the official statement has been removed from the embassy website.
Epic back flip!

Those in the picture look nothing like that in real life. Ratty and weatherd umbrellas and worn out deck chairs are an eye sore.
Koh larn just a thirty minute trip and white sand Crystal clear water and real padded deck chairs.. Oh and topless Russian barbies in g strings
