Today I could not think of a place that would be an alternative to Thailand. However in 5 to 10 yrs I see Vietnam and even Cambodia as they are catching up fast.

Time to change passports. A passport full is visas and stamps will put you under scrutiny. I made this mistake and had to bribe my way in. Now I change passports every other year.

For this amount you will be able to negotiate and get a better rate than the advertised ones.
This website gives you a list of most banks and exchange shops in one page.

Why don't you spend a little time in Vientiane and apply for a single entry tourist visa at the consular section of the embassy there.
I get 90 days on a visa exempt entry, if I get a simgle entry visa it would not only cost more I would also get only 60 days
Thank you all for your replies

Yes I will have the 20k and ticket out. I am thinking about just flying to Vietnanne and cross the border at Nong Khai and fly back to bkk from Udon Thani.
Is Nong Khai a good choice for visa exempt?
I really want to avoid the mini van death rides so I prefer to fly and cross by land

I will not have a visa, just the visa exempt entry. I will look into the Ban Laem. Thank you all for the replies.

I haven't done a land border crossing in 3+ yrs. I have to fly to Phonn Phenn then I am planning to take a bus to poipet and do a visa stamp at the border.
What sort of things they might ask? 20k baht I will have w me already and a ticket out.
I got stopped at the airport in 2016 for too many visas. I am kind of worried about doing the crossing at this border since I read it is not the best one but since I have to go to PP this is the closest to bkk.
Anyone has experience doing in/out at this border?

I am going to sign up with Pacific Cross. Does anyone have any experiences with this insurance company?

Thank you. I will go through those names. LUMA is also expensive, they quoted me 70,000 baht a year.

Hello,
I am looking for a good health insurance plan, I used to have Bupa Platinum but they were sold to Aetna. I am back in Thailand now and I noticed the premiums went up dramatically.
Can anyone recommend a good company and policy?

Thanks...that's very interesting information.
Have you actually wired funds out of Cambodia?
Yes. You just go to the branch and request it. Now I have this card with codes on it from ABA bank so I just do from my computer.
I did a wire w Canadia, cheaper than ABA in terms of fees.
I do everyday banking w Canadia, and ABA I use for wire transfers when I am not in Cambodia. They both also have phone apps to check balances and do some transfers.

I have savings account in Cambodia, some pay as high as 8% a year for a 3 yr CD in Riel, in USD is slightly less maybe 7%.
Exchange rates in Cambodia are great, way better than Thailand. Most places you can exchange at the spot price w no markups.
You can open accounts at Canadia Bank, Cambodia Post Bank, ABA bank and Sacombank w a tourist visa. I did about 1 yr ago.
ABA and Canadia are partly owned and 1 of them is 100% owned by Canadians.
There is another bank that you can have an account in Euros as well but I can't recall the name.
Most expats bank w ABA or ANZ but ANZ requires a work permit.
I like ABA because you can bank online and wire funds from your computer at home, no need to go to branch. *you need to order a card that gives you codes to do wire from home.
Another thing I like is that you can wire funds out of Cambodia without all the hassle the Thais give you here.

The OP asked for ANY in the country. Since he has a car he can just to go ANY.
Let him deal with distance issues.
I also would like to know which is the easiest least hassle border entry in the whole country.

Ok great responses. So no name and no photo.
Can I put a link to an external site outside of thailand like YouTube or Facebook with the name and photo?
This women Chinese national who lives in Pattaya targets only foreigners and I am afraid there are quite a few.

So I was scammed by a foreigner living in Thailand and I would like to share my story and name the person so people are aware and dont fall victims.
Specific question is
Can I name him here at Thaivisa.com forum?
I do not mind getting sued in civil court for libel.

Transferwise offers outbound transfers from Thailand now? As far as I know they only do inbound.

I got into this same problem once before. The supervisor told me once you get flagged I would always have a problem coming in.
U will get stuck outside thailand at some point if u keep doing visa runs.
I had to get an elite visa to stay, cost me a lot and I was upset I had to spend so much but now no worries.

Yes, u can do the extension and u can take another flight out.
Usually they ask u for 20k baht if something came up on their system when they entered your passport number.
Also making you purchase an outgoing ticket before they let u through is a first I hear about.
If they entered any information in the computer under your passport or it came up when u went thru immigration you will have problems again for sure.
Does sound like you had previous entries into the country for them to make you purchase a ticket and show money.
This doesn't usually happen on a first time visit

I had a thai gf once and after me leaving to Europe she came up w the being pregnant lie. Boy did I have a hard time and after all it was a lie so I don't get away from her.
I am pretty sure she is not prego if u always used condoms. U must be going crazy over there but I tell you just relax. She is most likely not prego

I am not sure the reason you decided to opt for a business visa when one can easily live there with tourist visas but I suggest you look for ho chi minh expats group on Facebook and ask this question there.
I was going to apply for a business visa but when I found out I could just do visa runs every 3 months for a lot less so I went w this option.
The business visa allows you to stay for 1 yr. You don't have a work permit so I doubt you would need to pay any kind of taxes.

You can go to Bali and get another tourist visa but getting a visa there and being allowed entry at the airport are 2 very different things. You got the red stamp so you are toast w any future entries.
Either get an Ed visa or go home for 6 months. Once you get the ed visa dont go out of the country for at least a yr.
-
Why would u want to take a risk? Of course change the passport.

I nearly got refused entry before and the supervisor in charge of immigration at the airport told me I should go back to my country at some point.
He told me if I never go back they think I might have done something illegal and I am a fugitive. His words.

Bus or minivan to Ban Laem??
in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits

I need to go to Ban Laem for a visa run. I want to do it solo this time (no visa run company). Does anyone know where I can catch a bus to Ban Laem? I was searching the forum and someone mentioned there is no bus to Ban Laem. I would have to go to Chanthaburi and catch a mini van from there.
