This appears to imply, however, that there may be other land immigration checkpoints in addition to these 8 at which the TM6 requirement will not be relaxed!
Two come to mind immediately that I use: Chiang Khong & Chong Mek.

Why do some people go back for a new visa each year as opposed to extending the existing one in Thailand? Can't this one be extended at a local office for another year? Also, is the Kor Ror 22 interchangeable with the Kor Ror 2 as far as how they are used? Thanks!
That's a NO to extend at local Thai Immigration office.
I personally follow the Savanakhet route - with 400K I can invest that amount and make multiples more than approx 1% in a 'risky' ( IMHO ) Thai Bank for 1 year!

I found it was just a case of going Bank to Bank to Bank untill one of them said Yes!
As you mentioned I also took my Wife along and 1 Mill in cash!! Sure both of those helped my chances....- 1

Drove to Chong Mek Border with Laos this morning with the Thai wife.
We thought we would do something different and use her Thai Passport as she came for the bounce with me.
For me NO issues at all with the crossing into Laos, turn around and come back into Thailand.
On this occasion I took $US 40.00 ( 4 x Crisp & New $10 notes ) - Accepted at Laos and no more money requested anywhere.
As for the wife who usually pays the 20 Baht for a Border Pass on providing her Thai Passport at Laos Immigration Arrival desk she was asked for 100 x Thai Baht.
Everyone else was also paying 100 x Thai Baht - quite a 'rort' going on!!
OK lesson learnt - Next time Thai Border Pass 🙂
The Thai Immigration officer at Thai Arrival must have been his Birthday - He was smiling and told the 3 x Farang's in the queue as he dealt with them that "you can extend this Visa stamp at your local immigration office"!!
A great all around experience......

I think we all know about extensions, but there are probably many reasons why many folk take the trip to Sav.....😉
Exactly..... for me two main reasons...
1) I do not currently trust Thai banks & 2) There is SO Much more I can do and earn with 800K Thai Baht!!

Was travelling by Inter-City bus today from Udon Thani to Korat.
The bus made a planned stop at Khon Kaen new Bus Station for 20 minutes.
Whilst sitting on the bus, Immigration Police ( written on the back of their Jackets ) came on board the bus and came straight up to me, only ( the only Farang on the bus )
They asked where I was going and passport please...
Lucky I was carrying my Passport on this occasion and of course my Visa is 'Current'. 🙂
They took a photo 'Selfie' of them holding my Passport and left....
Just a cautionary tail - if you are travelling by Bus through Khon Kaen bus station - make sure you have your Passport on you and that you are 'Legal'!!

These girls are always very busy helping farangs complete the paperwork so i can't quite see how this appointment process is going to work in a timely manner.
Yep I only became aware of this during my visit earlier on this week, so it is new to me as well and I have not used it yet.
You make your booking Online, then when you arrive at Immigration you go straight to 'Window 3' the Right Hand Side window. The person at Window 3 checks your papers and when correct gives you your queue number to see Immigration Officer.
Where this system really helps is if there is a random turn up, you will get priority because of your booking time.
I would assume this way Immigration know how many planned people are coming in any one day and can plan for that!!
Who knows... If this is a trial and successful - it may become the only and new normal way to visit!

The below website is useful for booking appointment times Online and being seen in a timely manner at Korat Immigration.
>> https://outlook.office365.com/owa/calendar/[email protected]/bookings/
Works really smoothly and you will get Email confirmation from the office.
Hope this assists even one person...

I'm out of land crossings for 2023 but need one more stamp; my Thai visa expires Jan 1 2024. (The immigration police at Vientiane crossing reminded me before sending me back to Lao.) Is there an airport in Chiang Khong?
Thanks.
Is there a reason that you cannot do your Land Crossing on 01st Jan 2024?
No Airport at Chiang Khong.... I guess Chiang Rai would be the closest.

They have changed the rules on us again!
Went to do the usual 60 Day Extension based on Marriage this morning.
Now the Kor Ror 22 MUST be less than 365 days old or it will no longer be acceptable.
What this meant this morning was we have to nip to the Central Amphur and request a newly issued Kor Ror 22 for the princely sum of 20 Baht! ( 2 x signed copies provided )
Everything else stayed the same form wise.....
Trust this may assist even just one person :)

27 November I went there and they wanted 1,900 B or $50 US. for a U-turn stamp.
I negotiated and got it down to $40. US PLUS 200 B. Grift.
27th Nov 2023 was a Laos Holiday.
They do charge more at Weekends and on Thai \ Laos holiday days...

