Visited Korat Immigration today to extend stay of visa - all went well 60 days issued.
However just taken a closer look at the Immigration stamp and now wondering if I have spotted a Typo and if anyone else has seen this before?
The last line "specified HERN in offenders will be prosecuted"
Perhaps it was supposed \ meant to say "Here In"?

Is any one aware of minimum night stays if passing from Thailand to Cambodia ( especially if all you want is a quick tuen around for a 45 day stamp coming back into Thailand )

That crossing is often referred to as the Hat Lek crossing.
The only fee should be for a visa on arrival for Cambodia.
Thnx UJ.

Considering using this Cambodian boder in the Trat province.
Has anyone any experience of using this border check point?
What is the border fee?
Are they Farang friendly?
Any 'extra' charges levied by staff?
Thanks in advance....

- Flew Oman Air from UK to Bangkok
- No request for proof at all of onwards travel was asked for at UK check in.
- Upon arrival at Swampy Immigration I was accompanied by Thai wife ( who took different inspector lane )
- I was asked how long I intend to stay - I replied 45 days ( and pointed over to where my wife was standing )
- I was then asked what were my plans after 45 days to which I replied go to immigration and extend based on marriage to a Thai
- No further questions and got a 45 day stamp ????
All too easy!

Awesome, many thanks as always. (just for any others interested, the online E-Visa for Laos must be done minimum 5 days in advance of travel, we ran out of time for that so it has to be visa on arrival for us)
All the best.
Jock
Would be really awesome to get a trip report from you after your return.
Especially costs \ transport options that you used to move around... Cheers -

Laos does not have border passes for a short stay for non Thai nationals. Thai's can get a 3 day border pass.
UJ are you saying that ALL Laos Visa's are issued for 30 day entries?

You visa apply for a visa on arrival for Laos when entering there. Cost is $40 for most nationalities.
Thanks UJ.
I probably should have mentioned that the reason for the 1 day Laos visit is to 'Do a border run and gain a 30 day stamp on Thai re-entry'.....

Last entered Laos Jan 2019 ( pre covid times ) via Chiang Khong ( 1 day visit visa )
Think I remember buying the 1 day visit visa at the Thai side of the Chiang khong land border ( friendship bridge 4 )
Is that still the correct way to go to access Laos from Chiand Khong?
I read here and Online about the Laos E-Visa, however these days Chinag Khong is NOT listed as an allowed port of entry for E-Visa!
Thanx in advance.....

It not based upon a passport. It is by your name.
Another problem is that you cannot swap passports at a border crossing. You have to use the same passport you used to depart Thailand to enter the other country and the same one when returning to here.
As usual - Many thanx UJ ????

Having two passports I'm now wondering if I can get 4 Border runs per calender year?
Is the number allowed of 2 x per year limited to just the Passport or the actual person?

You can make 2 visa exempt entry via land twice per calendar year and obtain 30 day extension to each entry
Many Thanks DJ

If one makes a border crossing say from Laos into Thaiiland and gets a 30 Day Visa Exempt entry....
Can that 30 Day Visa Exempt entry then be extended at Thai Imigration for another 30 days, just like an Intl. Airport Visa Exempt entry ?

I am aware of some airlines accepting a expired Thai passport.
But as I wrote before due to covid 19 she would not be able get a Thailand Pass and etc with a expired passport.
Embassies and official Thai consulates with issue emergency passport or a certificate of identity if the passport is expired. No long wait to get them like there is to get a new passport.
Back in June 2022, my Thai wife with an expired Thai passport ( exp Jan 2022 ) applied for a Thai Pass which was approved and issued with speed.
An expired Thai passport was a non issue....
Hope this helps someone...
