there's signs on the walls at the border which the IO's will gladly point out. within the law, i have no idea but arguing over a few hundred baht just for them to turn around and say you can't go back isn't worth it to most people.

Sent from my iPhone using Thaivisa Connecti am sure they know exactly why they are doing it. also, maybe they are not retired so why would they want a retirement visa? there's thousands of reasons for people to be here. not everyone in thailand is retired and neither is every member of this forum believe it or not. . . . .

oh. you went to Poipet. that was your only problem then.
they don't want anyone border hopping there whatever visa or however many land crossing exempt.
Poipet have made it pretty clear they'll make it as hard as possible for anyone to border hop there.
You may have had to pay a small fee to come back same day at another border with no issues but Poipet is a law unto it self and it has been advised for a long time to just avoid the place all together if possible.

Just now, TonyBkk007 said:u mean i can bribe the thai officers at the border ?
some guy said they ask for 10K...normally the thais are fine to let you out and back in but the cambodian officers usually take the bribe to go back. usually just 200 baht or so. always safer to do a border bounce with a visa run company as they'll have all that sorted and can take out the hassle

the stay one night rule is correct and has been like that for sometime.
it's usually waived for a couple of hundred baht.
it had nothing to do with the visa you have.

will be no problem to come in again by land. they may mark a 2 in a circle next to the stamp but that's all. you won't be able to do another one (by land) until the new year.
you could get a tourist visa in vientienne since you'll be there anyway but depends how long you plan on being in thailand as to whether it's worth it

Thanks.
So I get in, marry, then go and get my 60 day extension with i assume marriage cert and birth cert for my son ? Any proof of income involved ?
no proof of income and you wouldn't need a marriage cert as you would be applying as a parent of a thai

But I suppose better I just get married, do the non o in Laos. I just need to get in more time basically.
as aljaviero pointed out you can get non o based on being a parent

might be worth noting that you can get extensions for 60 days instead of 30 as you have a kid

A 30 million baht McLaren 720s has a base price of $288,000 USD, or 9,300,000 baht.
The rest (20,700,000 baht) must be import fees, duty and taxes?
yes taxes. now do it in UKGBP to Thai baht since the car comes from england ; )

Of course it’s an option if you accept the potential consequences. That is they debate.
to most sane people that would not be a debate. also no phones in jails here inc idc unless you pay extra for the service

who can really say the superwrecks were actually speeding 'that' much?
the footage was from some old plastic car with fluffy doll on dashboard fishbowl plastic cam
and all the other traffic was travelling quicker than the cam car dawdling along in the Right lane...
id' be awaiting a Police forensic exam on what the speed was?... otherwise the Insurers will have a field day with retractions - based upon guestimations alone!
it's a mclaren. doesn't work the same way as it does with my honda. the mclaren driver did nothing wrong. they'll fix it

Why does it have to be a taboo? While not a wise option, It is a fact that many people will actually consider this, calculate their risks, pro and con, make assumptions, and decide. This is a reality. It is what gets the overstayers to be in this situation in the first place. So I think we should not ridicule people who voice this kind of suggestion, but rather debate with them.
you already said it. it was an option years ago but now incurs bans. so not an option. whats to debate?

If the McLaren driver had been competent he would have seen the impending rear end knock and moved forward a few feet (he had the space) to avoid it. Complete lack of situational awareness.
the pick up drove into him. the mclaren was already at standstill?

Too bad the McLaren and Benz didn't collided, totaling each other ? That could have been the most expensive accident between 2 cars in Thailand
to me is a no post. the mclaren had good brakes and so did the merc which sounded grunty so may be a good one, mercs have made some decent motors lately. just the breaks on his pick up were not up to task. that is all

At Immigration do I just ask for a 60 day extension for having a Thai child? and what do I have to show them? (birth certificate and court order)
uj is your man for that stuff. but yes 60 days should be fine and he'll let you know what to bring

Sorry .. I was only joking ... I love the way Brits use the “ init” after a statement. I have not met anyone from the UK in my travels on Thailand that was badly behaved, or putting themselves in danger . On the other hand , I’ve had money stolen, medical emergencies , and many close shaves with unscrupulous Thai taxi drivers over the years...but of course I’m Irish... trouble ! LOL !
init is a southern thing as i am sure you know. isn't it. the same way the yanks use yes at the end of a sentence whilst selling you something. it's actually a mind game. you don't say no so you agree. init. old trick
the thais. chai mai. same shit

Maybe a visit to Top Charoen Optical is in order....
It's not just one panel, but 3 - at least there are 3 visible ones - there could well be further damage behind those panels.
The massive rear quarter panel is creased above the wheel arch, the wrap around rear panel is damaged and appears that the aluminium has actually fractured at the rear edge, and the black rear valance also appears to have fractured to left of the rear light. Insurance companies don't usually assess on the basis of repairing damaged panels, or replacing with s\h parts but will assess on the cost of replacing any damaged parts with new ones. I'd take a guess that the huge rear quarter panel alone wound be £10 - £15k plus fitting and paint. This is easily going to be a 3M Baht bill.
as mentioned earlier i think if bought legally mclaren will send people to fix it with the parts. that's no shitty car. thats proper.
there is one car on the market right now that would be a thai dream. just can't get any better

back packers have been doing it for decades and it isn't evading the regs if you stay within the regulations. not sure what the 2 people you know at Honda has to do with anything as they will most likely have extensions based on work. irrelevant
