Pattaya Beach Swarms with Tourists; Locals Voice Concerns
dallen52 replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
There's no money in building new roads. Or beach front stabilisation. The real money is in doing a s*ht job and the continuing maintenance year after year. Plus the infamous envelopes. -
New Thai Police Chief Sets Bold Crime-Fighting Agenda
dallen52 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I can't believe they can be so straight faced when making these announcements... Over 250,000 active police members. You can drive 500km and not see one officer. Try to lodge a complaint and it's too hard. Try to get an officer to attend after hours. Too hard. Zero effort to increase bike rider safety. Minimum focus on road traffic violations. Plenty of focus on tea money still.- 37 replies

Southern Thai man finally receives 10,000 baht government aid
dallen52 replied to snoop1130's topic in Southern Thailand News
I know more people here in Issan that didn't get it, than those that did. Prominent excuse is not registered with the bank for government pay id. And suggestions that will receive in the next round. (If that eventuates) My partner didn't get. Her sister did get. Same house, same circumstances. And again the stories of quite well off people receiving it. -

Thai teacher accused of striking boy’s penis with steel ruler
dallen52 replied to snoop1130's topic in Eastern Thailand News
Its part of a bigger unregulated and unreported (almost systemic) issue in LOS. Teachers administer punishment. Cut students hair in junior school. Take monetary gain. Pay for positions to increase employee prospects in the future. Especially with universities. Teachers having money boxes on thier desks that have to be fed if you want pass grades. Getting students to work for free in thier private businesses. Police don't respond or accept complaint reports. Under qualified medical staff in hospitals. Escapees from conscription that they never bother to capture. And so it goes on and on... Anyone whose lived here long time has witnessed or heard about many occurrences like these. TIT... -
Thai Police to Crack Down on Crime During New Year Festivities
dallen52 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
What's different about the time of year? Over 250,000 active police members in Thailand. Surely they should be doing this every day? -
5% of CNG Buses Fail Safety Checks After Fatal Fire in Thailand
dallen52 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
How many actually fail DLT tests? Come on let's get serious. Its already been said that an amount of the folding stuff will jump the queues and get the stamp of approval. Every vehicle licence number should be publicly available like in the UK, and you can see the roadworthy and repair history. -
Suspension of TM6 Arrival Form Extended to Boost Tourism
dallen52 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Chong chom several weeks ago. The walk out, stamp into Cambodia and walk out, back into Thailand with another 60 days. (Plus TM6) -
You see several bus companies with what can only be described as ticking time bombs. Doing the long haul routes in Thailand. The flying coffins (white mini vans) seem to have improved. But some of the high VIP double deck ones should be condemned. Reform is long overdue.

Suspension of TM6 Arrival Form Extended to Boost Tourism
dallen52 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
But if you do a land crossing the TM6 is still given to you. -
We're talking about the land of $miles. Anything is possible for the right price. Just see how easy it is to get old smokers and rust buckets through DLT inspections. And other people getting driving licences / visas etc on your behalf. For the price of a bar fine/short time, you get unroadworthy death traps certified as ok to use.

It has to be the biggest brothel in the world. Having just spent several weeks there is out of control dangerous. You don't see a police presence unless its tea money time. Businesses pay protection money. Underage is a massive problem. Girls and the like physically trying to pull you into places. Overpriced services. Still has flooding and sanitation issues. Traffic and enforcement are a joke. Sure there's some reasonable entertainment venues, many with variable prices. Local/Tourist. Begging is only a pimple compared to the rest of the problems.

Vaping troubles: British tourists warned of costly holiday mistake
dallen52 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Like many other things thai, it doesn't seem to apply to teens in the local villages. Openly vaping. Or the sales of the rubbish they happily inhale.
