  1. I switched to prepaid sometime back and never recharge more then 50 THB at a time that is usually once a month.

For calls it's only via Line, Wassup, Viber or via Facebook Messenger or e-mail.  When there is only 1 THB credit left with True, by some divine miracle those annoying paid scam SMS just stop. Also activated the wifi calls and desactivated data roaming. Never doI  give out the local Thai number to deliveries. Only give then the foreign GSM number if they insist and claim not having Line or Wassup.

shoes or a washing machine outside ..

    behind outdoor cushions

    air vents

    the toilet apparently ?

    ...what else...?

And have heard of specific products that can be sprayed around the house to keep them at bay ? any ideas ?

A bit surprised that Taiwan wasn't already on the list. They have a pretty good purchasing power.

41,000 baht per head in a week for Indian tourists seem exagerated. I got the feeling they were the biggest bargainers of all tourists although a few of them have good money.

Still waiting to have the same consideration as Russian tourists in Thailand.

Just did my visa extension in Philippines. Best service I've ever had in an immigration office. I spent only 15 minutes with just my passport and a paper and even received smiles. I was shocked as I got used to spend an awful day at the immigration office in Bangkok to get an extra 30 days.

I have often seen in life,  the richer people are, the more they usually bargain and do not pay up blindly. Same for looks an appearance. The super top rich are usually discreet, dressed sometimes as paupers and do not exhibit the apparel of the yuppie upstart types, living mostly on debt and flaunting possessions in public or social media.

India has many very wealthy people who love to come to Thailand. All depends in which circles one evolves. Obviously if one goes to the lower budget and standing venues around Nana or Walking St - Beach Road in Pattaya,  one would mainly bump into the specific patrons within that social range and from any country.

if one moves in higher social circles, one obviously bumps into people in that social level from all nataions. Simple.

  4. If OP has doubts, plainly use the settings feature of your Thai bank account and put 0 on the different variations of payments/transfers from your account. Of course, a bit of a burden as each time you would need to use, you will have to reset the numbers to let the payment go through.

If it's a foreign bank account, once you have given all the details and got your visa, just change the account number with your bank and mention it's for safety reasons.

I bet some plantations are really large.  How many kg is an average fruit?  Wiki says 10 kg , so 50 baht each grab 6-7 and easy day at work.  I feel for the farmers.  My first thought was using a  nightscope like they use on hogs in Texas.

Fully agree with You. One could  even give a closer look at affordable CCTV systems that detect any movement. Modern tech is accessible to all and perhaps the authorities should subsidise security for the farmers...and also provide more environmental alternatives to dissuade crop burning festivities !!!

  6. For god's sake...just leave all the "entertainement" animals of Thailand in peace and stop riding them as if it was  a Rodeo ....stop encouraging such trades that are harming other living creatures. You love animals ? Fine then give rather a donation to any animal shelter camp and get a selfie next to the animal with no physical contact - this shoud be enough to post and brag on the FB page, right ?

  7. Call customer support of True, they could of course look in the matter. But I would first check with the bank or company overseas as had similar issues last month and it was the online retail seller (who's name starts with a big A !!)  that was at fault. Keep in mind also that Apple or ios app developpers seem to be doing almost daily security updates on many apps, on all the iOs etc.......so it also could be due to that. Looks that cybercriminals are trying to penetrate the iOs  or OsX when one sees so many daily updates on the iphone ? But then I am no specialist...just wondering what's goin on. Good Luck.

  8. Every girlie will love it and want to do the usual romantic-dinner-river cruise that is usually the perfect tourist trap. But to please those ladies and to see them thank us later back home or in the hotel, we would go to any extent, no matter how boring it may be !! 🤣

  9. A good lesson for the Korean immigration brutes who were thinking no end of themselves and discriminating Thai's.

A "funny" thing in life is that it is usually those who are discriminated or shunned who tend to take it out on others once they are back home. Thai immigration should learn to be more neutral and helpful towards foreigners in Thailand. If not the quality foreigners in Thailand who are the expats, retirees who bring in good money will also just leave to more foreigner friendly countries all over Asia or India.

Yes, every Hotel/guesthouse is required by Thai law to notify local Immigration that a foreigner is staying at their premises.

That's why they ask for your passport, so that they can take over the required data and file that required TM-30 notification on-line.

And on simple request the Hotel/guesthouse will provide you with a copy of that TM-30 notification which they made.

    = = =

Note that it is always a good idea to also take the small business-card which most Hotels have, that contains their address and contact-info, and keep that card in your wallet. Can be handy when the taxi-driver doesn't speak english or doesn't know the Hotel/guesthouse you want to return.  And of course in this case, when there would be a problem with the TM-30 notification, the Imm Office would be able to contact the Hotel/guesthouse.

good points  - thank you for your recommendations.
