Then it's time for Plan B or Plan C. Two years onshore post-OAP, or no OAP.
Talk to Centrelink International. They know more than people like me on an Internet forum do.
Contact details please.

Yes, my understanding is if you are resident when you reach OAP age then it's no questions asked - you have portability. IF two years solid in the country will reestablish residency - you'd think it would have to eh? But give Centrelink International a call to discuss, they seem to be pretty decent people. Number is on the C/L website somewhere, and they have an international reverse-charges service from memory.
'Maintaining residency' is a major focus of this thread, with more opinions than you can poke a stick at!
And if you do not maintain residency according to their interpretation?

Don't waste time with the Embassy or consulates, call Centrelink International Services on their overseas line.
What is the telephone number?

You can return and get the pension straight away if you have reached the age you can receive the pension, it is you have to live in Oz for two years before you gain portabilty so you can take it overseas.
It is a stupid rule and just another hoop to jump through to be able to live overseas on your pension.
It is even more stupid. I am wheelchair bound & have nowhere to stay.

I have not read the full 120+ pages but have been eligible for the OAP for 4 years.
I would appreciate details of where the application should be sent.
BTW, I have been provided with contradictory information - the Oz Embassy in BKK & the Honorary Consulate in CNX.

It will be a good thing. It will improve the quality of Ozzies living ;here.
My understanding is that existing expats must return to Oz for 2 years prior to becoming eligible for the OAP.

You keep your passport when you apply here. You only submit color copies of your passport(s) with the application.
I live in CNX. I was advised to renew the passport locally.

Not sure that Alien is an intended insult, the only difference in Thai between the words 'alien' and 'foreigner' is a tone mark.
I suspect 'Alien' was a translation error that never got corrected.

It is more said in jest.

In LOS, it is possible for the woman to have the best of both worlds.
In fact, I am jealous as I had to study & work whilst a smart lady utilizes the best of the best.

I was on holiday there through the Marcos era. I stayed @ the Manila Hotel opposite Rizal Park. Inside was first class but upon leaving the hotel you were searched for security purposes. It took ages to get a taxi to Makati.
I was almost scammed by a family. The young lady was very attentive. We had a poker game & I was almost in big trouble.
I said that I was going back to the hotel for more $$$.
Thankfully, my neighbor in Oz had given me a contact. I started to return to lady & she fled.
BTW, in BKK, the same scam was tried. I merely asked whether they were Filipino & they fled.

The Philippines is crap .... you can have it all.
I second that. It is an extremely poor country with the Marcos regime.
There is an urgent need for birth control.

Question, with respect...
Do you receive a pension disability, and if so, is there a time limit before they cut you off, and is there a big difference between that and the OAP ?
Not wanting to put salt in your wounds, just looking for alternatives, as we all do, and its a learning curve here for us all.
I receive no disability pension.

I advised you what to do re the medical report about your disabilities and unable to travel. Never heard back from you. If you didnt do that, which I very much believe, then, yes, put this saga behind you. After all, we are only taking about 390.000 baht P.A,.
I have made the decision. No.
I am 69yo & confined to a wheelchair.
I received 2 calls from an employee of Family Services.
He stated that my chances were zero even on compassionate grounds.

I have been communicating with an employee from Human Services. He contacted me after I emailed the Minister.
I am aware of the legislation relating to being in Oz for 2 years prior to being eligible for the OAP.
I sought exemption on the basis of my situation viz disabled and having no communication with relatives.
There are no hardship provisions within the Act so I will not be going to Oz.
I advised officer that he was signing my death warrant. He apologized but stated that he was unable to do anything about it.
For the rest of you there is the opportunity to meet the requirements and attain a good outcome.
GOOD LUCK

How often will my passport be checked once in Thailand?
in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Posted
Often we go to CNX. Invariably there are police checks regarding my wife's ID & my passport.
Keep your passport in order & all is OK.
