  1. I just sent mine off today to do it by mail. A few things. Make sure the bank issues Drafts. Not checks, not cashiers checks. Double check the spelling for "American Embassy Bangkok".

There are the forms from the DS 82, as well as the need for the check list. I found the need for the checklist to be included while sitting at the post office.

    Good luck!

  2. I put in screens in the windows. With no direction, the contractor put them on the inside. Still had bugs and lizards. I ordered and installed screens on the outside next. Only bugs small enough to fit through the tiny holes now, and the seldom seen tiny baby lizard. Screens cost me 6,000 THB for 8each  1 meter x 1 meter and 2 each 2 meter by 1 meter windows.

    Tramadol and paracetamol widely available.

I can buy antibiotics in Thailand, which I can't do in the USA or UK.

Aspirin is much easier on the stomach, and good for many things, including your heart. Tramadol and Paracetamol are not. New Skin, a liquid bandage, can be bought even at a 7-11 or comparable store. I get a lot of small infections from cuts here. I can't even find band aids at Tesco. Have to go to a pharmacy. I also miss doctors who do not give you antibiotics for everything under the sun!

Oh, so you KNOW that it's space junk and not part of an aircraft? When aircraft exceed the speed of sound they frequently lose bits. This is probably one of those bits. Everything to do with speed if it's from an aircraft, which it probably is. Got it now?

    It was from a satellite.

Space junk so called is usually bits that have fallen off aircraft exceeding the speed of sound.

Space Junk is satellites and parts that have entered into earths atmosphere, no longer able to stay up there working. When they enter the atmosphere, they come burning down to earth. Nothing to do with the speed.

Why anyone would want unknown foreign objects that may be radioactive and which have been exposed to "space" is  puzzling.

Andromeda Strain. Learn it. Live it.

Space is not radioactive. Once a metal is separated from any possible radioactive power source, (old ones are not powered that way), anything would burn off on reentry.

  7. Wednesday some space junk landed in Tambon Na Pho Klang in Ubon Ratchathani’s Khong Chiam and surrounding areas. If anyone knows someone there, I'd like to buy some of the junk. Finders fee paid as well.

    Thanks heaps!

So you didn't want to pay the inspector what he was charging to do the job and you paid someone far less to do it and now the inspector is getting pay back.
Seems to me the only one being cheap here is you and now your paying for it.

Typical u try to blame the builder for your rookie mistakes.
Also out of interest did u tell the builder that you were requesting a 50/100 system before he installed the 15/45 system. Considering the 15/45 is the one that's fitted in most houses in Thailand and would have been standard practice for the builder unless you specifically asked for it and had it specified on your scope of works then the mistake is yours not his and it has nothing to do with him being cheap and more to do with you being ignorant of Thai systems.

Sounds like you are buddies with the builder. Go figure.

We have 16 gauge to the meter and 16 gauge to the house. House was built a few months ago and all passed no problem by PEA.

friends house was built 2 years ago

16 gauge everywhere all passed by PEA.

just called two electricians and both say 16 gauge is fine and is fully acceptable by the PEA.

maybe you did something to annoy your PEA inspector ??

You really think a builder will fit incorrect cable knowing that you won't get a supply with it?

he wouldn't be in business very long.

We annoyed the PEA inspector first off, when he wanted 40,000 THB to drop in 4 electric poles. We got a local contractor to do it for 6,000.

The builder would do anything to save a Baht. Cheap cheap cheap.

THW in conduit underground is a no no, not rated for wet environments.

NYY is insulated and sheathed and rated for wet environments, Thai Yazaki do it in the smaller sizes (25mm2 is "small").

Do as PEA request or you won't get your permanent supply.

What size meter do you have (or have ordered)? 15/45 or 30/100

We ordered a 30/100.  I can see the  need for NYY, being underground. Trying to justify 25mm2, as the builder will try to give an excuse as to why it is not really needed. Thanks!

  11. I am in Phimai, where the rules seem to be different, but not sure.

My house is 45 meters from the pole. PEA drops 16 gauge to the meter.

We ran 16 gauge , Not NYY, (can't remember the name,, ends in a W) underground in yellow PVC to the panel inside the house.

PEA today said they want NYY and 25 gauge wire. Which to me makes no sense. I can see NYY, but not the 25 gauge..

What are the requirements that Thailand came up with last December?

Thanks very much for any help

  12. I smoked for 30 years, and have quit 20 years ago. I had tried the patch, the gum, the patch and the gum together, cold turkey, and hypnotism (total BS).
I was having some acupuncture done on my back in the US, and my doctor mentioned he did a smoking cessation clinic as well.

I went on neurontin slow release for two weeks to help with the urges. I made an effort to slow down at least. I was a pack a day since I was 14. After two weeks, I had gone to 15 butts a day.

The doctor then put 3 very small patches in one ear. Each patch had a small pin. I was to press on the patch whenever I felt the urge to smoke. When I walked out of the office, I knew then I would never smoke again. I continued with the patches in my ears for another 4 weeks, as well as the neurontin. I also changed my habits of when I smoked. After a meal, I would take a walk instead of sitting and smoking. Change all your routines of when you smoke.

I stopped the patch and the meds after 4 weeks, and never looked back. The cravings were gone after a year or so.

I highly recommend the combined meds plus acupuncture. It made it easy, really. Good luck!

Better that he alternative Hilary, that's why Trump won.

All CNN are going on about all day is Trumps son, what about Hilary and the campaign money she got from selling guns to many countries?

Time the US had a new constitution, well out of date, esp that STUPID right to bear arms, why nonsense.

Every President climbs in the deep pockets of the arms manufactures, not just Hilliary. I agree 100% that it is time to get rid of the guns. It made me sad to return to Thailand after many years gone that they now can own guns. I hope they can do better than the US has done.
