Looks like the C virus created an excellent opportunity for profit taking. Look how far above the 200 day moving average the S&P has been trading, a correction was past due. But there have also been early warnings of recession in the bond markets.

Some serious comments from Warren Buffet from May 2019 about the US economy like him or not he's smarter than us when it comes to the US economy and takes a very long view.

"Buffett highlights that unemployment remains so low, yet interest rates and inflation are not rising. At the same time the U.S. government continues to spend more money than it takes in.

These conditions are not sustainable for the long term, Buffett says.

"No economics textbook I know that was written in the first couple of thousand years that discussed even the possibility that you could have this sort of situation continue and have all variables stay more or less the same," he says."

Most leading economists have been predicting a recession. This may be a beginning.

I speak only a few Thai words but I agree with the sign.

Only because I have witnessed too many Falang get upset or even yell at staff at various places because they cannot understand English.  Calling them stupid and the such.

It can be frustrating but not really their fault. Blame the government for not making them learn English in school.

If you want good English interaction with mostly polite people, go to the Philippines 90% there speak.

It is indeed the government's fault. I live in rural Thailand. Several years back one of my Thai nieces came to me for help. It came out that her English teacher could not speak English so there was no conversational English happening in class. When I offered to help I was officially rejected.

  3. I do not like Buttigieg's platform. I like the man and think he would do well in a cabinet post for a Sander's presidency.

However, I will support any candidate the Democrats nominate.

While I do note that the DOW is climbing and unemployment is down it is important to point out that a rising DOW primarily benefits about 10% of the populace. And most new jobs are low wage service jobs. Wages are rising at a rate not covering inflation of the past 10 years or so. But, corporate profits are rising at unprecedented rates with CEOs pay rising.

Time for a president who cares about a functioning middle class and taking care of the poorer among us.

  4. I have a little over 500,000 in bank for way more than 3 years. I have a monthly income of over 100,000 THB for even longer than that .

My last visa and going back many years have been a retirement visa,

Last year I renewed my retirement visa with about 1,000,000 in the bank.

However, over the course of the year I had several health issues come up so my bank account has dwindled.
Therefore, I decided to switch to a marriage visa this Jan when my retirement visa expires.

Anyone know if this is going to be a problem or not?

  5. I will go against the wife and offer to take the white one. We have 4 now but have the room to take another. If you are willing to bring it to Kamphaeng Phet I will fight with my wife on its' behalf. All kittens deserve a loving home.

i had a valve replaced in india 10 years ago.  at the time the entire package (valve, operation, meds, 1 week hospital, 1`week beach resort, RT flight) was about $12k, or less than 10% the cost in a us hospital.

at the time the same model valve alone cost over $10k in the usa.  put the whole thing on a credit card, then transferred to a 0% credit card offer to delay paying immediately.

i believe a stent install should be considerably less expensive, probably less than $5k.

However, then there is cost of airfare, hotels etc.

May I kindly suggest you get a second opinion and complete additional medical research.

Note:  In new literature, in certain cardiac situations, it has been found medication as a solution is just as effective as a

surgical procedure.   My grandfather was a surgeon at the Cleveland Clinic -- he always suggested getting a second

opinion without initially advising the consulting MD of the result of the first opinion.  You may feel more confident moving

forward if you have additional information.  You may also seek cardiac professionals with a background in management of cardiac issues

using medication-- good luck; however, I urge you, if possible, to investigate options before rushing into a surgical solution which may carry

more risks than management of certain cardiac conditions via medication.

I actually have the opinion of 3 intervention cardiologists. Until now meds have worked but my condition is worsening. But thanks for your input

  8. I currently have 500000 THB in my account for way more than required time.
In Jan 2020 I plan to convert my retirement visa to a marriage visa.

However, I now require the insertion of a cardiac stent and I may not be able to wait until Jan.

If I get it sooner I will go under the required 400000 THB required.

Do you think that immigration might cut me some slack given the circumstances?
