  1. Personally I see having the yellow book and pink card is a good idea. Don't need my passport and my observation is when asked for PP or ID, they see the card and know I live here. To each his own..
  2. We are here as well for the last chapter. 43 yrs oilfield I have seen my share of bar stools and rent a bride options.. Wife wanted to stay Chiangmai, her home town...too smoky and too hot for too much of the year, much like Houston Tx..Just too damn hot. We ended up in Bang Saray, couple clicks from the sea, on a hill behind a mountain. A Navyhouse Moo Baan, very secure....some X-pats and mostly retired Thai Navy. Big C and Makro shopping within 15 minutes. Need infusion of western stuff, 30 minutes toll rd and we in Pattaya. 2 hrs to BKK. Yes Thailand has evolved a lot in last 50 yrs and we where we need to be.
  3. hydrogen peroxide diluted with water is stated to be helpful if root rot is a problem. lot of info on net about this...peroxide kills the bacteria around roots...
  4. looking for someone in Sattahip that does this...
  5. Bought a 2019 Blazer here when we arrived, what you looking at 2.5 liter duramax? Yes Chevy left Thailand but parts are not and issue, MG took over the dealership in Rayong and they've done good work. Also once its out of warranty find a decent mechanic and rock on... FYI had zero trouble from my Chevy here. Suspect you will be happy with a used Chevy here. They pretty solid vehicles.. Oh yea this from someone who drove Toyota's for 40 yrs in USA...
  6. FYI..took glucosamine for 20 yrs, been taking astaxanthin 12 mg for last 10 yrs very big improvement in joint pain and mobility... Available Lazada not cheap but about same price as USA...
  7. True internet and Nord VPN, so far no issues 3 yrs..
  8. That is just very sad, hope they get the little girl to a safe home...
  9. Got a friend here whose been here decades, he is also over 70. He has had multiple medical insurance policies here over the years and the 2 times he had a serious problem they some how managed to pull the pre-existing condition card on both occasions and denied his claims. These were not cheap policies. Personally I will self insure as I have high BP, heart stint, lower back and knees, hips are a medical disaster. Partner my whole body is a pre-existing condition...555 I did get the BKK Bank accidental death/accident policy for around 5500 Baht a year that renews till I reach 100... Yea right, will be happy to make 70 here in a few months. If the $hit hits the fan we do have access to 100K US if needed. But what I have observed if the insurance is legit, most likely you can't afford it....
  10. For Jomtien, mornings are OK, right after lunch at 1300 is bad...Tuesday Wednesday and Thursdays are always best, but did my 90 day today Monday at 0845, hand ladies (sits outside under tent to right as you headed in. Big sign says 90 day reporting.....they check PP, take it and give U a number, they tell you 40 minutes but it was more like 15 and I was gone.. Yea need to start on line but easy drive and fun to watch the circus....
  11. Worth looking at LP gas/propane, both diesel and petrol can go bad and cause issues with starting and running and maintenance, LP does not have that problem and carburetor stays clean, also oil stays clean longer. Had a 20KW in USA run from natural gas, in 10 years had no issues, also had a 200 amp transfer panel. Still looking for one here 5 to 6 KW duel fuel but in Sattahip we have not had a lot of issues with power. Back up generator is on the wish list here...
