  1. I received my 0-A, multiple entry retirement visa on Sept. 1st, 2009 from the USA. I left Bangkok on April 16th, 2010 and will arrive back in BKK on Aug. 26th, 2010. I understand I can use this same visa for 12 months this year, doing the usual 90 day address reporting. What is my next step to keep this retirement visa active for 2011 and beyond? What steps do I need to do when I get to BKK in August this year?

  2. If your Non O-A visa is multiple entry, you will get new 12 month permission to stay stamp on each entry whilst the visa is valid. So you would have to re-enter the Kingdom just before your visa expires (not permission to stay date) to obtain Year 2 permission to stay. Remember that if travelling abroad in Year 2 you would require a re-entry permit to keep your permission to stay alive.

It's a Multiple Entry. Okay, the visa is stamped and says: "this visa must be utilized before Aug. 31 2010". So, I need to arrive back in BKK lets say, Aug. 30th, 2010, correct?

  3. Hello,

Sometimes I get so confused on when and where I need to do border runs. Need some help please.

I'll apply for a 3 entry Tourist Visa before I leave the US through the Thai Consulate in Texas.

If I leave the USA October 31st this year, do I do a border run January 1st? Then another March 2010?

I want to fly back home at the end of April. Also, would it be better to book a r/t ticket?

    Thanks!

  4. Do you have 65k per month pension/income? If so you can obtain retirement extension of stay in Thailand at Immigration very easily. The 800k requires 3 months in a Thai bank account so might not fit your plans.

Another option is to obtain a retirement OA multi entry visa in the US using medical/police report and bank account of 800k there. This would allow you a one year stay on any entry during the first year of validity and an entry near the end of that year would provide almost another year stay before you have to start the extension of stay process at Immigration.

    Thanks Lopburi3 for your comments.

I don't have 65k per month income, yet. That's a couple years away.

Seems to me the OA visa is the way to go. Now, if I get this before I leave in December, I'll have no problem leaving in June and coming back to Thailand in early September next year?

Can I get the OA extension while I'm in BKK in December 2009?

With the OA visa, do I have to do any "visa runs"?

    Thanks!

  5. Hi,

First, I'm over 50 and can deposit 800,000 THB in a Thai bank. My concern is what Visa do I apply for given my time in Thailand?

My plan now is leave the USA in late December and spend 5 months in Thailand and fly back home for 3 months. Come back to BKK and spend 9 months there and 3 months, June July August, in the USA the following year.

I prefer not go through all the "visa runs", if possible.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks!

Hello, I am applying for a tourist visa, and I have a round trip ticket booked to stay in Thailand for 6 months. Just wondering about something on the application for my tourist visa. First, what should I put for length of stay? Should I put 60 days, the length of the visa they give, or should I put 6 months, my actual time I plan on staying? Also, how many re-entries should I request? (I am already aware of the process of extentions and border runs, just need help with the application)

    Thanks for the help!

    Hi,

I went through this last year. I'm from the USA and wanted to stay 6 months in BKK. All you need to do is fill out the Visa Ap and put 3 entries, $30 per entry and its good for 6 months and NO border runs needed. I sent all my info to the Thai Consulate in Houston.

The whole process took 2 days via fed-ex. My visa stamp was valid for those 6 months.

    Its easy, quick, painless!

I plan on retiring in Thailand end of next year and I'll do this process every year. No need for the retirement visa and deposit money in some Thai bank making little or no interest.

    Take care

A 2+ entry tourist visa would be "good" for six months in that you must utilize the first entry within six months. There would still be a requirement after the first 60 days to apply for a 30 day extension in country and after that you would be required to do a border run (leave the country even if re-entry is the same day). I would be interested to hear how you stayed in the country for 6 months continuously without a border run on a tourist visa?

Think he meant that his tourist visa was valid for entry into Thailand for 6 months.

Visas are often issued in the form of a stamp, they are not always printed then stuck into your passport.

You're right. The tourist visa was stamped in my passport by the Royal Thai Consulate-General ; Houston, Texas. Date stamped was Dec. 04, 2007 valid thru June 03, 2008.

Still confused. Houston gave you three entries but you said you never had to leave BKK and yet you stayed for six months. How can that be?

It's quite simple and I did stay in Thailand for 160 days without doing a border run. When I applied for my visa, I put on my application my return flight info and checked "number of entries requested, 3" and checked "Tourist Visa". I'm reading this now, as it states in the "Requirements for obtaining Thai visas: Multiple entry visa is valid for 6 months-$30 per entry-maximum 3 entries". When I arrived at Suvarnabhumi airport the immigration officer stamped in my passport the "admitted until...20 May 2008" stamp with 3 red initials. When I left BKK no problems getting on the plane to come home. My visa was stamped in my passport; i did not have a separate page stapled in it.

  9. Tony, I'm from the US and I got a 6 month visa late last year. Cost was $30 per entry, maximum 3 entries, 60 day per entry incl. Next Day Fed Ex ( $60.00 ) total was $150.00. On the Visa ap. check "tourist visa" and the number of entries requested, put 3. I sent the passport, etc. to the Royal Thai Consulate in Houston. Took all of 2 days. I thought about moving to Thailand, but since its so easy and cheap to go the 6 month route, thats my plan.

    Good luck,

    Jerry

  10. wee bit more dangerous though :o more partners more chance of catching something

Yay, someone paid attention to the health indicators. Multiple partners = greater likelihood of an STI and complications.

If you need a bigger incentive, the last guy you want swabbing your willy is my dawg Toby. He thinks he's scraping barnacles off of a keel.

    Follow your heart, mister.

Gabriel, I also say, follow your heart. The whole deal is a gamble (maybe a gambol). Percentages this, percentages that. Give it go. If it doesn't work in the long term, so what. Nobody died! Seems to me there's more +'s than -'s in this particular instance.

Choc dee to you and your bf, mai pen rai the rest:wai:

    krobbie

I have to follow my heart and of course, my gut feelings and past experiences. The first time I met my bf, I knew he was different. For a 26 year old, he acts and thinks much older than that number. He has goals and plans to accomplish those. I didn't at that age! Is it a "gamble"? Who knows at this point. I'm not going to "burn any bridges" and I can always come back to the States if things don't work out. But, I know living together is what we have to do for this relationship to work. I'm not good at being single and casual sex never appealed to me. Well, 2 months and counting and then we'll both be together in Bangkok. God, I wish Dec. 17th was tomorrow!