This morning at 09:30 made a Border Bounce at Chiang Khong.
It went fast very very fast - Over and Back in 35 minutes.
Plenty of Free parking on the left as soon as you enter the border area.
25 Baht for the One Way Bus ticket over to Laos side.
Bus was waiting and took off soon after boarding.
No queues at the Laos Visa on Arrival office.
Two forms to fill out an Arrival Card plus a 2nd Visa on Arrival form ( plus the usual form which I had pre-downloaded and filled out, the one with with your 1 x photo on )
The Laos officer asked my "how long you stay" I replied 10 minutes in Laos - he returned passport and pointed to the bus and said ""Buy Ticket"
Again the bus left very promptly.
No issues on arrival at Thai Immigration.
Stamped with another 30 day Thai stay.
Thanks to those that assisted my questions earlier about the $US fee.
$US 40= if crisp new notes was offered to the Laos office and taken with a smile.
All in all could not have been faster or easier.

I remember you need Crisp and Perfect $USD notes...
Not doing the E-Visa.... just want to pay $USD in Cash!

If now applying for the Visa based on being married to a Thai....
If now you HAVE to show 400K in a Thai Bank.....
What is the advantage today of going to Savannakhet? Why not just rock up at Thai Immigration as you still require 400K in the Thai Bank account??

Okay boyz and squirrellz
Just got confirmation from two different visa run companies who lug foreigners to Savannakhet for visas, that IF you want a year long, multi-entry Non-O visa based on marriage to a thai you DO need to show 400K baht in a thai bank account in your name only OR the equivalent in a foreign bank account. There is NO seasoning required on the funds, just has to show IN your account on the day you apply
They will only sell you a single if you don't have that.
That puts Savannakhet right on par with Penang in Malaysia (which requires 400K baht or the equivalent to issue the same visa). Any way you slice it, it's still a good way to get a year long, multi-entry Non-O visa based on marriage to a thai
AND
Just so everyone is clear, you CANNOT get a year-long, multi-entry Non-O based on raising thai children from Savannakhet, they do not issue it,On the above visa - do you still have to leave Thailand every 90 days?
-
Much appreciated if anyone that lives up there else someone that has recently tried crossing at the Mae Sai land border would provide recent update....

Hey, may I ask another question? Does this visa help me to open a Thai bank account or do I need some more documents?
It is all down to the luck of the draw. Not visa related in my experience.
Which bank... on which day... which staff member you get.Take your wife along, dress smart and smile a lot.....
-
Did exactly this a few months ago now at a Weekend.
They asked for 2,000 Baht.... ( Room for negotiation was not offered! )
Over and back within 40 minutes - No questions... -
Considering instead of Buying Brand New maybe purchasing a 'near new' car.... ( 12 - 24 months young ) most likely where the Finance company has Reclaimed.
Just where do they go for resale?
Driving around all the 2nd hand dealers have much older vehicles....
Any clues??? -

My non o based on marriage was issued vietnam in 2019.
During the covid era 2020 i was given a 60 day extension to visit wife once although I asked for it because no flights home.
It is in my old passport back in Thai house but immigration may/will have a record?
I have kept renewing my non O with annual extensions,
I will return using my re entry permit from Sweden in September
Can I get another 60 days so as to season funds for a retirement visa
I will have 2,3million in a thai bank but it will be 8 days short of the seasoning period for planned transition to retirement visa
Or am I better to apply for a 90 day tourist vis but I am not in my home country.
Doing a border bounce and letting extension die is the worst option for me due to mobility issues.
Any suggestions most welcome
I would enter Thailand ( from Sweden ) on Visa Waiver - 30 Days
Then go to Immigration within those first 30 Days and apply for 90 day Visa which will give you time to season funds.
Then in the last 30 Days go back to Immigration and get the one Year Non O Visa for 12 months.
60 Day Extension On Non O Visa
in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Posted
The price is 1,900 Baht at Immigration.
Perhaps a 'work around' is to leave Thailand via Land Border ( Laos or Cambodia ) and re-enter Visa Exempt.
That Visa Exempt can be extended ONCE for 30 days.
That would yield you 30 days + 30 days for a total of 60 Days.
